Beautiful 1900's home with old world charm and updated amenities. We have owned this home for almost 10 years and love the house and the area. It is conveniently located in the town of White Salmon (on the WA side) with easy access to hiking, kiting, windsurfing, biking or just walking into town. White Salmon has an excellent brew pub (Everybody's) that attracts visitors from Hood River - with a great view of Mt. Hood from the deck, and a new bakery (White Salmon Baking Co.) that rivals the best you could find in practically any city.
The garden is lovely and relaxing and the house has a deck in front and back. There is a charcoal BBQ and a great long picnic table for outdoor dining. You will find raspberries and grapes growing in the garden - depending on the season.
The house has 2 floors and a basement - lots of storage for gear! More photos available upon request.
We have owned this home since 2007 as our vacation home. We have a 9 year old and she has a wonderful time here. We absolutely love the area and the house. We both windsurf which was the initial draw to this area - but we have since found out about all the other amazing things to do. This house is very relaxing and the little town of White Salmon is so quaint in comparison to the busier town of Hood River. Perfect vacation home for relaxing family getaway.

We had a wonderful stay at this property! The backyard was perfect for my kids to play and there was a fantastic park just blocks away! The market was conveniently close and we enjoyed our stay so much, only wish we could have stayed longer.
My parents, husband and I had a wonderful 5 days at Wauna house in White Salmon. The bungalow was thoughtfully remodeled, making it a welcoming home away from home. Within a 1/2 mile radius we could walk to White Salmon Bakery (highly recommended), grocery store, post office and downtown to explore local establishments.
Day trips to wineries, waterfalls, hikes, historic sites and antique stores balanced with hanging out at Wauna house reading, making meals and sitting in the sun on the front porch rounded out our stay.
Doug was clear in providing instructions regarding house details and got right back to me to answer questions. Wonderful!
We hope to return for another mini-vacation soon.
Perfectly charming 1939s style bungalow with a sunny backyard on a quiet street. Could walk to the white salmon baking company/bakery every morning for breakfast. Yum!
We have been Bungalow fans for many years, so staying in Wauna House was a real delight. The home embodies the classic elements of Craftsman-style 30’s construction with some modern upgrades and improvements.
The home is tastefully decorated, beds and other furnishings are comfortable and in good condition.
Kitchen is well stocked with flatware, dishes and cookware. We found everything we needed and more. The appliances all work fine (including the washer/dryer), and the vintage range is terrific.
The front porch is the place to be in the late afternoon, watching the world go by, and the two decks at the back of the house are great for morning coffee (one is accessed from the master bedroom).
Wauna House is situated on a quiet residential street (low traffic) and all the locals were friendly.
In addition to the house itself, we really appreciated the convenience of having everything so close. The grocery store is only a couple of blocks away, and the central business area is an easy walk. There are great pubs and restaurants within minutes of Wauna House.
We’re both fishing and wine enthusiasts, and there are several wineries just a short drive from White Salmon. There are many fishing spots nearby, as well.
Our stay at Wauna House provided us with a clean, comfortable, and convenient base for all our explorations and activities. This was one of our very best vacations!
We stayed 10 days, and it was hard to leave a place that was beginning to feel like home.
We would highly recommend Wauna House and we plan to stay there again. Soon!
My family and I stayed here in July. The location was perfect for a family reunion just a few blocks away, river rafting at Zoller's out of BZ Corners, hiking Dog Mountain (about 15 miles West), hiking Catherine Creek (about 5 miles East) and more hikes and exploring Hood River. The cottage was absolutely adorable, eclectic and clean as a whistle. It was walking distance to a grocery store and downtown White Salmon. Great time!
