The Manatee Bay has the best of all worlds. It has a large custom fiberglass pool situated next to a 2oft+ deep and beautiful swim able and fishable lagoon. We also have a Nordic Hot Tub and a new pool table. For 2010 we put 1.5 more baths between the back bedrooms. The Lagoon is filled with all sorts of different wildlife, including an occasional manatee, turtles, and all sorts of fish. There is Quick access to the open Gulf at the end of the lagoon, with a large dock out into the deep water with room for 3 boats. The back deck of the manatee that overlooks the lagoon is gigantic, plenty of space for socializing and taking in the view, or getting a suntan. It also shades part of the pool so that you can enjoy some of the pool even after you have has enough sun. The manatee even has a heating system for the pool, and laser lighting to light up the pool for a neat display at night. One side of the deck is totally screened so that nothing can interrupt your good time.
The open floor plan of the Manatee Lagoon is great for large parties; the big great room and open kitchen make a perfect location for spending your vacation during meal times. The underneath of the home is totally open for covered parking out of the Keys Sunshine. Marathon License #PLR2003-00134

For 2008 we have a great pool table by the pool, perfect for keeping an eye on those little ones while unwinding after a hards day of play on the water. There are so many neat creatures in the lagoon to see at the Manatee that you will be amazed. It is the perfect place to Kayak, or Snorkel, that is why we include the kayaks with the rental.
We also offer the lowest price in boat rentals for your weekly trip to the Keys. They range from a 17'-28' Boston Whaler, 4 stroke yamaha outboards. They are delivered right to the dock and picked up at the end of the week.
We had a wonderful time in this house with my family of 4 and my sister's family of 4. It is in a great location, with a beautiful view. We loved the private pool and seeing all the iguanas near the property. We saw so much wildlife this week! The pelicans are a joy to watch and we were even visited by a dolphin one evening! Having the kayaks included is a plus, we enjoyed them everyday. Our kids enjoyed snorkeling right off the dock, but we did see jellyfish that came in at certain times of day. They wore dive skins to protect themselves and had a blast. There are lots of small fish that come by - but one day we saw a school of parrot fish and the last day we saw a tarpon! Lots of sea turtles out in the bay too.
The house itself needs attention - you can tell this is a rental and shows some signs of wear. There were two holes punched in the wall, the blinds were broken on some of the windows, and a lot of the doors didn't work right. The hot tub did not work or heat up for our entire stay. The grill was out of gas but the owners did refill the propane for us that day when we called. I would have appreciated a manual from the owners telling us how to work the TV, cable, recommended things to do in the area, etc. We never figured out the DVD player. The two bedrooms share one of the bathrooms, with doors on either side divided by a common shower - quite odd - and this gave no privacy and was unfortunate. The vents were not working in two of three bathrooms. The bedroom with the double bed had a very loud fan that came on every so often. However, beautiful master bathroom with HUGE shower and very nice large TV in the main living area. Lots of plates, dishes, and silverware! You will have to provide everything - such as toilet paper, soap, garbage bags, foil, dish tabs, laundry soap, etc as none of that is provided.
In the area, just a short drive away is the convenience of grocery stores, beautiful Sombrero Beach, which I found prettier than Bahia Honda, and loved eating at Sunset Grill and the Island Fish Company, all on Marathon.
The house was very clean and had everything needed to make us feel at home. Well stocked with dishes and everything else we needed for our stay. The pool was great. Everyone had a blast in the kayaks in the nice lagoon. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a place to rent. We are looking forward to staying here again next year. Perfect place for the perfect vacatio .
We loved staying here. The house was clean and we'll stoked with dishes and everything else we needed. The lagoon was awesome. Everyone had a blast in the kayaks. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone else and we look forward to coming and staying here again next year.
Property has a slightly musty smell upon arrival. Great kitchen/dining/ living room area- makes cooking and hanging out a blast. Master bedroom large and comfortable but shower doesn't drain well and floor felt slimy all week. ONLY 3 bathrooms- you enter one through two of the rooms and the doors don't lock so someone can always pop in on you. Light switches for many of the lights didn't work and a lot of bulbs burned out- annoying. Best part is the screened in room but unfortunately mid week a work was done on the hedges- load noise all afternoon and when they finished the 'no-see-em' or sand flies were so bad we couldn't stand to be outside. Didn't look like the house was rented the week before or after our visit so we were disappointed that this work had to happen while we were there. Left tons of leaves in the pool. Hot tub wouldn't heat on its own. We boiled water on the stove and brought it down a pot at a time- after 2 hrs we got it up to 102 and it stayed warm for the next 24-48 hours. Wish there had been a scooper for the pool and a broom for upstairs
Just getting home from a week at Manatee Lagoon. The house was wonderful and comfortable. The bathrooms were awesome - had rainfall shower from above and 3 shower heads mid body. We were all loving that!
I enjoyed the screened in porch looking at the little bay outside morning and evening. The pool was very nice and comfortable. We didn't use the hottub because it never warmed up but worked hard trying!
The biggest treat was the day that 9 manatees came visiting in the neighborhood Lagoon. We were kayaking around (kayaks there) and they were very friendly - coming up to see what we were about. So cool! This might become my "happy place" where I go in my head when I need to sleep or to calm down! It has always been Jamaica in the past but this might be good too.
Great vacation spot for a family or friends and family. TV's in all rooms - that was a nice touch too. This is a great house - we had 8 folks and all had beds in the 4 bedrooms. Very comfortable and nice and well taken care of! I'd love to go back sometime soon.
There were 8 of us celebrating a college graduation and a 50th birthday. The Manatee Lagoon was perfect for us. The house had a large king bedroom with a huge shower; the middle bedroom had a fairly worn queen bed; the 3rd bedroom had a double or queen; and the fourth bedroom had two twin beds! I would suggest making the double bedroom a queen bed for more comfortable sleeping. The newest bathroom added is awesome with a great shower and two individual toilets. We had plenty of room to cook and enjoyed the outside patio with the great breeze at night for dinner. We had fun fishing off the pier and rented a boat through a company in Marathon and had a great place to pull into. One day, 9 manatees happened into the cove and the boys used the kayaks to look at them. One of our group tried to swim around them, but the neighbors said that it was not allowed. It would be nice to know the rules and regs regarding the manatees (maybe put it on the fridge). The pool was pristine and the hottub never really got over 94 degrees so we never got into it. We enjoyed watching the sunset several nights at Pinchers Perch, one night in the boat and the last night from Mallory Square in Key West. We all went fishing, but never caught anything that we could keep (due to size). We would return to this house in the future, but we drove down to the keys and it is really quite a long way from Atlanta! So probably will go back to Destin ! Overall, a great fun time and a much needed vacation! We were sorry to go! I took pictures of the new showers and hope to duplicate them in our house when I win the lotto!
