We fell in love with Captiva after a short visit to the gulf coast in 1998. We had just build a vacation home in Breckenridge, Colorado but after finding Captiva we decided that we love the warm weather and the beautiful beach more more than the cold. We quickly sold the mountain property and purchased our lovely Life's a Beach cottage located in the heart of the island. We have never regretted buying the cottage and love to spend as much time as possible in Captiva. This island is a wonderful place and the beaches and sunsets magnificent.
We are sure you will fall in love with Captiva and Life's a Beach too.

Captiva is the most beautiful tropical island in the US.
The one thing all our quests comment on is that they feel like they have left reality and stress behind and truly felt like living in paradise for a while. Leave all your worries on the mainland and enjoy our beautiful island and our relaxing cottage.
We so enjoyed our stay at your fabulous beach cottage. We were trying to figure out how not to leave! Your property feels like one is in the tropics with all the greenery, which also offers a wonderful sense of privacy. The location on Wightman Lane has to be one of the best on the island-close enough to everything within walking distance in town- but also feels like it is far away from civilization. The size is perfect and the kitchen is nicely equipped which is unusual. The colors in the home are so vibrant, perfect for a beach motif! We have already discussed weeks we would like to reserve in October and next spring!
We had a wonderful, relaxing time at "Life is a beach". The cottage is very nicely decorated and fully equipped. We found everything we needed. There is a luxuriant vegetation all around the cottage. The beds are very confortable. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi and the outside terraces as well. It's close to the beach (walk to) and the Captiva Beach is so nice! We've been shelling and walking a lot. The Island store for grocery shopping is at walking distance, so are some other places like the restaurants Bubble room, a Mexican, a beach and souvenirs shop... You can watch the sunset from the beach and enjoy a drink from the Pub close by while watching it. We went to the Farmer's Market on Sanibel, drove to the Sanibel lighthouse, explored the JN Ding Darling Refuge, played some of the games we found in the living room, stayed at the beach and enjoyed the calm and the view. We would definitely love to come back!
Life's a Beach is wonderful, a beach cottage paradise. It has so many amenities, exactly as described. The cottage is bright and clean and in a lovely, very quiet neighborhood. The property is comfortable and well maintained. Each year we notice improvements and new items for guests to use, a new grill this year. Though we didn't cook, other than quick breakfasts, it's nice to have the option, with a grill and full kitchen. This was our third visit, and we've already booked our fourth. I anxiously await our return every year, sometimes watching sunsets on The Mucky Duck webcam. Our favorite things are the beach decor, lush plants and trees, the hot tub, nightly sunsets less than a block away, and good restaurants within easy walking distance or a short drive away. We bought a coupon book through the Sanibel-Captiva Kiwanis Club for $35 with many buy one/get one entree coupons (keep an eye on their Facebook page for when they go on sale).
There is so much to do in the Captiva-Sanibel area! We simply love it and take full advantage of what there is to do, plus relaxing, of course! This year we went shelling at low tide at Bowman's Beach (score!), attended a beach walk with a marine biologist at Island Inn in Sanibel (register through Bailey Matthews National Shell Museum, in person or on their website), kayaked around Buck Key with Adventure Sea Kayak from Tween Waters property (many birds, a small shark, dolphins swimming not even six feet away, a cormorant named Carl that lands on the kayaks watching for fish stirred up by the paddles), drove through J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge to see birds, crab races at The Crow's Nest Restaurant at Tween Waters (what a hoot, at least once in a lifetime), and went to hear Randy Wayne White speak about his brand new book in the Hannah series, "Seduced." This series is good, but don't miss his Doc Ford series. We did a one-day trip to Key West from Ft. Myers Beach on the Key West Express catamaran. In Key West, we went to the Butterfly Museum, Ernest Hemingway's home, Southernmost point buoy for pictures, Southernmost Cafe for a delicious lunch, and Schooner Wharf bar for a quick drink before boarding for our return.
I highly recommend Life's a Beach!
The property was wonderful. Perfectly located, well maintained and private. My wife and I had a fantastic time and will definitely book with you again.
Everything at life's a beach was as described. It was very relaxing, and decorated so perfectly we wanted to stay forever. Close to the beach and local restaurants . We will definatly return couldn't have wished for a better place to stay .
Overall for the money this location is ideal...very cozy feel...also was a great place because they accepted pets which was my primary reason for taking this place ...however ...I wish the owner would go there when it is not rented ...the dryer hood is completely rusted out ...the beach toy area needs attention ...the shower faucet in the master needs to be looked at ...many bulbs are out..the refrigerator needed attention when we were there it wasn't cold enough...maybe it's because it's next to the oven ??? Positive is it is cozy and shabby chic and 5 minutes to the beach ...but I will look around next time we go to captiva...we always stayed at sundial for many years and decided to try a house because of my dogs but if we decide next year to do the house thing I will do my research .
My friends and I rented this cute house for a week. We had a blast. Lots of laughs. Beach everyday. The water was amazing. We rented bikes rode around checked out the neighborhood. Will return.
