The one acre property extends across Hwy 64 to Lake Sequoyah. You have a real mountain feel with bare wood floors, walls and ceilings in each room of pecky cypress or pine. A new front loading laundry is just off the kitchen. There is a large great room with dining, an eat in kitchen, separate laundry, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths with ample tubs in each and one shower. The great room has a wood burning fireplace of stone. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and private bath. The two other bedrooms share a full bath and shower. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds. The third bedroom has a queen bed. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking and eating utensils.
The neighborhood is a pleasant place to hike up paved roads with interesting vistas. Nearby on Hwy 64 are spectacular waterfalls that are right on the road and easy to photograph. You will want to come back every year once you experience Highlands in this way.

Our family lives in Florida without seasons and with plenty of summer heat and humidity. The Highlands house has been in the family for 4 generations and is really special to all of us. We very much enjoy the cool weather in the summer and the wonderful change of seasons in the fall. Guests usually want to come back every year. This mountain house will make your visit a very pleasant experience.
DIANA purchased this house in 1950
This house is on Lake Sequoyah offering fishing and boating. Canoes are available for rent at a nearby restaurant. Hiking is right in the neighborhood or on the local trails around Highlands.
The shopping in downtown Highlands, fresh fruit and vegetable available in Dillard, mountain hiking, photographing waterfalls and mountain river vistas on the Cullasaja River between Highlands and Franklin hwy 64 are some of the things that we love about the area. Kids like the wild life museum in Highlands, exploring for gems in Franklin and easy hikes up Sunset mountain in downtown Highlands.
My husband, two grown sons and I enjoyed our stay in Diana's house. The rooms are much larger than the pictures indicate. The living area is very open, and the bedrooms are roomy and comfortable. The house was extremely clean and the kitchen well-stocked. We loved being across from the lake as we brought our kayaks and were able to easily put them in. We are already looking forward to our next stay here.
Everything about this rental surpassed all expectations. It was ideally located, roomier than pictures were able to convey, well equipped and will definitely return. Owners went out of their way to accommodate any request.
I just wanted to let you know that your home in the Highlands was very nice and met all of our needs. It was very close to all of the wedding venues and to town. It was also exceptionally clean and comfortable. We were very happy with the arrangements. I am pretty sure we will be heading up that way again and we will see if your home is available first.
This mountain retreat is choice! It is clean, spacious, and filled with plenty if amenities one can need away from home. Great for a family that wants to spend time together. Everything one needs is close by in Highlands or Cashiers. We visited waterfalls, picnicked, hiked, white water rafting, listened to music, read books, played games, etc. There is a overwhelming waterfall (man made from the lake not 900 feet from the cabin) that I recommend to see and a great picture place. You can hear if from the cabin. Highly recommend.
I've rented mountian homes in NC, TN and GA for years, and this place may be my favorite. I've never felt more at home in a place that I didn't own. It was difficult to leave as I became very attached to it.
This is a wonderful home in a natural setting with an ideal location. This property has a sense of history and authenticity that simply doesn't exist in newer "cabins" that have been built for use as rentals. Take a kayak or canoe and enjoy the serenity of Lake Sequoyah. The magic of Highlands lies in the fact that it is at 4,100 ft. elevation yet you have everything you need without traversing typically treacherous mountain roads. I've kissed the ground after reaching some of the homes I've rented in the mountains, but you won't have that issue here.
The owner of this property is a pleasure to deal with, and this home is an excellent value compared to other homes that I've rented in Highlands. I left this house relaxed and recharged, and it truly exceeded my expectations in most every regard.
We had a wonderful time in the mountains and your house was a delight. I would call it a real authentic mountain house with some pleasant surprises. We especially enjoyed the spacious rooms and flexible seating when family came over for dinner. Kitchen was well stocked and spacious.
The woods adjacent to your house are fabulous and we found many wildflowers including: Wild Ginger, Lady Slippers, Trillium and on. My granddaughter found the path to Webmont and we walked to Cliffside lake for a picnic.
Thank you and we hope to visit again when we have the occasion to bring family to Highlands.
Our favorite restaurant is downtown at the grocery store-Mountain Fresh. They are open for breakfast and lunch. Be sure to get lunch there--the burgers and homemade soups are the best in town. They also have take out for dinner if you call ahead.
