Hale Aloha… On The Sand TVNC-4185

Judith Huber, property manager is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at (808) 635-0061.

Hale Aloha, a private gated oceanfront estate is one of the most secluded beachfront properties on all of Kauai. Located on Aliomanu Bay, this custom beach house offers unobstructed ocean views from most all rooms and the backdrop and grandeur of the Kalalea Mountains is post card perfect. Besides the obvious, location, location, location, Hale Aloha differentiates itself from other beautiful rentals because it was designed, remodeled and decorated for my family. Immediately apparent is the décor, this is not rental décor. The home was decorated by Gail Miller, a well published interior designer known for custom designed furniture with an island feel and the use of neutral colors to highlight the beauty of the outdoor ocean setting.

You will waken to spectacular sunrises and enjoy the benefit of the most central of locations for all Kauai adventures. Be forewarned however because once you settle into this gracious home you may not want to leave.

With your morning coffee in hand, stroll across your lawn to the inviting sand and warmed turquoise waters. It won’t be long before the routine of car, door, office, is replaced by swim, eat, visit with the fish, and watch the stars. Protected from the waves by extensive offshore reefs our very secluded beach provides the safest of locations for the youngest and oldest of swimmers and is perfect for snorkeling year round. Take one of our ocean kayaks across the bay, marvel at the colorful coral formations and visit with the turtles.

Our comfortable, yet elegant home, tells a story and sets a spectacular stage. Impassioned by all that is Hawaii, it was never our desire to trump its setting and so although our home’s magnificent attention to detail is glamorous it has been sensitively designed to reflect a quieter slower time that retains a sense of the romanticism of old Hawaii. My personal collection of authentic surf art and rare surfboards decorate my home and compliment the easily recognized trademarks of Gail Miller.

Hale Aloha has all the conveniences to allow for gracious living, an fully appointed gourmet kitchen with a full size ice maker, wine cellar, bar sink, and beverage fridge. Enjoy dinner in the formal dining room, an informal brunch in the casual dining area, or go island style on the 75' lanai, where you can also seat 12 for a oceanfront meal.

Enjoy a game of basketball in the driveway or a game of croquet in the back yard. Take a romantic walk at night, revel in the grandeur of the milky-way and rediscover the constellations.

Be pampered by our hardwood floors, sleep in the splendor of our bedding, walk the manicured lawn through tropical landscaping, pick our plumerias and discover the joys watching lilies open and close in the Koi pond. The tranquility of this home is only outdone by the privacy afforded our guests. There are many lovely homes on Kauai, but location, design and quality of amenities make Hale Aloha unique. Come see for yourself. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Come enjoy gracious Hawaiian living with partial central new air-conditioning installed, this lovely newly repainted home can accommodate 13-15 guests.

• The beachfront gated estate features 5 bedrooms, plus a den with a trundle bed, 6 full bathrooms, laundry room with washer/dryer, wifi, cable, DVD, CD, iPod docks, and Flat Screen TV's. The optional detached guest unit, which of course is only available when renting the main house, it is never rented separately sleeps two bringing the sleeping capacity to 15. It is a lovely 3 room air-conditioned unit with a queen bedroom, living area, kitchenette and full bath.

• The kitchen and living room open to a 75' oceanfront deck and the upstairs bedrooms open to a covered 50' lanai (deck).

• Spacious fully appointed gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and a Family gathering are as well as a large casual dining table

• Formal dining room with ocean view

About Judith Huber

My husband and I enjoyed living in and caring for Hale Aloha (VRBO 308945) and Hale Aliomanu (VRBO 306938). Both private gated estates are 200 feet apart on same secluded Aliomanu Bay.

I have always loved the water, and after coming to Hawaii in the 70's when I was 17 I knew I'd never leave. We moved to Kauai in 2000 and love the ocean, surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and fishing. The quiet small town appeal of Kauai fits our personalities perfectly.

Some of my most cherished family memories are from the estates at Aliomanu Bay.

Please give us a call anytime about your vacation plans and this property.

Much aloha,

Jude and Paul Huber

Judith Huber purchased this estate in 2004

Why Judith Huber chose Kauai

location-very secluded beachfront estate extends to the sand, large yard, safe year round swimming for my family, quiet safe neighborhood, old style plantation house design, close to conveniences.

What makes this estate unique

The warm sands of the Pacific in the front yard, trade wind air conditioning, the sound of the ocean, great weather, plantation charm of this spacious house, interior designs by Gail Miller, gourmet kitchen, formal dining room, casual dining area in kitchen, 50' upper lanai and 75' lower deck with dining for 12... the sun and moon rising out of the water is so romantic and the lack of ambient light make stargazing spectacular. Strolls on a moonlit beach, castles in the sand, the dolphins in the summer, the whales in the winter and the sleepy monk seals and happy go lucky turtles are sure to be treasured memories.

The home is even better than it looks if that is possible, everyone had an amazing time. Impeccably clean, designed beautifully and spacious. Very comfortable for large groups, with everything you need.

If I had to fault it for anything it would be that there is a public beach access directly next door, and the beach is pretty small.

Owner's Response: Upon arrival and throughout their stay we want each of our guests to be awed by the beauty of Kauai and the comfortable and tasteful luxury that defines my home. We are always upgrading and adding new amenities and my meticulous team and I try to make everything perfect. I will pass on your compliments to them. Thank you very much for taking the time to make their day. Many visitors are surprised to learn they can visit any beach in the State of Hawaii, as all beaches are public, therefore the beaches in Hawaii have public access. Many of my guests have commented on the fact that most days, they rarely see anyone on the beach in front of my home so although there are no private beaches in Hawaii, it feels like your own secluded beach, just walk out your front door, across the soft luxurious lawn and the warm blue waters of the Pacific will beckon you. Privacy of course is important and the spacious grounds of the Hale Aloha estate include a border of a traditional black lava rock wall and on the other border next to the beach access, a beautiful tall ipe wood fence. It is nice to have your privacy while lounging on the putting green front lawn or enjoying a raucous game of croquet in the extra large oceanfront yard. While roaming the beach, collecting shells or watching the clouds dance across sparkling blue waters you might meet one of the local fisherman who can show you his catch of lobster, uhu, or a local favorite, akule. The white sand beach is almost a mile long and the width of the beach changes with the tides. There are many larger beaches on Kauai, but there are not that many accessible beaches as secluded, beautiful and as safe as this one in front of my home. It is safe year round because the beach at the Hale Aloha Estate is protected by an outside reef, which is rare in Hawaii, and the calm waters of this bay are safe year round for young and old alike. Perfect for a kayak ride in one of our two person kayaks available for your enjoyment on the premises, snorkeling with the turtles, the colorful reef fish, or if you are lucky, you might see a Monk Seal or two, as mother and baby often rest on the beach right in front of the home. And then there's the sunrises and the wintertime humpback whale sightings as the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean is unobstructed at Hale Aloha. We are glad you enjoyed the home and welcome you back.

Spacious, well appointed house. Beautiful spot!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 adults enjoyed a fabulous 10 days at Hale Aloha. The house could easily have absorbed a couple more adults, even without expanding into the guest house. The house has multiple communal gathering spots, but also offers privacy, especially for the folks in the air conditioned wing. We appreciated the privacy and convenience of bathrooms in every bedroom that we used.

The location is perfect. We could've spent our entire time sitting on the spacious back porch, or the second-story balcony, watching the surf and soaking it in. Though the beach is technically public, we rarely saw more than a couple people on the beach or in the water, if any at all. It's not an ideal swimming or wave-surfing spot, as the water is shallow and reefy. (It's fine for a quick dip.) But the waves breaking over the reef are mesmerizing, and there are plenty of good swimming spots nearby.

The kitchen is huge (though more than two cooks in the prime meal-prep space got crowded), and has many of the basic spices and oils you'll need, as well as a range of helpful appliances. (We appreciated the blender and the rice cooker.) Jude (property manager) is friendly and responsive, and if you're lucky, you may score a to-die-for pineapple from her farm.

The house is well stocked with toys-- from boogie boards to a basketball and hoop to a croquet set (which is great on the putting-green-like back lawn).

And lots to do on Kauai! We managed to pry ourselves away to hike to the Hanakapiai Falls (a spur off the Napali Coast hike), where we swam at the base of the falls; trek to a waterfall in Waimea Canyon (don't miss); boogie board on Kealia Beach (don't go far south on that beach-- rip tides are real); ride bikes on the path north of Kapa'a; hike (amble?) to the Ho'opi'i waterfalls where we played on the rope swing at the base of the second falls; tour the island by helicopeter; and enjoy a boat trip up the Napali Coast. (We also enjoyed massages on the balcony, arranged by the concierge.)

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write such a great review. As you mentioned, all the beaches in Hawaii are public and I am still amazed, even after 30 years of living here, that very few people visit this protected Bay. The sandy spit at the North End of the beach, about 50 yards from where you enter the beach from your front lawn, is the better area for swimming and the remainder of the bay offers good snorkeling opportunities and is a pleasant and protected area for taking the kayaks out for a nice paddle.

Over the top! Such an amazing place!

  • 5 of 5

Judith pays attention to detail. The house was pristine, perfect, and felt so comfortable! There is so much space here, and it's all so comfortable and beautifully decorated w/Hawaiian memorabilia and decor. The yard and the views were amazing, watching the sunrise in bed each day w/our 5 month old grandson was a memory I'll never forget! The yard is huge w/many amenities, with the ocean just another step away to practically a private beach of calm clear waters! This was a dream house to be able to enjoy w/my whole family. We hope one day to go back! Hopefully w/more grandchildren!

Magical Week

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a house that would be close to the beach and give my extended family room to spend a week together without getting on each other's nerves. This house was PERFECT. There was plenty of space, 7 bedrooms (including the garage suite) for the 11 of us to spread out out. The house is casually but elegantly decorated in surfing/Hawaiian themes and immaculately clean. Although you can get some idea of this from the photos, the house is even more impressive in person.

The kitchen was a wonderful spot for us to gather in the evenings while we cooked dinner for 11 people. There is plenty of space for people to lounge while others are actively working.

Behind the house is a lawn that is elegantly surrounded by coconut palms. Families of chickens regularly wandered through. There are all sorts of lawn games--croquet, smash ball available. The gate opens onto a beach with some rocks but easy entry for swimming/snorkeling. There is a reef with all sorts of fish, coral and sea turtles literally right out the back gate. It gave everyone plenty to do even when just hanging out at the house.

The house is in a rather rural part of the island (with gorgeous scenery) and there is not a lot near by if you are looking for restaurants, etc. There is a general store about a mile away. It is 10-15 minutes to Kapaa town and a little further to points on the North Shore.

I can't recommend this property highly enough. I don't know when we'll be able to return, but I certainly hope to one day.

I set up this reservation two years ago. Wanted a home large enough for two families plus myself to spread out, relax, have our own space yet all together under one roof. The beach and it's safety also important as with five grandchildren ages 9 through 15 safety important. Having been to Kauai twice before I knew what areas to stay away from and what areas to look for that perfect house. FOUND IT! The home and grounds more beautiful then I imagined it would be. The beach.......well, it was Hawaii in every sense of the word not to mention great snorkeling just steps away! Absolutely no need for a swimming pool when having beach front that provided all the swimming anyone would want. The boards and snorkeling equipment well used. So many amenities around to keep the kids and adults busy/happy.

The historical town of Kappa close by to visit. Shaved ice became a favorite. Property location made it easy to get to all those little hideaway beaches north of Kappa. Heads up....if you drive north leave early as the parking can be challenging at the most sought after beaches. On those days of exploration don't sleep in!

The other side of this is how wonderful property manager Jude was to us. We enjoyed her little visits not to mention the pineapples fresh off her pineapple farm. She is proud of this property and rightly so. Thank you Jude for all!

In closing I say "Ditto" to all other recent reviews of this place. Don't be afraid of renting this home. Go for it. You won't be disappointed in any way. A great home for my family of 10. My only disappointment.....having to leave. That being said....... the good memories will live on forever. PERFECT!
