Joint owners of Abalone Beach Cottage are Dennis & Susan, and Joe & Jeri of Eugene, Oregon. Our motivation for buying Abalone Beach Cottage was its location just steps from the beach AND the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean from the living room and kitchen. We love to have our morning coffee inside while we watch the waves roll in on the beach.
Dennis Sibilia-Young purchased this cottage in 2003
This cottage is all about the views. The ocean can be watched from the living room, kitchen, upstairs bedroom and elevated exterior deck. The views are fantastic year round. We also love that there are many year-around events in the Yachats area.

Abalone Beach Cottage was originally built in 1938 by a retired Seattle carpenter. It is a quaint two-story cottage. It is beautifully shingled in cedar. Much of the original internal construction still exists. However, the living room, kitchen and downstairs floors were reconstructed in 2006. The cottage is located one property-site from the beach. Access to the beach is super easy. The unpopulated beach provides walking and exploring opportunities for many miles to the north and south.
Thank you for the use of your Beach house- Abalone Beach Cottage. The family had a wonderful time. We loved the big back yard for the kids to play in. I found I was the big bad troll under the bridge(stairway) and the kids the billy goats. great fun playing it over and over as children like to do. The House was comfortable and well supplied and big enough for all over us to enjoy. People loved it when I told them that it was my 2 year old grand daughter who was the contact to learn about the house. Loved walking on the beach. It was foggy and over cast most of the time but a great change from the heat of the Valley.
We were looking for the perfect place to have a small family gathering. Abalone Cottage was absolutely perfect. The four bedrooms were each tastefully decorated and the beds were very comfortable. The house was clean and well stocked with towels, blankets and cookware. We were worried whether we would b warm enough. That was no problem. The baseboard heaters were effective and we were comfortable even though it was cold an rainy. The beach is close enough to walk to in less than two minutes tops. You can get down faster if you are willing to scuttle down a steep trail. The common rooms were great and allowed us to have plenty of room as we visited, played games and hung out. Although we spent little time outdoors, the yard is precious and the artwork is lovingly placed around the property. We took a few day trips and enjoyed the aquarium, the light house, Cape Perpetua and a great restaurant in Lincoln City. This house is a good value and I would definitely consider going back.
This is a charming beach cottage for a relaxing time at the Oregon Coast. We enjoyed the ocean view from kitchen, living room and upstairs bedroom. Beach access is very convenient with a gentle, gravel slope access. The cottage is very comfortable and decorated with personal, tasteful, beachy touches. It can easily accommodate 8 guest without feeling crowded. The living space has an open design with well defined areas where there can be at least 3 separate activities happening concurrently. There is a roomy full bath that appears to be recently upgraded and a half bath. The kitchen is equipped with the cooking and serving items you may need. In addition to this beautiful cottage, there is a deck and a large grassy lawn that we were not able to enjoy because of the weather. It is perfect for a multi-generation family get together or a girls getaway. We will definitely be returning soon and staying longer next time. I highly recommend this cottage.
This was the perfect place for our weekend on the Oregon Coast! The cottage included everything we needed and it just steps from the beach. I loved the big windows in the kitchen and living room and was able to enjoy the beautiful sunset while cooking. The instructions from the owners were easy and we had no problems finding the place or getting in. Thanks so much for letting us stay!!
We have been staying at this beach cottage for several years now and its always a great get away place for us to stay. The owners are friendly to deal with and they have been making nice upgrades to the home every year. The home is about half way between Yachats and Waldport (about 4 miles each direction) and is a perfect location if you want to visit each of the towns with a short drive.
Excellent weekend! The only problem I had was the wifi password wouldn't work on my iPhone, worked a couple times for my wife's android phone. But we didn't mind, we spent no time glued to our phones on this outstanding weekend with a place as fantastic as Abalone with our four daughters!
Dennis, we had a simply marvelous time, and your lovely and comfortable home contributed to our relaxed visit.
There were carefully collected decorator items everywhere, each reflecting the sea. And! out each window were sculptures of colored glass--it was a magical place to stay. My daughter remarked that each room looked freshly painted, and the windows trimmed with unique and beautiful treatments. The linens were very nice, extra long beds, quilts everywhere, and laundry soap that left our towels unusually fresh.
The large sitting room could be divided to separate the TV viewers from the conversationalists.
Dennis, you were so very helpful with our questions, I look forward to recommending this home to others!
