*Note: this cabin is in Grand Lake, Colorado. Vrbo/HomeAway recently lumped Grand Lake with Estes Park (2-3+hours drive summer/winter), Winter Park, Fraser, Tabernash & the town of Granby (20-50 min drive).
We moved from Ohio to Littleton, Co 24 years ago & bought our 1st place in Grand Lake 20 years ago. We have 3 boys: twins that are 21 years old & an 15 year old. When they were younger they loved to go to the cabin & catch frogs, butterflies, grasshoppers, play on the swingset, enjoy the wildflower or just hang out on one of the big rocks to have a picnic.
Maureen purchased this cabin in 2000
We love the quiet town of Grand Lake we enjoy boating on the 3 large lakes & hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. We often have picnics by one of the lakes & our boys love to just hang outside & see the wildlife.
We came with very high expectations & have not been disappointed! Gorgeous cabin in a stunning location - I dont think we have ever been anywhere so relaxing. We went hiking, mountain biking, rented a boat on Grand Lake & went go-karting. Our teenagers liked the ping pong & x-box. We would come back again anytime!
What a lovely place.. my wife and I spent a nice time at this cabin.. The place is very well taken care of, the beds are very comfortable and we had lots of fun between the hot tub, sledding on snow, and the grill. There is lots of privacy in this place with no immediate nearby neighbors which we liked.
The owners were very nice and let us check in early on the day of our arrival and emailed us detailed instructions on accessing the property and what is provided for us vs what we should bring, I thought the information/instruction they provided was very useful.
Spent the Christmas and New Year's holidays with my brother and his family at the cabin and were immediately in awe of the property. The snowcapped mountain views from the property were amazing. The morning sunrises were absolutely spectacular. There were a few days where we witnessed a couple of moose walking around the property with fresh tracks in 2+ ft. of snow.
The cabin itself was incredible. Very clean, comfortable and spacious. The owner's description of the cabin is pretty much spot-on.
The surrounding area of Grand Lake down through Granby and Winter Park is incredible. We visited only a couple of restaurants as we cooked most of our own meals. There are plenty of accesses to ski, tubing, sledding, and snowmobiling nearly everywhere you turn. I highly recommend On-The-Trail snowmobile rentals.
Overall, this was a great vacation and would love to be able to do this again.
I stayed here with a total of three families and three children and it fit all of us so comfortably. Everything you can think of is provided with the house! The kids especially loved the 'secret room' filled with toys!
We did a bunch of hiking around the area and the sunrises were spectacular. It was wonderful to have a front seat! I highly recommend anyone to stay here...I know we will be back!
We have rented in Grand Lake for several years and this property is by far our favorite. We particularly loved that the driveway is very long and private, so our kids could sled down the driveway without us having to worry about cars...we never even had to leave the property for them to have hours of entertainment. You really must have a four wheel drive in winter, which the owners made clear. I loved that it was an actual log cabin and my husband loved that it was new, with all the usual amenities you would expect in a new home. Lots of hot water. The kitchen had very nice pots/pans/dishes - chef quality. And every kind of utensil or appliance you could ever need. There are tons of board games, an xbox 360 with games, and tons of movies to watch, VHS in one bedroom and DVD in another bedroom, DVD in the living room. Ski Granby is about 20 mins away, small resort that was perfect for my beginner skiers. We also did tubing and skating at Winter Park Resort, 50 mins away. There is a sledding hill at Grand Lake Nordic Center we have done in the past, but this year we didn't bother because we had our own driveway to sled. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back!
Everything was perfect! Incredible what you guys have done up there. All of the necessities that we needed were there and more. Very cozy and warm. Thank you so much we treated it with care and abslolutely loved it all. We hope to be back there and enjoy it during the summer months.
We rented this home for a long relaxing weekend. The property exceeded all of our expectations. Upon our arrival we were amazed by the beautiful wildlife that we immediately saw. The home was beautiful yet comfortable. There was plenty of space for all of us to have privacy yet still enjoy each other's company. The home owners were accommodating and easy to work with. We will and already have recommended this home to others and we plan on visiting the home again. Hopefully sooner than later!
