Overview

About the property

Solid Log Cabin on 1-Acre Property (3BR/1BA)

You are looking at one of the best-kept secrets in Colorado! Just 5 miles from Blackhawk and Central City. It is a must to read my guest book below and hear all the amazing things previous guests have said about their stay.

Solid Log Cabin with all the amenities:

- Surrounded by National Forest, VERY Private and quiet (you could walk around naked all day and nobody would ever know!)

- Gushing Mountain Stream next to Cabin - great for your morning coffee or evening happy hour!

- 20-foot vaulted ceilings

- Fully Remodeled Kitchen and Bath

- A secret 4- mile long PRIVATE hiking trail starts 20 feet from the cabin - you'll never see another human on it!

- 1-acre of land and surrounded by national forest

- Wifi & Internet Access!

- Awesome indoor/outdoor sound system!

- Camfire Ring, Tree Hammock, & Patio Next to Stream! Gold Panning is also on-site!

- Lighting - I'm a bit of a lighting nutcase. I feel that lighting makes or breaks a space, so everything indoor and out has been done professionally and is spectacular. The proper has over 45 (!!!) outdoor landscape lighting fixtures to illuminate the entire property at night. It looks like a resort.

- (2) On property elaborate treasure hunts!! (see below for more about these)

- Beautiful Master Loft overlooking entire Cabin! Plus one main level bedroom, and a kids treehouse loft bedroom. The treehouse loft is mostly meant for kids, but its a cool place to hang out in too. Includes a twin bed, and Directv & DVD player.

- Property is located about 1 hour from Denver and it is very easy to get to - no I-70 traffic!

4-wheelers can be rented and delivered to the cabin for approx. $100/day if desired. Information is also at the cabin for local dining, casinos, guided fishing tours, grocery stores, hiking and jeep trails, etc. You can 4-wheel/ATV right off the property and into endless amounts of trails leading all the way to the Continental Divide, Winter Park, St. Mary's Glacier, and everywhere in between. There are endless amount of trails for exploring just up the road from the cabin. Golden Gate National Park is also only 15 minutes away. I can't overstate how awesome the 4-mile hiking trail is off the back of the Cabin...plan to be gone for a few hours!

Treasure! We have created two very elaborate treasure hunts for you to enjoy. One inside, and one outside (the outside one can only be done in the summer/fall of course) I encourage all ages to do it. They aren't easy, and kids will need help from their parents to figure out the clues, but its a TON of fun. We spent months putting each one together...you'll love it! And if you figure it out...there will be treasure waiting for you at the end...

Roads are plowed and maintained by the City of Black Hawk all the way to the cabin. Accessible year round. Complimentary Chocolate and Coffee are provided. Kitchen condiments, Firewood, Wood Stove Pellets are also provided. Easy check-in. A 4-digit access code will give you access for the length of your stay.

About Brian Richards

I purchased the property in 2002. It was never listed publicly... a friend was selling it. I had NO idea what I was going to do with it...I just knew it was so special I couldn't let it go or I would always regret it :-)

Brian Richards purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Brian Richards chose Front Range Colorado

This place was like a childhood dream come true for me. Everything about it...is...perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. My wife is a real estate agent, and she's been looking in the mountains for years for another property like it for us to buy in addition, and we just can't find anything like this one. Its so special in that it has the river, ultimate privacy, the true 'log' home feel, big & open, no neighbors, the private hiking trail, surrounded by national forest, etc. Its not hard to find most of those...but getting all of them in 1 property without spending $2M is not easy.

What makes this cabin unique

This Cabin is a labor of love for me and my family. We constantly upgrade it without hesitation. Because we use it so much ourselves...its so worth spending $ on to make it better. I've had families that have stayed here every year for the last 10 years, and its really fun upgrading it for them too so there is always something new to enjoy :) You can just feel the love that went into making this property an experience when you are there, and its not just the grandiose things, its the finest minute details that we think help make your stay here magical. No effort has been spared to make this the most amazing visit that we possibly can for you. The compliments and endless thank you's I get from my guests warm my heart and motivate me even to make everyone's stay special.

Five years and counting

  • 5 of 5

Fourth of July just wouldn't be the same if we didn't spend it at this perfect spot in Black Hawk. We've been there for the past five years during the first week of July and already have it booked for next year. When we walk in the door we smile at each other and say, We're home! We both enjoyed the new hammock this year and the patio by the creek is our favorite spot for drinking coffee in the morning and a cocktail in the evening. We love the privacy of the cabin and the fact that it's so close to Black Hawk and the fun of the casino. If you're lucky enough to visit this little bit of heaven, you'll understand why we can't wait to return!

AMAZING cabin and location

  • 5 of 5

I was really impressed with the quality and character of the cabin. On top of that, the location is awesome. If you want a great cabin on a great property that is private but still close to black hawk, this is the one.

Not a care in the world!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic get-away Brian has created in "The Ultimate Cabin Experience"! In this rustic, yet completely updated cabin, every little whim has already been addressed; you'll want for nothing, except for it to not end. From the carefree swinging of the cozy hammock, to the zen experience of the bubbling brook, the mind challenging scavenger hunts, the physical ascent on the yoga trail for wonderful vistas, the contemplation point among the trees, the super comfy beds and ample technological support...this place has it all! It's location for this Colorado local was close enough to be super convenient, but yet, far enough into the mountains for total seclusion and a "get away from it all" feeling that allows you to relax and breathe in the natural beauty of the area while enjoying the hummingbirds flit around the trees and feeders. I cannot wait to get back to what I hope will become a home away from home as a regular retreat from the daily hustle and bustle. If you're looking to be whisked away to a mountain hideaway that has it all, look no further; you will not be disappointed! Thanks so much, Brian, for all of the obvious love and preparation you've put into an amazing mountain experience!

Owner's Response: Wow. While all the reviews of our home are great, this one exemplifies how my family and I feel about this magical place. We pour our hearts and soul into it, and we're so glad that was obvious to you. Spared no expense or effort, we try to think of every little miniscule detail to make this place amazing to our cherished guests, and its so rewarding to know that our tireless efforts haven't gone unnoticed. Thank you!

So tranquil!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary. This property is set down a long gravel road. You pass a few other properties to get to it. It isn't set back very far from the road, but it is a bit hidden and there isn't much traffic. We wanted isolation and thought it would be a bit more hidden, but it was not bad by any means. We almost had ATVs delivered to the cabin, but we were glad we didn't. We didn't want to leave 'our' place any at all. The cabin is very nice: beautifully maintained, nice kitchen appliances, wonderful lighting. Lots of board games are provided and the 2 treasure hunts are great! We had so much fun. The floors are very squeaky in some areas- I think you would wake everyone up if you got up to use the downstairs restroom in the middle of the night! But we didn't have anyone else there so no issues. No washer/dryer, so be sure to bring plenty changes of clothes or be prepared to hand wash. The hiking trail is excellent- the first part is all uphill so bring your hiking shoes and take some water. There was lots of firewood available- I can't believe we forgot smores supplies! There are no curtains upstairs so I felt a little paranoid I could be seen from outside when all the lights were on and it was dark out, but I got over it. There is also lighting outside on the grounds, so you can see the surrounding area and it isn't creepy to go out past dark. We saw lots of hummingbirds and chipmunks, no bears! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your beautiful place. We can tell you care a lot about your cabin and work hard to make enjoyable experiences for your guests.
