My name is Cecilia and I have lived in the Hubbard Lake area for over 30 years. I love to come relax at the lake with my family and allow others to share in that experience at an affordable and comfortable cabin location.
My family purchased this cottage so that we would have a cool place to get away from after working at our 300 acre hobby farm. We weren't looking for a condo, but something rustic and lasting that could sustain kids, grandkids and grandparents through the years.
What's unique about the Hubbard Lake Haven is two-fold: its ability to host large groups and its amazing beachfront. Many cabins on the lake (or any lake, for that matter) often have a rocky beach, or a steep, difficult to get to beachfront. Not here. We have a beautiful sandy beach, that you can see and walk to right from the yard. The 150' wide yard and beachfront also makes it easy to accommodate large get togethers, and the tree canopy overheard and along the property offer privacy.
We had a wonderful week at this absolutely beautiful home and property. It had everything we needed and more. The beach and swimming area were great for the kids(and adults alike). Very clean and had all the comforts of home. It was a great week for the family to get together and we will definetly be back!
Had a girl's weekend here, and we had a wonderful time! Already booked for next year!
AWESOME !! My guests and I arrived with no idea what to expect. Upon arrival we found a modest looking cottage on the outside situated on a large lakefront lot with sandy beach. Upon entering the cottage we were all blown away. Simply a beautiful spacious interior. Very clean with all the amenities of home. Price was right and we all enjoyed our week we spent there. Can't wait till next year !!! ps the owner was adorable !!
No heat in upstairs 2 bedrooms, no propane for main heater, two small space heaters for 7 rooms, wood stove was ok, no matches or starter, had to fill every 2 to 3 hours all night to keep warm, definite water problem from roof leaks, 2 new dehumidifiers running 24/7. some mold in the air, bothered my wife. I had asked before renting after seeing a tarp on the roof about water issues and was told "no problems" I'm having it fixed. not enough beds for 12 people, even sleeping two in a double.
Managed to get the whole family up for vacation...and significant others....we had net 8 people and used every BR.....Weather was perfect...beautiful lot ..played Frisbee, can-jam, bag toss, catch....fished daily....used canoe, raft, and added motor to boat to troll around lake......caught nothing but perch and bass (wonderful....no bluegill like we see down south); nice beach.... plenty of room. Recommend.
I found my Hubbard Lake vacation to be very pleasant, and relaxing. It was like home away from home. I thought the place was really clean. The washer and dryer that are provided was a life saver. The two full bathrooms was a bonus. The cabin is spacious, no worries of being too close to each other. I enjoyed the Lakefront view, just breath taking. I have been coming to this location for five years and I just love it! My family and I are glad we found this place to enjoy our kid's and help make their childhood memories fun.
Hubbard Lake is one of the cleanest spring fed lakes in Michigan. The state record for largest smallmouth bass was also just recorded here on Oct 20, 2015! Spanning over 8,500 acres in size and surrounded by beautiful forest, it offers many recreational possibilities regardless of the season. Swimming, skiing, tubing, fishing, kayaking, sailing, and just plain relaxing are great activities for the summertime heat. Majestic fall colors make for the most beautiful photography, while the wintertime ice lends itself to some of the best ice fishing "cold" spots. Nearby Alpena (20 mi) boasts NOAA (http://thunderbay.noaa.gov/), with historical and real life displays of the area's famous shipwreck and diving history, as well as a cute downtown with an ice cream shop, fountain, two movie theaters, salons, saloons and the Thunder Bay Theater (http://www.thunderbaytheatre.com/).
Other Activities: Kayaking, Canoeing
