La Escapada — Your Private Vieques Rental Home
This villa is located in a remarkably quiet area atop two lush acres of beautifully-landscaped grounds surrounded by gorgeous views of Vieques countryside and Caribbean waters. The spacious pool is as ideal for laps as it is for floats.
Located in Pilon, the breezy side of the island, La Escapada visitors enjoy a tranquil, romantic retreat where you can really wind down. Come enjoy the comfort, serenity, and peace amid beauty in all of its island splendor. La Escapada is where you can experience the sensation of instant relaxation and decompression from the cares of the world.
Not that it is necessary with the cool trade winds, but we do have Air Conditioning.
There are many very good reasons why we named our Vieques vacation house La Escapada!

We are a married couple with a partner in the home who all share a love for La Escapada and Vieques Island as well as lounging poolside next to palm trees swaying in the breeze.
We have travelled the Caribbean and the world and just fell in love with this charming house in the beautiful hills of Vieques Island. Everyone who experiences time here feels the same as we do about La Escapada. It is a special home for all to enjoy and is indeed an enchanted place. The bioluminescent bay is a MUST see and experience whether by pontoon or kayak. This is a very casual island with all creature comforts but no pretenses. Men: Bring a pair of flip flops, a swim suit, shorts and perhaps a hawaiian shirt and you are good to go anywhere. Ladies: a sundress or sarong will do just fine. Come be as comfortable as you want to be.
Beach or pool today? Make lunch or try one of the delicious island cafes? Those are your primary decisions here at La Escapada. You cannot go wrong either way. Vieques beaches are among the most secluded in the world with no concession stands or thronging masses. Our pool is surrounded by beautiful palms under the sun all morning and afternoon and is magical under the star studded skies at night. You have many excellent dining establishments to choose for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Or just stay home and enjoy each other's company over a glass of wine or island cocktail. This is a very romantic retreat!
Great rental in paradise! Our family of 5 stayed for 4 days but wish we could have stayed longer. Things we liked most: pool, covered outdoor area, private off street, and disconnected from devices (no internet or tv). Always a nice breeze so really didn't see many bugs. Kitchen nicely equipped - we only ate out once. Definitely need a jeep to access beaches (recommend Maritza's). Bio Bay and snorkeling a must. Hope to return some day!
Our family including a 7 mo old spent 6 relaxing days at this lovely home. Time was spent around the pool enjoying the chaise loungers & shade from the umbrellas, while the baby napped & then we were off to one of the countless beaches. Evenings found us around the outdoor table sharing a meal by candlelight! The house has all the beach gear you need, plenty of kitchenware and much more. The location is delightfully private, yet close to all the amenities (Isabel II & Esperanza).
Stayed two weeks Hard to beat There is an exceptionally comfortable breezeway overlooking the pool that became our headquarters The grounds are beautiful and the feeling of privacy perfect Anything on the island is easily accessible. House is not a typical rental in that there is stuff that one needs You use it and then replenish Can't recommend La Escapada enough Looking forward to next year
La Escapada... a festival of family frivolity! My wife and I, our two 20-something children and daughter-in-law recently returned from a fantastic week here. The house is perfectly situated on the island to take advantage of all that there is on this low-key Caribbean kismet. Island breezes sweep the property almost non-stop, whether you're lazing by the gorgeous pool listening to the rustling palm trees, dining on the covered patio or gazing at the horizon from the side porch.
It's clearly someone's home... not simply a rental property. The decor is island-fabulous, tchotchke'd just right, and comfy as can be. Tony & Christina take great care as great caretakers do, and made our segue to paradise seamless as can be.
And, oh, the island! Great people, great food, and you can engage or disengage completely, as there are tons of passive and active things to do. From dive-bars with fantastic sunsets to hardcore 4-wheeling adventures to the most pristine, solitary caribbean beaches you're going to find, it's all here.
Highest recommendation. Come and experience it.
I work with words for a living, and still I've been staring blankly at this review screen every time I open my computer for the last 3 weeks since we returned from Vieques, just trying to imagine what I could possibly say that a) hasn't been said very eloquently already or b) is not beyond words. The arrival, the jungle, the roads, the people, the sunset, the sunrise, the flora, the fauna, the beaches, the water, the house, the view, the pool, the yard -- the smallest details and the grandest abstractions (the space, the time, the feel) both seem inadequate. Truly, genuinely, I just hope you can give yourself or someone else the gift of living at La Escapada, if only for a moment. You'll be left with the greatest thing to say, simply: Thanks.
1 week on a hill with an amazing pool. The house had all the necessary equipment for a great beach vacation. We packed our Jeep every afternoon (after mornings in the pool) with chairs an umbrella and a couple travel coolers and headed to a different beach everyday. There were plenty of beach towels and even a few noodles. All the stuff we needed was right in the closet. The house was clean and airy. Great water pressure and the king bed was very comfy. The twin beds in the other room were not great for grown ups, but we made do. The covered patio was a great place for evening meals and a welcome escape from the sun. The pool chairs were terrific and the umbrellas are on wheels. Awesome. Caretakers Kristina and Tony were always a phone call away. Tony actually met us at the grocery store and lead us to the house. We have stayed elsewhere on the island and this joint was super quiet and peaceful by comparison. The Tin Box bar and restaurant was a short drive down the road. Where we spent a couple lively evenings enjoying organic barbeque and fresh watermelon margaritas. A few notes: you need a jeep, don't miss Secret beach, Red beach and Blue beach and lastly, Esperanza is the town to spend your evenings in. One more thing, the best snorkeling is at Mosquito Pier.
