As a world traveler having vast experience with staying in different types of accomodations, I wanted to provide the best of all worlds in Holly Haven. Creating a 'home away from home', Holly Haven has been designed to be a destination for traveling souls desiring a relaxing atmosphere.
Susan Hinz purchased this apartment in 2011
I've found all the natural beauties and open mindedness of Europe in Asheville! From the moderate climate, waterfalls and abundent nature to the cosmopolitan restaurants, ecclectic and down to earth people, Asheville area has it all in one place.
Peace, serenity and a retreat into nature at Holly Haven. So many activities are nearby or just stay in and get lost in the sweeping vista views of the mountains for hours.
We had a lovely stay in your apartment. Thank you so much for opening it for visitors to stay.
This was such a comfortable place to return to each evening for rest and respite. We so appreciated the apartment ; a true haven. Thank you for your gracious hospitality in leaving us the banana bread. It was a lovely kindness and very delicious!
My husband and I decided to come up to Asheville last minute, and we were lucky enough to find Holly Haven. The property manager was extremely responsive - we literally made the booking while we were driving! The home is very well maintained, comfortable, and clean. There was even fresh baked banana bread waiting for us upon arrival. Great place to stay for a couple!
My wife and I wanted a nice place to stay for the New Year and not wanting to stay in a hotel we found a listing for Holly Haven and was able spend four wonderful nights. The apartment was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The big screen television and fireplace added a very nice touch. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils, even a pizza cutter, that we used since we baked pizza for dinner one night.
We would recommend Holly Haven to anyone looking for a nice place to stay while in the Asheville area which is only a short drive away.
The apartment is cozy and has a beautiful view. It is in a quiet area (too quiet for my taste), about 10 minutes or so from Downtown Asheville. All around are quiet winding roads, lovely homes and beautiful mountain views.
A few points about the apartment -
1. The bed was not comfortable at all. It was a box-style, ultra-soft mattress that sinks in as you lie down. It is very difficult to change your side once you are lying, and it disturbs your partner too. Wrote to the property owner the next morning, and she suggested that we remove the top layer (a thin, silky mattress-y cover). However, the base mattress is still very soft, so I don't know if that would have made a difference. We didn't try that option but it may be comfortable for others.
2. There is an attached room that contains some machines (e.g. generator). During the night, they seem to turn on and off. If you are a light sleeper, then you may be woken up by these sounds. I kept hearing running water and had to remind myself that it was probably the flush tank (or something like that).
3. The apartment above seemed to have some visitors on one of the nights. Heard some thumping and stomping late into the night. Sound transfers very easily between the two apartments.
4. The bathroom shower head is something wonderful! Enjoyed using it.
5. The kitchen is comfortable and well-equipped.
Holly Haven is absolutely the best VRBO place that we have found! It was very comfortable, convenient to everything that we wanted to do and was quiet and restful. It took us about 15 minutes to get to Biltmore. I cannot express how clean everything was in the apartment. The bed was comfy. The kitchen was fully equipped. Grocery stores and restaurants were very close by and easily accessible. I have no reservations about recommending Holly Haven for any couple's Asheville getaway! We hope to return in the future.
The living room and kitchen were very nice. The electric fireplace was very cozy and the kitchen had much to offer. The bedroom and bathroom were not what we expected. The bed was very uncomfortable and we did not get a good night's sleep. The sheets had been washed many times and were not smooth. The bathroom was too small, and there was no vanity so no place to lay hair dryer, curling iron, etc. We would not stay here again just because of the bed, so therefore we can not recommend it to others.
This was an excellent one bedroom, fully equipped apartment about 10 minutes from the Billy Graham Conference Center and also very close to an entrance onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was about two blocks off of a highway, quiet, peaceful and ideal for my wife's and my getaway.
The booking agent, Susan, could not have been more helpful and we had the opportunity to meet the owner of the property, an artist named Doreen. The two of them helped make the trip even better.
We will attempt to stay there each time we return to the area, and I am truly glad we found this property as it was very reasonable and perfect for our trip.
