I choose to buy a vacation rental unit in the Juliet building because the view from the suite is like a dream in Heaven. The gorgeous Sunsets down over the Pacific Ocean horizon and under the majestic snow-capped mountains. Every day the picture is different and more beautiful. From the living-dining room and the bedroom there is a 180 degree panoramic views of the Inner Harbour and the Victoria City Centre. It is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever seen. Once I saw it I wanted to share that beauty with the rest of the world.
There are two beautiful Juliet balconies - one located in the living-dining room and one in the bedroom overlooking the Pacific Ocean with a panoramic view of the Victoria Inner Harbour and City centre. Relax on the sofa in the dining room or dine or enjoy the magnificent sunset from the privacy of your own bedroom while inhaling the fresh summer breeze coming from the Pacific ocean through the French doors of your suite. Capture the magic and romance of the city. On Canada day you can view the glories fireworks from the privacy of your living-dining room or from the Juliet balcony
The suite is very well-appointed and well-maintained. Beautiful view of downtown. Easy walking distance to so many Victoria attractions, shops and restaurants. Building is very secure. Rooftop is amazing.
Our first night was the Saturday of a long weekend and there was definitely an issue with noise downtown. After the weekend was done it was much better.
Overall would definitely recommend.
First, let me say that given everything that happened, I have no regrets about staying here. The room was very nice and had a great view. It was the customer service that was lacking and hopefully they make improvements in this area.
When we checked in, we were given the option to have someone meet us there. (You definitely want to have someone meet you there because there is no way to use the elevator without a key fob.) So a woman (Diane) met us there and the code we were given for our room didn't work (the room is locked with a code). So even if we had made it upstairs on our own, we would not have been able to get in. Then, the two fobs that were left there didn't work either. If she hadn't figured this out, at some point we would've been stuck outside with no way to get in. She managed to leave us with one key fob that worked. Unfortunately, she didn't know the area (she had just moved there) and couldn't answer any questions about where the nearest store was, etc.
There is a binder in the room with info in it, however the restaurant discounts mentioned don't exist. There was supposed to be a discount for the Indian restaurant Sizzling Tandoor, but the restaurant said there wasn't. Also, the binder mentions a coupon that isn't there.
We were there for 11 days in July and the room gets afternoon sun, so it gets very warm in the afternoons. There is no central A/C and no one told us that there was a portable A/C unit in the closet. We finally found this on the third day and started using it. It works very well, just put the vent hose outside the balcony door.
We considered using the rooftop BBQ but it was dirty, even though people are supposed to clean it after they use it. The view up there is nice, however the seats are not very comfortable and it can get quite windy so it's not somewhere that you want to hang out.
After being there about a week, we got a call from the downstairs entry. I wasn't expecting anyone, nor did I know how to buzz anyone in. A few minutes later, people were trying to get into our room, using a different code. It was quite frightening! I called Radie's number and a man answered, saying they were supposed to check into the room next to us. I felt really bad for the family, whose wife had to go back downstairs just to call someone. No one came to help them.
Overall, I felt like the people managing these units were not very organized or responsive. I would wait days and sometimes get no email response.
My husband and I spent 3 nights here at the beginning of December. It is a beautiful building in a very convenient location. The condo has everything you'll need for a ocomfortable stay. The owners were very helpful and accommodating. I would stay here again.
This is a corner, top-floor unit, and the rooftop deck has some pretty great views. The unit itself has an abundance of windows and glass doors, so there is plenty of natural light inside. The owner was helpful and very courteous. It is not in the most touristy part of town, but well under a mile from it, and we enjoyed a little walk. I'm also not sure I would really want to stay in the touristy part of town. One of the best things about it was Lady Marmalade, the restaurant downstairs. The only downside when we were there was that apparently somewhere within a block or two is a nightclub with some pretty loud music. I'm a pretty deep sleeper, and it still woke me up once or twice. But it seemed to not be open more than one night a week when we were there. And there was a lot going on around town that week. An aircraft carrier was docked or anchored nearby, which apparently is quite rare. It was on the news, even. On the whole, I liked this rental almost as much as I like Victoria itself, and I really, really loved visiting Victoria.
P.S.: Its been too long since I visited for me to enter the date of my arrival, which was on or about June 9, 2014. But it's a required field so I had to fib.
We enjoyed our time immensely in Victoria but were a tad disappointed with the lack of attention to detail in the condo. The Juliet was apparently booked for part of our stay though it was not updated on the website so stayed in the room just below this one. The condo itself is extremely clean and a perfect size for two. Like the last reviewers we were not picked up at the airport which would have been really nice. The young lady who cleans, met us prior to our expected check-in to provide us with all the details of our stay. She was extremely kind but I got a sense she is run ragged. All of our previous VRBO have had spices, condiments, etc from previous owners which is a huge help...that being said, perhaps there are reasons the owners do not want this sort of stuff left around. My comment regarding the little things....lets get some quality toilet paper and kleenex to start with....for the small extra cost it adds to the stay. Though we loved it in Victoria and the amenities within walking distance we would not stay here again. There was construction noise every morning right below us and it was very loud on the streets below during some of our evenings. We want to thanks Sam for her assistance throughout our stay.
This was our second stay at the Juliet, each visit we find ourselves staying longer and longer. Radie and her team are warm, welcoming and efficient. Radie and her team met us at the airport with a shuttle, and gave us directions to help us navigate Victoria while also pointing out some local landmarks. Each suite we stayed in is clean, fresh,spacious and well laid out. We were able to have an amazing view on the 11th floor. The suite is equipped with an in suite washer and dryer and a dishwasher beyond convenient. The fall weather was mild enough that we were able to use the roof top BBQ and enjoy the view. The Juliet is located in the centre of downtown. The building is safe, secure, quiet and so well kept. We were out and about every single day, with everything being within walking distance including some restaurants fit for foodies as well as some charming local shops. We have recommended Radie and her team to our close friends and family, my husband and I are looking forward to our next trip out to Victoria. We will be staying at the Juliet again!
