Excellent vacation house

  • 4 of 5

This house is clean, well maintained and well equipped. It's has a beautiful yard, and beautiful view of the lake. We had kids with us, so it was great to be so close to a bike trail, swimming, fishing and the Watertown zoo. Watertown Has some unique restaurants and coffee houses that are fun to visit. We enjoyed our stay!

Very nice Property. Top 2 levels very clean and well set up. Basement had bugs but since they were dead it didn't bother us too much - sign on basement door said it was only for tornadoes; but since property was advertised as being equipped with washer/dryer we had planned on using them as we came from another place first assuming we could each throw in a load of laundry to get us by for next couple days. It was either use the washer/dryer or go buy new clothes.

Would suggest trimming driveway trees a bit - was tough backing in 2 pickup/boat rigs.

Lovely view of the lake.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We try to discourage use of the basement, except in emergencies, and should note that the washer and dryer are in the basement of a very old home, before we remodeled it. We wish you had called for clarification, and we would have explained. We hope you had a good time anyway. We will modify our property use description. It was windy, and fishing conditions were not good. Lake Kampeska is unusually low this year also, so dock fishing and boat mooring are not so good. We hope you give us a second chance and consider us as a vacation option again in the future. We trim the trees every spring, I guess they need another trim, thanks for letting us know!

Beautiful, comfortable, clean!

  • 5 of 5

We went on our family vacation for four days... Four generations, ages 7 to 80. An amazing time was had by all. Everything needed was on site to cook, clean, and enjoy the outdoors with.

The house was tastefully decorated and very clean. Everything worked! The fireplace was a nice touch as was the outside firepit. And there was alot of room too. Nine of us slept very comfortably.

To top the great experience off, the fishing was great!

We will definitely be back! Hands down this was the best vacation rental we have ever had! Thank you, Paula, for sharing your home with our family and for making the rental process so easy!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We are glad you enjoyed our lake home.. Lake Kampeska is very low this year, so hope this was not a problem for your boat tying up to the dock. We are glad the fishing was good. Usually shore fishing is good in the Spring and Summer, but we were not sure about this year due low water conditions. It was cool enough for the fireplace, so we are glad you enjoyed it along with the propane fire pit. We hope you will return with your family again some time.

Family Celebration

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property with an amazingly inviting home. We have always preferred staying in a home rather than a cramped hotel room - this property did not disappoint. Everything you could possibly need - dishes, wine glasses, etc. There were only three of us this trip but price still compared to three hotel rooms. This property could easily sleep 9 people.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your booking. We always think that Fall is the best time to travel, if possible, with less crowds, and the weather in South Dakota is usually still good into October. We try to keep Kampeska Rental a comfortable and clean place to stay, and if all the available bedding is used, it can actually sleep 12! (sofa bed included) We hope that you can return again for another family celebration.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. we will be replacing the dock for next year, so hopefully you will enjoy the swimming even more.. The weather is usually good in South Dakota, and especially by July, the lake is comfortable for swimming. The bike trail is also being completed around the lake, so there is something for non swimmers, too.

An awesome property!

  • 5 of 5

We spent our family vacation at this property on Lake Kampeska. There were only 3 of us but this house could easily accomodate 2 or even 3 families with children, and no one would feel crowded. The location is terrific with a nice outside seating area and large picnic table. On other parts of the lake the homes are practically touching but you won't feel cramped at this property. As others have mentioned the house was immaculate and everything worked well which isn't always the case with vacation rentals. The typical summertime breeze is from the south or southwest so on days that were quite hot in town we were able to enjoy being outside with the breeze coming off the water. An outstanding experience!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. We try to make the home as comfortable as possible, and yet provide the essentials for lake living. We will be replacing the dock with a new one next year. It will also have a bench so you can enjoy the lake even better. Even though the lake is cooler in summer than town, we also have the air conditioners to keep the home comfortable at night. Sometimes in the summer, even the lake needs A/C! we hope that you return again.
