Perfect escape from winter weather! Tranquility Nassau is exactly as described. It is in a well secured and safe location, a short distance from everything, but feels like you are miles from anything and everyone. We chose to have a car for the week we were there, and while not a complete necessity, I think it was worth the convenience. Made trips to restaurants, the grocery store, liquor store, and Saunders Beach (don't miss it!) hassle free. We never rode a jitney, but we saw them everywhere, so that is clearly an option.
The property's location is worth the rental fee. Located directly on the ocean, with an expansive patio overlooking the water, you could spend your entire time just enjoying the view from the patio. But don't! Grab your snorkel and scamper over the rocks to enjoy some of the best snorkeling ever! My son is an aquarist and noted almost 50 different species in the waters directly behind the condo. Snorkel on a calm day as the waters get stirred up and cloudy on windy days. You can also safely and easily enter the water from the beach or dock on the other side of the property.
Besides the gorgeous views and snorleling, you can enjoy the two pools, which we had to ourselves the entire week, and never leave the property. This condo is a real find, and a gem...don't miss the opportunity to spend some time in paradise at Tranquility Nassau! We will be back!
Fabulous time in Tranquility Nassau, AGAIN!
We just came home from our second vacation at Tranquility Nassau and it was wonderful. We were delighted to see that it has been up-dated since our last visit with new carpet, furniture, and the kitchen was also up-dated with new pots and pans and more knives and forks. We are a family with two kids and one friend came along this time. Just like our last visit the house had everything we needed and more. Barbara, the property manager was very helpful, as usual she met us when we arrived, gave us the keys and showed us the property. It is in a gated compound, very secure. We used the gas BBQ on the patio for fresh fish dinners. The house has three levels and each has its own air conditioning unit which was great for us because we each like to control the thermostat. There is an entertainment center, cable TV, surround sound, and a large selection of music and movies, all recent releases and even movies for kids. Also, our kids really liked the X-Box 360 and games. There are two pools and we had them all to ourselves, the beach had very few people and the calm serf was great for our kids. We caught the jitney bus outside the front gate and rode downtown and back with stops along the way at the resorts on Cable Beach. We also took a day trip to Atlantis. I can’t say enough about the oceanfront view from the patio; it is unbelievable, especially at sunset. We will definitely be coming back!
Our family of 4 and our grown children's friends just returned from a week at tranquility nassau. Overall, we had an amazing experience but there are a few things that could be done to make this rental even better.
First the good - the location of this townhouse is amazing. it is only a short walk to the exit when you're going to catch a jitney which we did - often more than once a day.
- the direction that this townhouse faces is amazing - the sunsets are something out of this world and hearing the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks outside your bedroom as youre falling asleep is very soothing
- it is extremely spacious - each of the bedrooms has an ensuite (2 with baths) and there is a powder room on the main floor too.
the not so good:
- since there is no security guard at the entrance until 4pm, make sure to take the code with you - or memorize it so that you can open the gate yourself. Once we forgot it and one of us had to scale the high fence. Also, it was changed during the week and had our neighbour not informed us, we would not have known this
- the jitneys were amazing - very frequent and inexpensive (1.25 per adult each way), but they stop between 6 and 7pm depending on the day of the week so if you dont have a car (and we didnt want one because they drive on the opposite side of the road), you will need to take a taxi which is quite expensive
- on a positive note, there are 2 restaurants on the side of the street that this townhouse is located and several other good restaurants across the street at sandy port resort. However, crossing the street and walking to the restaurant or supermarket is taking your lives into your hands as there is no traffic light and no sidewalks so one needs to walk single file with cars whizzing by which can be quite frightening at night
- this townhouse, while quite comfortable and as I said, very spacious, needs some attention and updating. the drain in the kitchen sink is corroded, when we arrived there was a terrible smell coming from the garburator and Barbara (the manager) had to pour bleach down to rectify the issue. The white leather couches are turning yellow in places and parts of the furniture in the bedrooms are chipping. The TV in the bedrooms are tiny. Also, there was only one frying pan which was very old and dirty and even though we requested another and Barbara said she would bring it, she never did (overall she was very helpful). Would be nice if owner did some upgrading
The condo is nicely decorated, well appointed with everything we could possibly want, and best of all, has a beautiful terrace directly facing the ocean. It was so very nice to have our meals or just enjoy drinks watching the water and sky. It's a very short walk to the beach and pools. Both pools are nice; from the one you can climb one of two ladders to access the ocean, a plus for someone like my son who is not a big sand person. My husband and I loved the beach, private and quiet, very different from what you find outside most of the hotels and resorts. One piece of advice: Think about renting a car. We didn't and it was fine, but the jitneys stop at 7 pm and the cost of taking cabs can add up if you go farther away for dinner or for other evening activities in Nassau or thereabouts. Would definitely recommend this place.
We just finished a weeklong vacation at Tranquility Nassau (TN). The weather was disappointing; the rental was not. When you open the front door you will see the view out the back, through the sliding glass doors at the rear in the living room - the aqua colored ocean appeared to be just on the other side of the door.
There are steps up into the apartment. When you enter the kitchen is on the left. It has a refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher and blender. (There are dishes, pots and pans and silverware, but no large pans, few bowls, and insufficient silverware, and there are also tiny ants - a common problem we've encountered in tropical pkaces - so we kept our cookies, crackers, cereal, etc. in the fridge. Please don't mistake these comments for an indication we were unhappy - we loved the place.
On the right side as you enter is a powder room. Past that through the entrance hall there is a washer and dryer in a closet. On the other side of the pass through kitchen counter, is a dining table for four. Past the dining area is the living room, which features an off- white leather couch, lovesear and chair - comfortable seating for six. There is a TV, game system, music system and surround sound speakers for the entertainment center. There are some games, but bring your own cards.
The patio is amazing. The table easily seats more than six. There is a gas grill and one lounge chair.
The patio is right over the ocean. When it is calm there is a location a few apartments away where you can climb down and snorkel, but sadly, not our week. There is an automated awning you can use if the sun is too hot. Wifi works sometimes on the first floor - the router is on the third. The decor is beachy, and perfect for the location. There is a screen door so you can leave the door open, but one screen was recently torn by a stray cat that likes to visit - don't let it in.
The second floor has two bedrooms. The master is smaller than the third floor bedroom but has a balcony overlooking the ocean. There was the occasional mosquito but no real bug problem at night. The third floor bedroom had a table and chairs. I believe all beds were queens. Each bedroom had a bathroom and TV. Not much dresser space but lots of closet space. There are plenty of towels, and chairs for use at the beach. The pool areas have several lounge chairs. Lovely place.
Clean, well maintained and in good shape. No surprises. Property was as described. Great views of the sunset from the patio overlooking the ocean. The palm tree was a nice touch. Property was in a nice complex, gated, felt very comfortable. Great location. Easy travel into town as well as the west coast. Dining and groceries all within a few minutes drive. I'd stay there again.
