Great place for a family visit

  • 5 of 5

We make at least one trip to Watertown every year and have been staying at this property for the last several years. It is a wonderful place to stay. Very peaceful and beautiful. The owner has always been very attentive to our needs. We look forward to coming back next year.

We just stayed at your cabin at the Lake. It was such a nice clean cabin with everything that

we needed.

I highly recommend to anyone visiting in the Watertown area to stay here. We had people from

every age group and everyone had a good time. Thanks!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind remarks. We try to have a vacation home that is clean and is comfortable for a lake vacation. On North Lake Drive, the shore is not as good for swimming as the south shore of lake Kampeska, but the dock makes it easy to be in the water past the rocks on shore. There are beach areas within a couple of miles and the lake has many boat launch access points. We hope that you can stay again.

It worked out well!

  • 4 of 5

The house was pretty well clean but needed a good spring cleaning. The coffee pot stopped working. The outside fire pit was very touchy and wouldn't stay lit. Too many annoying signs around the house. The book was good information. Swimming area should be better if it's a lake house.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We are sorry you had a bad experience at our lake home. The coffee pot does work, but was clogged when coffee grounds overflowed the filter. We do have lots of signs around the property, such as a warning to not park on the lawn, a "slippery when wet" sign on the sidewalk near the garage, and several informational signs inside the home. We have always felt these were for the benefit of our guests but understand that they could be viewed as a nuisance. The fire pit is hard to light unless the fine print instructions below the gas controls are followed, and sometimes rain gets into the gas lines. We will add a new large print instruction note for how to light the fire pit. We do try to maintain the home in a clean and well maintained condition, and would appreciate any specific recommendations you might have. The home is on the lake, but we do not advertise it as a swimming area, though many of our guests do swim there. There is no beach, and there is nothing we can do about that. We are glad that the home worked out well for your needs, and hope that you can give it another chance.

Excellent vacation house

  • 4 of 5

This house is clean, well maintained and well equipped. It's has a beautiful yard, and beautiful view of the lake. We had kids with us, so it was great to be so close to a bike trail, swimming, fishing and the Watertown zoo. Watertown Has some unique restaurants and coffee houses that are fun to visit. We enjoyed our stay!

Very nice Property. Top 2 levels very clean and well set up. Basement had bugs but since they were dead it didn't bother us too much - sign on basement door said it was only for tornadoes; but since property was advertised as being equipped with washer/dryer we had planned on using them as we came from another place first assuming we could each throw in a load of laundry to get us by for next couple days. It was either use the washer/dryer or go buy new clothes.

Would suggest trimming driveway trees a bit - was tough backing in 2 pickup/boat rigs.

Lovely view of the lake.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We try to discourage use of the basement, except in emergencies, and should note that the washer and dryer are in the basement of a very old home, before we remodeled it. We wish you had called for clarification, and we would have explained. We hope you had a good time anyway. We will modify our property use description. It was windy, and fishing conditions were not good. Lake Kampeska is unusually low this year also, so dock fishing and boat mooring are not so good. We hope you give us a second chance and consider us as a vacation option again in the future. We trim the trees every spring, I guess they need another trim, thanks for letting us know!

Beautiful, comfortable, clean!

  • 5 of 5

We went on our family vacation for four days... Four generations, ages 7 to 80. An amazing time was had by all. Everything needed was on site to cook, clean, and enjoy the outdoors with.

The house was tastefully decorated and very clean. Everything worked! The fireplace was a nice touch as was the outside firepit. And there was alot of room too. Nine of us slept very comfortably.

To top the great experience off, the fishing was great!

We will definitely be back! Hands down this was the best vacation rental we have ever had! Thank you, Paula, for sharing your home with our family and for making the rental process so easy!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We are glad you enjoyed our lake home.. Lake Kampeska is very low this year, so hope this was not a problem for your boat tying up to the dock. We are glad the fishing was good. Usually shore fishing is good in the Spring and Summer, but we were not sure about this year due low water conditions. It was cool enough for the fireplace, so we are glad you enjoyed it along with the propane fire pit. We hope you will return with your family again some time.
