Ever since 1984, I’ve been coming to Pratt Lake. My wife and I knew we’d be going back to Pratt as often as we could. As our family grew to four children and a goldendoodle, we found Pratt to be the perfect place to take the kids and pup. They couldn't get enough of the lake. There was no question, we had to invest in our own 'Pratt Lake cabin.' We hope you'll enjoy all that Pratt Lake and northern Michigan has to offer. You'll want to keep coming back too! TJ and Maureen, Portage, MI.
Tom purchased this cottage in 2007
My family bought on Pratt Lake 30 years ago and I spent every summer on the lake as a child. When our cottage was listed in 2007, we knew we wanted to create memories for our children just the same and bought it the same day it listed.
My family came to the cottage with our dog. The cottage was spacious and the lake was gorgeous. There were plenty of chairs and places to sit near the water. There was firewood and we made smores. The place was perfect. It was a hot weekend (over 80 degrees) and the ceiling fans and cross breeze was all we needed. We hope to be back next year. We even found a wonderful ice cream place really close by.
We rent a cottage every summer and this was by far our favorite one. Beds are comfortable, layout is perfect for our family of 5 with room for the grandparents to come stay a few days. Neighbor's are friendly. We had a great time and will be back.
Wow. This place is amazing. The first thing I did when I walked in was text the owner asking him if he did the interior of this place. It is stunning. This was probably the cleanest cabin I've ever stayed in while using VRBO. A hop away from Gladwin. Fun little town. Lot's of dirt roads to burn down. haha. Fishing was a tad scarce. Mind you we got there right as a cold, cold front had just settled in for a few days. I'd say try your luck late at night or early in the morning. There are fish in there. Had a few try and hit my Fat Bomber "A" around 10:30pm. The neighbors next door are so so kind. Great people. We were almost out of fire wood and he brought over an armload and set it next to our fire. Now THAT is what I call kindness. (oh and they have great personalities too..just an FYI)
Thank you so much for letting us use your place for a few days. We really enjoyed it.
My girlfriend and I spent Monday-Saturday on Pratt Lake at this wonderful cottage. The cottage itself was very clean and homey. It was perfect for the two of us or more with plenty of room. It did come with a TV, but we never watched it as the breathtaking views from the porch and backyard were enough entertainment. The cottage was kept plenty cool by all the ceiling fans, there were plenty of plates and utensils as well. The cottage recently been updated which was very nice. The lake itself was very calm and peaceful and easy to canoe in. There were barely any weeds or muck to deal with. We already talked about coming back again next summer.
The cottage was great, the beach was great, the neighbors were friendly. Everything was great for us on our stay even the weather. The homeowner was always available to answer questions. I am looking forward to staying here again.
Cabin is pretty basic, owners description is spot on. Cabin was clean and had everything we needed (except food of course.) The lake was awesome and just as described. We didn't catch many fish, but I would think that is from the boat traffic on the lake which was fairly heavy during our stay. There is also great biking trails within 1 mile of the cabin. The reasons I only gave a 3 star rating are: The neighbors are very very close, (they are also the owners family and the weekend we were there they had a big crowd up, including lots of kids), pretty much you cannot have a conversation on the property without someone hearing you and you can also hear everyone else's conversation. So you can expect next to no privacy, which for some is no big deal but this weekend was mine and my husbands 1st solo vacation since we had a baby and we were looking for something a little quieter and with a little more privacy. Also the shower head is very low and you have to do weird backbends and what not to wash your hair, that wasn't much fun. The stove worked intermittently and is leaning to one side so some of our food cooked a little funny and the microwave is not usable (it sparks on the inside.) We couldn't use the outside gas grill either, there was still a lot of food "leavins" left on it and it had a funny smell, so we opted just to use our little charcoal grill we had brought with us. These were only all minor complaints and issues we had and overall we had a good time and enjoyed the cabin, even if we didn't exactly get the romantic getaway we were hoping for. The owner is super nice and was easy to work with. We will most likely not return just for the fact that the cabin is so close to the neighbors, that's just our personal preference though.
