About Cecilia

My name is Cecilia and I have lived in the Hubbard Lake area for over 30 years. I love to relax at the lake with my family, and enjoy connecting with families that come to visit.

Why Cecilia chose Michigan

My family purchased this cottage so that we would have a relaxing place to get away after working on the farm. We weren't looking for a condo, but something rustic and lasting that could sustain kids, grandkids and grandparents through the years.

What makes this cottage unique

What's unique about Hubbard Lake Haven is two-fold: its ability to host large groups and its amazing beachfront. Many cabins on the lake (or any lake, for that matter) often have a rocky beach, or a steep, difficult to get to beachfront. Not here. We have a beautiful sandy beach, that you can see and walk to right from the yard (yes, there ARE zebra mussels in the lake for those who are not familiar with northern Michigan lakes). The 150' wide yard and beachfront also makes it easy to accommodate large get togethers, and the tree canopy overheard and along the property offer privacy.

Expectation Management: If you are looking for a pristine home, check out Churchille Point Inn, a hotel or some other very nice homes on vrbo. If you understand that this is a cottage and operates as is, then you will be able to enjoy a fantastic waterfront that is quiet and great for families!

Beautiful cottage-beautiful lake!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a great weekend on Hubbard Lake! When I walked in I was blown away by how open and clean everything was with a beautiful view of the lake from the house. We were able to spread out with plenty of room.

My favorite part was waking up to the sound of the water and taking a swim in the lake! My whole family had a wonderful time and I would recommend you give this place a look, can't wait to come back next year !

Hubbard Haven is aptly named! What a beautiful spot.

  • 4 of 5

My daughter got married in Hubbard Lake and I rented the house for my family to stay in during the festivities. We all traveled from NY, and the house was spacious, inviting, beautifully situated right on Hubbard Lake and it truly was a haven for us. Alicia and Cecilia were helpful, gracious and warm in every interaction both over the phone and by email. Cecilia even came to check on us our first night when we were travel weary and somehow confused about how to open the door! :-)

The minor drawbacks that make it a 4/4.5 instead of 5 star were perhaps amplified by the fact that we were there for a wedding: there was not a lot of storage space for clothes to be unpacked, except for the MBR, and no closets meant the wedding dress and festive gear had to be hung from the shower rod. We also had to search out extra light bulbs for a couple of the lamps. However, the layout is great, the furniture and beds were very comfortable and even with my big family in full attendance, we never felt over crowded. We had a lovely fire out by the water, and a few hardy souls even braved a moonlit dip in the lake! My brother and his wife are still talking about falling asleep to the sounds of waves and crickets. We are all already talking about planning another trip out to visit my daughter, her husband and her wonderful new in-laws!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is cozy, roomy and clean.

  • 5 of 5

The property is located at the end of the road which provides a nice secluded feeling and a great place to park our fishing boat. A very nice dock is there to use as well. Owners are also very friendly and came to check on if we needed anything. We recommend staying here.

Awesome Lakefront Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing vacation at this beautiful Hubbard Lakefront cottage. This was our first time using Homeaway and the whole experience was outstanding. The property was very clean and cozy. Cecelia and Alicia gave us perfect customer service and were very friendly to deal with. The owner Cecelia stopped by to see if we needed anything and to answer any questions which we were impressed with. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful vacation spot. Fishing was a little slow but the few we caught were worth it. Besides fishing, we went golfing at White Pines and to Smokey's Bar nearby which we enjoyed very much. If fact we had such a nice time, we're planning a trip back next year.

Hubbard Lake is one of the cleanest spring fed lakes in Michigan. The state record for largest smallmouth bass was also just recorded here on Oct 20, 2015! Spanning over 8,500 acres in size and surrounded by beautiful forest, it offers many recreational possibilities regardless of the season. Swimming, skiing, tubing, fishing, kayaking, sailing, and just plain relaxing are great activities for the summertime heat. Majestic fall colors make for the most beautiful photography, while the wintertime ice lends itself to some of the best ice fishing "cold" spots. Nearby Alpena (20 mi) boasts NOAA (http://thunderbay.noaa.gov/), with historical and real life displays of the area's famous shipwreck and diving history, as well as a cute downtown with an ice cream shop, fountain, two movie theaters, salons, saloons and the Thunder Bay Theater (http://www.thunderbaytheatre.com/).

Other Activities: Kayaking, Canoeing
