This very special historic home built in 1917 has over 2,100 sq. ft. of living space in a quiet cul-de-sac with Spruce Canyon across the street, but has been beautifully updated and offers all of the modern amenities for your stay in San Diego. The home was originally owned by Thekla Heath, a prominent scenic designer and local artist known for hosting artists and actors performing at the local theaters. The kitchen offers a Viking 6 burner range with a griddle (great for pancakes on a lazy day) and two ovens, a super quiet Meile dishwasher, and a wine refrigerator. The home features an extra large Dining Room and Living Room for those nights when you feel like staying in. Each bedroom has their own TV, and the Master Bedroom and Den have 42' flat screens and DVD players. The Master bath has double sinks and extra large walk-in shower. The guest bathroom has it’s original Orchid colored bathtub! The Outdoor patio has a gas BBQ, outdoor table for six, additional outdoor seating and a fountain. The closest market is Whole Foods but Trader Joe's, Vons, wine shops and cheese shops are close by.

The home is furnished with antiques and art to fit the period of the home, so families with children should use caution.

Many of the homes in Banker's Hill are designated as historically significant - check local listing for Garden and Home tours. It's walking distance to Balboa Park and the many museums there. Only 5 minutes to the famous San Diego Zoo, 10 minutes to Sea World and the Airport but the home is secluded and quiet.

The great restaurants and night life of Hillcrest, Banker's Hill, Little Italy, the Gas Lamp District, Seaport Village and San Diego Convention Center are just 3 to 10 minutes away; not to mention the shopping at Fashion Valley. Beaches and the bay are also close by, and we're freeway close for trips to nearby La Jolla, Del Mar, Coronado, Legoland and all that San Diego has to offer.

we had a great time visiting all of San Diego while using this home as our base.

The home is in a great neighborhood and was perfect for my family of four. It has all of the amenities you need and then some. We had wine and cheese on the back patio every night and made breakfast every morning. It's location is central to the area. We rented bikes and had a car but used the bikes for most every outing.

Jim and Francesco were easy to communicate with and are obviously very proud of their home.

Thanks guys!! We had a great time!!

Wonderful Place to Stay

We had a marvelous time in SanDiego. The house is in the best location for getting to all of San Diego's attractions and delicious restaurants. From the binder of info we found the Royal Stone, and every morning ended up there! The backyard was cozy and inviting with comfortable chairs for watching all the hummingbird activity and birds, loved the fountain! The house has plenty of room with a great kitchen and cozy fireplace if you need it. Will stay again if ever in the area!

Perfect!

We've rented countless homes in the last 10 to 15 years and as our family pulled away from this one we asked our traditional question . . . so what could have been improved. There wasn't a single thing we could think of. This is a gorgeous, impeccably decorated, comfortable, beautiful home with absolutely everything you need. Jim and Francesca were always available but never intruded. We could not have enjoyed this home more. S perfect 10.

Beautiful home in perfect location

We recently stayed at this location and were extremely pleased with everything. The home is a remodeled early 1900's house that is tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with a Viking gas range that any chef would appreciate and the backward is truly magical in the evenings. There is no television in the main living area and this permitted us to relax and chat quietly without the constant din of tv noise. We biked everywhere from this location and will certainly return to this home and our beloved San Diego. Jim and Francisco are delightful as well.

Nice, well-equipped house in a very good location.

The location was ideal - quiet neighbourhood close to airport, downtown.

Property was old, but very clean and well-maintained.

Owners were friendly.

Good layout for three couples. 2.5 bathrooms, so two couples had to share one shower

(this was O.K. with our group of friends).

Not recommended for families with children because of the need for care with the furniture and furnishings.

Apart from the above, we would thoroughly recommend this rental.

What a place!

We arrived having had a hard to beat stay in Santa Monica, but this place stopped us in our tracks. This house is great. The owners have a real home from home here, furnished and equipped to a very high level. Loved staying here. Its big, plush and has everything you'll need and more.

Bonuses were things like the audio system which pipes your music everywhere (even wireless speakers in the garden), the fantastic kitchen, large liveing areas, AC (which we needed I think maybe twice, it got v hot towards the end of the week), the lovely chilled garden, loads of parking.

The house is on a quiet cul de sac, in a nice neighbourhood. We walked in Hillcrest a few evenings - loads of bars and restaurants, all of which were good. Supermarkets are about a mile away. Balboa park is maybe 10 minutes on foot, and walking into downtown SD took about 40 minutes. TO be honest, we went downtown just the once and spend the rest of our time local, much preferred it.

The house is easy to find, and is in a good location to be a base for exploring the area. We spent a lot of time on the beaches, with Coronado and Ocean Beach being our favourites. Drove up to La Jolla after so many people telling us what a lovely place it it. Well, its OK, if a bit manufactured. We thought Coronado was nicer, more interesting, relaxed and a nicer vibe and a lot easier to get to and park up. THe drive over the bridge is spectacular. We couldn't get a parking spot near any beach in La Jolla and ended up coming back to OB. Worth considering if you are driving out.

The house made it for us, being so nice, it was such a nice place to come back in to after a day out, so we spent a few evenings just relaxing there.

Oh yeah, breakfast, 8am, the fountain comes on outside and you can watch hummingbirds in the water, whilst you have your breakfast. Great way to start the day!
