Why Paul and Cheryl LaRue chose Punta Rassa
The breath taking views of the river, mangroves, and canal as well as the location near Sanibel, Ft. Myers Beach, Bunche Beach preserve trails and canoe park...we bike to all! Quiet neighborhood. Tranquil setting.
What makes this House unique
Again, the million dollar views and tranquility. Having the availability of walking around Shell Pt. peninsula with wildlife and river views any time of the day is wonderful! So close to beaches, restaurants, shopping, festivals yet quietly tucked away from the traffic and crowds during winter rental season.

Fabulous home, so much to do and see
We enjoyed relaxing on the lanai so much, with the peaceful water view and wild life, as well as the walk around Shell Pt. at dusk...almost always saw dolphins or manatee...the water (Caloosahatchee River) reflected the pinks and orange of the sunset. The home was very comfortable. Wonderfully equipped kitchen. Restful night's sleep in comfortable beds. Several TV's, so no problem with one person watching one program and me watching another :). The office is also very handy for private work or reading. Used the heated pool EVERY day.
We have stayed at this home before in December and February, but really enjoyed the reliability of warm days and sunshine in April. We love this home's privacy yet close proximity to Sanibel Island and Ft. Myers Beach (both with outstanding restaurants and walking beaches). And it's just a 20 minute drive to downtown Ft. Myers (music and restaurants) or the airport. We've also done daytrips to Boca Grand (lunch), Sarasota (Ringling Bros Circus Museum and Home), Naples (shopping on 5th Avenue or lunch) Venice (lunch), Matlachee (art town similar to Key West); and would recommend these. Kayaking or biking (either can be rented on Sanibel) through Ding Darling Wild Life Refuge on Sanibel is also very fun. For the younger crowd, the shopping at Ft. Myers Beach is 'colorful'. Taking the boat to Key West from Ft. Myers Beach is really convenient either for a day trip or overnight. Will definitely come back to stay at this home. (Note: we diverted to Cape Coral one year, but it's really pretty far from any activities, airport, etc.)
Beautiful location with abundant wildlife viewing. House is in very good condition and shows as pictured. Plan to return again next year.
Our favorite time on the Gulf Coast - April
We loved the location of this home to use as a base to explore...downtown Ft. Myers, Ft. Myers Beach, Sanibel. But the best part was limited tourist traffic by staying in April, which is more of a shoulder-season; and guaranteed warm, sunny weather. This home is so inviting, we actually didn’t want to leave the peaceful setting. Never got tired of watching the dolphins play in the canal, taking a refreshing swim, walking. The home itself is really comfortable. A home-away-from-home!
Great Waterfront Home
This house was fantastic and one of the best we've ever rented. And we've rented a lot of houses over the years. The home itself was so comfortable and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need. The lanai and pool area were wonderful and the pool was always at a constant 85 degrees. Beautiful. And the views were wonderful. While we didn't do too much in the Fort Myers area and thought that the six dollar toll to go to Sanibel was a bit much especially with all of the traffic, we did love the walk around Shell Point and it's fairly easy to get around on bikes. Lots of sidewalks. And while we were a bit skeptic about the home owners saying we would see dolphins from the pier by the home, they were there every single day for the entire month!!! So entertaining. Never got tired of watching for them to show up, like clock work between 5:30 and 6:30 pm. Our favorite restaurant turned out to be the Dixie Fish Company over by Fort Myers Beach. Delicious food and great views. Their Happy Hour can't be beat - two dollar draft beers. We highly recommend this home and we plan on going back.
Amazing Waterfront Getaway!!
We totally enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home...it was so comfortable and well-appointed! We loved just relaxing by the heated pool overlooking the canal and river; nearly everyday we saw dolphins swim by, and there were always fish jumping and birds flying by to entertain us as well! We also really enjoyed the neighborhood... we rode the included bikes in the afternoons, and walked/ran 'around the horn' nearly every morning- the wonderful pathways around the Shell Point Island compound included river/bay views, garden plots, a marina, and even an Orchid House! When we were able to tear ourselves away from the comfortable home, we followed the suggestions of the VERY helpful owners and explored various Farmer's Markets in the area (even one that we could walk to from the house, at Shell Point!) as well Fort Myers during the 1st Friday Art Crawl and the 3rd Friday Music Crawl... very fun! Their restaurant recommendations were excellent, as we loved the Roadhouse (great jazz) and the Lazy Flamingo (favorite grouper sandwich ever!) on Sanibel Island. Speaking of Sanibel, we really appreciated the (perfect!) location of this home, as we were very easily able to run onto Sanibel numerous times. (We also had looked for a rental home there, but found that this property was much nicer than most of them there, on beautiful water, and more reasonably priced!) Thank-you so much Cheryl and Paul, for all of your hard work, and for sharing your beautiful property with us! We will definitely be back! :-)
The time went too fast in this BEAUTIFUL home!
Our entire vacation went so smoothly...from check-in to check-out. We went to quite a few of the homeowner's recommended activities and events (first Friday art walk and third Friday music walk in downtown Ft. Myers, Barbara B Mann performing arts, quaint Arcade Theater--plays, Ding Darling wildlife sanctuary, many farmer's markets and art fairs) and restaurants. There were 2 bikes to use and many great biking and walking paths. Sometimes we just spent the entire day by the pool watching all the wildlife in the canal. The time went by so fast! We loved every moment of our stay, and completely enjoyed the beautiful home and private water front setting.
World renowned sugar sand beaches of Sanibel Island are just minutes away, as well as the colorful beach front restaurants and shops of Ft. Myers Beach, and tranquil palm tree-lined beach and canoe park at Bunche Beach.
The Lighthouse Marina and Punta Rassa Marina are 5 minutes away, boat rental at Sanibel and Ft. Myers Beach marinas 15 minutes away, deep sea fishing excursions and Key West Express boat also just 15 minutes away.
If bird or wild life watching is your passion, this SW Florida location offers some of the best...Ding Darling on Sanibel, 6-Mile Cypress Slough and Lakes Park in Ft Myers, Koreshan State Park in Bonita Springs, Naples Zoo. Dolphin watching cruises leave from Sanibel Harbor Resort (3 miles away) or Cativa's South Sea Plantation.
Shell Point's Woodlands Golf Course is less than one mile away.
One of SW Florida's best Farmer's Markets is located nearby in stunning Lakes Park every Wednesday (Oct-April). The park also offers 275 acreas of walking and biking trails as well as conoe and paddle boat rentals. Several other Farmer's Markets are just minutes away as well.
Enjoy the art crawls or music crawls of downtown Ft. Myers as well as the numerous weekend art shows of Sanibel, Cape Coral, Ft. Myers, Estero, Bonita Springs, and Naples. Can't miss the sand sculpture contest or Shrimp Fest on Ft. Myers Beach!
If you're up for a short drive, the Florida Everglades are about 1.5 hours away. Other great day trips would be to see the Ringling Bros Circus Museum or Dali Museum in Sarasota, Bush Gardens in Tampa, infamous South Beach in Miami, the quaint artistic community of Matlacha...known as 'little Key West'. Orlando/Disneyland is 3.5 hours away.
Just outside your door are biking, walking, and roller blading paths. The bicycle ride over the Sanibel Causeway is stunning. Ride for miles adjacent to Summerlin Rd. on it's designated bike/pedestrian path...connecting to other bicycle trails and The Twins baseball stadium.
If jet skiing, parasailing, paddle boating are on your adjenda head to Ft. Myers Beach...just 15 minutes away.
Or just enjoy the tranquil pool side setting watching the birdlife, dolphins, and manatee in this home's back yard.
