Just Imagine Ship’s Quarters at Moss Landing:
Shiver Me Timbers, Captain…..am I on a ship or in a cabin? It’s time to set sail for your next Ocean Adventure! This beautiful gem of a log cabin was completed in 2009 with great care by its owners. Lovingly dubbed “Ship’s Quarters at Moss Landing,” it offers a unique, romantic, restful get away. Captain Jack Sparrow never had it so good!
From stem to stern, this rustic but elegant log cabin is reminiscent of being inside a great old wooden ship of yore. Step inside and you’ll think you’ve embarked on an ocean voyage as you settle into quarters fit for the Captain and his lady.
Warm, golden walls reflect the flames from the fireplace. Elegant nautical artwork enchants you from the moment you walk in. Sink into the leather sofa with a glass of your favorite beverage, pop a CD into the stereo, put your feet up, and breathe a sigh of relaxation as your adventure begins. The downstairs television is complete with cablevision and built-in DVD.
Ships Quarters at Moss Landing offers everything your “great escape” requires right here at your fingertips. Sleeping arrangements include the comfort of a queen-size bed in the Captain’s Quarters, a full-size bed in the Crew’s Quarters, and a futon upstairs in the Crow’s Nest, a lovely loft that provides an extra living area complete with its own TV/DVD/VCR combination unit (also with cablevision). A collection of DVDs, music and books is included for your use.
When it’s time to dine, you have a complete Galley at your disposal. Everything you need to cook your favorite seafaring food is right here, from baking sheets to serving dishes to wine glasses. Our Galley is complete with a microwave, coffee pot, toaster, full propane range, and midsize refrigerator.
After dessert, step right outside onto your deck, and you’ll really feel like you’re on the open sea as you soak away your cares in your own private hot tub. Should you be so inclined, there are non-breakable wine glasses for you to sip from as you enjoy the beautiful skies of Ocean Shores. You’re close enough to the ocean to hear the waves crashing onto shore, smell the salt in the air, and feel the ocean breeze.
Your pets are welcome at Moss Landing for a small pet fee of $15. We have a lovely yellow lab named Juneau, and we’d never want to leave her out when we go on vacation, so we have made our cabin pet friendly. All we ask is that you respect our property and keep your pet from doing any damage. Please make sure to take your pet off the grass to answer nature’s call. If you plan to leave your pet alone in the cabin, please bring a crate. Otherwise, you'll need to take your pet with you when you go out.
The loft area of Ship’s Quarters is not meant to be a play area for younger kids, especially toddlers and infants. There is no guard in place to minimize the falling risk. Older children and adults will find the loft an enchanting area of privacy that expands the sleeping space and provides a separate entertainment area.

Hi, I'm Sonja, and my husband, Tom, and I built Ship's Quarters at Moss Landing on a piece of property we bought in 2006 near the beach in Ocean Shores. Well, actually my husband and our family did most of the building, but I got to furnish and decorate it! When I was 14, I found a picture of a little log cabin and taped it to the front of a notebook. I carried that picture with me for the next 20 years, always dreaming of the day I might be fortunate enough to have a cabin of my own. Then I married Tom. He and I have been building and remodeling things ever since we got married 12 years ago, but the possibility of building a log cabin was always there in the back of our minds. When we bought the property in Ocean Shores, we had an idea that we could build some type of vacation homes so people could enjoy the beauty of Ocean Shores, but nothing we could find really felt like the right thing. One day, we were talking about the property and what we might do, and we did another search on the internet. Voila, we found Conestoga Cabins. After researching and getting plans, we knew we were onto something. We contacted Rick, who is now our property manager, and told him of our plans. Once we finished it, he was amazed. He said he thought we were going to just build a little cabin, something like a hunting cabin, but this was SO much more. He loves it as much as we do, and we've shared our cabin with guests for over a year now. We are so fortunate to have had so many people stay at Moss Landing. Our guest book is full of heart-warming stories. We have our first cabin now, at last. And we love sharing it with people who are looking for an enchanting, relaxing, and original getaway. Bon Voyage!
Sonja Moss purchased this cabin in 2006
We never thought a place like Ocean Shores could exist. A friend told us about it and said she had bought a lot to build her own vacation home there. She said that there were still a few lots available for sale, so we took off for places unknown.....and we were delighted. We bought our lot the same day we arrived. We knew that it was a place we wanted to keep coming back to. Ocean Shores is a quaint little community with SO MUCH to do. People from all over Washington (and further) come to do clam digging, beach combing, storm watching, and kite sailing. There are so many wonderful things to do. You can even go horseback riding on the beach. We have found the people to be quite friendly here.
It's a unique place and a wonderful nature spot. You just have to be willing to share the roadway with the local deer population.
We were finally able to move here and live full time in Ocean Shores, and we started managing our own cabins in January 2013. It's been an awesome experience, and we're constantly amazed at all the wonderful guests that stay here. When you can actually meet the folks that stay in the cabin, it changes everything. We love getting to know our guests, and we thrilled just to be here!
Ship's Quarters at Moss Landing is a place to wind down and relax. Enjoy the silence of being at the end of the peninsula near the wildlife refuge. Feel the ocean breezes as you relax on the front porch. The solitude is peaceful. Nature is close and palpable. Storms occasionally come screaming in, but you are always safe, warm, and dry in our rustic, cozy cabin. There is as much or as little solitude as you want. You can enjoy the hot tub, barbeque your favorite foods, walk down to the beach, kick back and watch a movie, cook a gourmet meal. If ever a cabin could be a destination resort, this is it.
Enjoyed our time in Ocean Shores. Sonja was warm and welcoming, cabin was clean and bright, ready for our arrival. Appreciated the use of the BBQ and left over charcoal - made for a special and unexpected good time. Appreciated the wine in the fridge as well - really hit the spot after our long drive. Cabin was a short walk from the beach and a great value for the price. Thank you - we will definitely look to stay again our next time at the shore!
We loved staying here. My 4 1/2 year old loved climbing up the loft. We enjoyed the close access to the beach. The log cabin was very comfortable and very clean and well maintained and stocked. The owners live nearby and are very helpful. We will certainly come back again
I will try to keep this brief, but seeing this was the first ever rental we attempted on VRBO, and it was our first honeymoon stop, I must say something!!! Moss Landing is stunning. We were in the first cabin, and I believe it was the largest. Upon walking up the walk to the door, I noticed how immaculate everything looked. The interior did not disappoint. If you appreciate cleanliness, like me, this cabin will not disappoint. Everything feels fresh and new, and constantly attended to. Even though it was the two of us, we could clearly see how this could hold a family, and then some. Everything looked so cozy and warm. The hot tub, for 2, on our porch was so romantic and refreshing each night. I loved all of the wood inside, and the decor, and, of course, the congratulatory cake and card waiting for us....not to mention the bottle of wine. Sonja and Tom are very thoughtful hosts, and we felt welcomed right away. I really hope we get back to this location, and being from Vancouver, Canada, it is not a far drive. Thank you for allowing us to come stay in your beautiful getaway. I will remember this experience fondly, for years to come. Bravo, to both of you.
What a unique and hidden gem! Sits on the bay side of Ocean Shores (Gray's Harbor) with bay beach just a block away. Upscale type cabins with everything you could possibly want and a heck of a lot more. Extremely clean, updated amenities, sits in a quite location free from the main road traffic. A lot of attention to detail went in when the owners built this place. The "ship" look inside the cabins, the type of furniture selected, all of the cooking ware to prepare meals, etc. Even the Select Comfort beds (in our cabin at least) were a very nice treat to doze off in after a day of hiking, mountain biking, ocean beaching. That and the fact that you have your very own private hot tub outside on your very own private deck. The hot water.... can't say enough good things about the tank-less system. Always HOT, never ran out even after 3 people showering. Also, a so comfy leather Lazy-Boy that sits right next to nice gas fireplace. The extras included provided beach chairs, smores fire sticks, beach mats, chopped wood for your fire outside your cabin, a bottle of chilled wine waiting for you after a six hour drive getting there. Plenty of storage for your "city things", good sized bathroom and bedrooms with a ton of books, DVD's and yup! even VHS tapes! hahah! that was such a blast from the past.... Oh, and the loft. After a short climb up, you are met with an expansive layout with a sleeper futon, a nice rocking chair, and very cool hand made quilts to bundle up with as you and your family watch a movie on a huge flat screen TV. Outside, besides the fire pit, you can play horse shoes in their private pit area. We also threw the baseball around on the over-sized empty lot right next door on an amazing warm night with an ocean breeze that kept you cool enough so you felt like you could play outdoors forever. I'd also recommend you bring your bikes (mountain preferred for the beach riding) as the local area where this sits is in a great neighborhood with flat streets and there was really nothing better than taking an evening ride along the bay and getting to see the many deer that populate this amazing area on the WA Coast. If I could give this place 10 stars I would as the owners, Tom and Sonja treated us like long time friends and made our stay one of the most special family vacations we have had in a very long time. We will def. be back and have already begun to tell others about our experience. I promise, if you love quaintness and quiet, stay here!
We went for two nights and had a great time. Our golden retriever enjoyed it also. Very clean and wonderful owners. Cabins were meticulous. Treat yourself.
My husband and I stayed here on a recent weekend to celebrate our third anniversary. We were thrilled by this very charming cabin. We brought our two small dogs and they really enjoyed it as well. The cabin was clean, spacious, and very charmingly decorated. There were only the two of us so we didn't utilize the second bedroom or the upstairs recreation loft, which looked like a wonderful entertainment space. The beach was only a few minutes' drive away and our dogs had a blast. We stayed inside the cabin almost the entire time and prepared all of our own meals and snacks. The cabin is wheelchair accessible via a ramp, and perhaps best of all, we had our own private hot tub right outside the front door! The owners were there to greet us and answer questions and were very friendly. The ONLY complaint I have about this place is the fridge. It is a half-fridge. The freezer space is teeny-tiny but not too small for ice cube trays, but there were none provided. Plus I have stayed in rental cabins that were much smaller (only one bedroom, which suits our needs perfectly) and had a full refrigerator. So that part of the cabin design I found strange. And we realized beforehand that the cabin only had a mini-fridge, but common sense dictates that ice cube trays be provided. Other than that, we had a great weekend.
Ocean Shores hosts several major festivals every year which attract huge crowds. Most of the vacation rentals and even hotels rent up very quickly due to the popularity of these events. Come and enjoy the Sand and Sawdust festival where people come from all over the country to compete in wood sculpture AND sand sculpture . Other popular events: Antique and Collectibles Show, Beach Comber Fun Fair, Razor Clam Festival, Spring Fling Arts and Crafts show, and the Festival of Colors, our kite flying competition.
Whether you want to zip down the beach on a moped or take a liesurely horseback ride, Ocean Shores is the place to do it. If shooting photos of the ever changing ocean or the wide variety of wildlife that abound here, bring you camera.
If you just can't consider traveling without your four-legged companions, know that they are always welcome at Moss Landing. Our four-legged friend is a big yellow lab named Juneau, and she loves living here close to the beach.
When the day winds down into evening, head up to the entrance to Ocean Shores and take in the weekend live entertainment at Galway Bay, our locan Irish Pub that is known far and wide for great food and bands.
Whatever it is that you're looking for in a vacation, there's a VERY good chance that you'll find it at Ocean Shores.
