My name is Cecilia and I have lived in the Hubbard Lake area for over 30 years. I love to come relax at the lake with my family and allow others to share in that experience at an affordable and comfortable cabin location.
My family purchased this cottage so that we would have a cool place to get away from after working at our 300 acre hobby farm. We weren't looking for a condo, but something rustic and lasting that could sustain kids, grandkids and grandparents through the years.
What's unique about the Hubbard Lake Haven is two-fold: its ability to host large groups and its amazing beachfront. Many cabins on the lake (or any lake, for that matter) often have a rocky beach, or a steep, difficult to get to beachfront. Not here. We have a beautiful sandy beach, that you can see and walk to right from the yard (yes, there ARE zebra mussels in the lake for those who are not familiar with northern Michigan lakes). The 150' wide yard and beachfront also makes it easy to accommodate large get togethers, and the tree canopy overheard and along the property offer privacy. Expectation Management: If you are looking for a pristine home, check out Churchille Point Inn (http://www.churchillpointeinn.com/), a hotel or some other very nice homes on vrbo. If you understand that this is a cottage and operates as is, then you will be able to enjoy a fantastic waterfront that is quiet and great for families!
We spent a great weekend on Hubbard Lake! When I walked in I was blown away by how open and clean everything was with a beautiful view of the lake from the house. We were able to spread out with plenty of room.
My favorite part was waking up to the sound of the water and taking a swim in the lake! My whole family had a wonderful time and I would recommend you give this place a look, can't wait to come back next year !
This was our first vacation on Hubbard Lake and you can be sure we will be back! The lake is spectacular; clean, and deep for boating/tubing. This property's beachfront is wide and was great for the grandkids as well as the adults to play. It was easy to dock our 18' boat. The lot is huge so there is lots of room to have fun as well as having a large fire pit. Sunsets are beautiful! Inside the cottage, our family loved the large common area so we could all be together to enjoy eating, playing games, and just being together. Most comforts of home were provided which was great. The owners were very proactive in making sure our stay was enjoyable. We were all sad to leave and look forward to future vacations there.
We are a family of 7 who were looking for a local rental to attend a family reunion and came across Hubbard Lake Haven. Alicia and Cecelia were responsive, so kind and wonderful to work with! The property was a perfect fit for us. The home is even more spacious than we expected after seeing it online. Housekeeping standards are excellent as well! The view from this property is just majestic! They have thought of everything you could possibly need while away from home and even then some! We truly enjoyed our stay here...and my sister in law has already reached out to book again for next summer! Thanks so much ladies for the opportunity to create some pretty special memories with our children!
My family and I had a great time. Had this rustic feel basic clean and pleasant. This experience was made easy by the property manager who helped us with every detail and question we had. My family loved the easy access to the beach and the nice clean clear water. Big fire pitt with plenty of yard space for the kids to run around and play while us parents got to lounge around or watch from the great views of the house. The owner stopped by and greated us and made us feel welcome asking if we were missing anything. Will definitely be coming back next summer.
I absolutely loved the beach and clear waters. We had a blast tubing and playing in the water with family and friends. The beach has so much space to play frisbee with a big group or relax under the shade tree and read a book. The kitchen was large enough to prepare for our family's big meals every night and sit down as a group to eat inside or out. The location of this cottage can't be beat! The landlord made sure the cottage met our needs and was clean and tidy when we arrived. I will be back again, for sure!
We had a wonderful week at this absolutely beautiful home and property. It had everything we needed and more. The beach and swimming area were great for the kids(and adults alike). Very clean and had all the comforts of home. It was a great week for the family to get together and we will definetly be back!
Hubbard Lake is one of the cleanest spring fed lakes in Michigan. The state record for largest smallmouth bass was also just recorded here on Oct 20, 2015! Spanning over 8,500 acres in size and surrounded by beautiful forest, it offers many recreational possibilities regardless of the season. Swimming, skiing, tubing, fishing, kayaking, sailing, and just plain relaxing are great activities for the summertime heat. Majestic fall colors make for the most beautiful photography, while the wintertime ice lends itself to some of the best ice fishing "cold" spots. Nearby Alpena (20 mi) boasts NOAA (http://thunderbay.noaa.gov/), with historical and real life displays of the area's famous shipwreck and diving history, as well as a cute downtown with an ice cream shop, fountain, two movie theaters, salons, saloons and the Thunder Bay Theater (http://www.thunderbaytheatre.com/).
