Wood Cliff Cabin is a secluded four-season retreat, a small hand-built haven providing luxurious beauty and alternative energy, perched on a cliff, 80' above a mountain stream. One room convenience includes a queen loft bed, fully equipped kitchen, deck and plenty of storage. In the adjacent bath house you will find the sauna, shower and composting toilet. Beautiful details complement the treetop views, including the 80’ cliff overlooking our mountain creek. Your host built this unique cabin in 2009, using ten different woods, with forest-honoring window friezes, custom metalwork and local stone.
The cabin is a five minute walk from your car. We will deliver you and your luggage to the site in our Kubota utility vehicle, which you may use during your stay. Once you arrive, we will introduce you to the energy systems. 12-volt batteries supply power for LED lighting, stereo, a ceiling fan, as well as cell phone and laptop charging. Propane runs the refrigerator, cook stove, a wall heater, a Weber grill on the deck, and additional lighting. A lovely woodstove provides warmth and charm. Our delicious well water is gravity-fed to the cabin and bath house.
We welcome travelling contemplatives, romantics, naturalists and artists to our hermitage.
When you are seeking restoration that uninterrupted time offers, come to our quiet retreat and become one with the forest.
Experience conscious consumption and focused attention to details. Enjoy the heightened awareness that only solitude brings.
Give yourself a solo or couple vacation devoted to recovering peace and joy. Slow down to the rhythm of nature and your own pace.
Mike is a professional cabinet and furniture maker. He built the entire cabin as if it were a cabinet and furnished the interior with his own work. Nancy is a calligrapher and artist, and her work adorns the inside of the cabin as well. Our house is five minutes from the cabin, so we are generally available to assist you in any way necessary.
michael kryzytski purchased this cabin in 2009
Mike and Nancy have been dreaming of building a small cabin and sauna on this property since 1989. In 2005 Mike built the wood-fired sauna which now also houses the shower and toilet for the adjacent cabin, which was completed in the Spring of 2010. The property is ideally situated, minutes from the Bald Eagle State Forest in one direction and the historic town of Lewisburg, 15 minutes in the other direction.
Listen to the quiet music of the creek, the soft song of the wind in the trees, the welcome interruptions of birds’ many calls. Smell the clean forest air, fragrant pines, pennyroyal or even skunk cabbage! Enjoy the rich mossy forest floor and cozy wood fires. Observe the play of light, constantly changing. Sun rises late to wake you in the loft bed, then sparkles on the water and projects surprise animations and shadows all around the cabin before setting over the deck. Your fresh meals grilled out on the deck or enjoyed inside wake up your taste buds. Perhaps you’ll try a wintergreen berry? Our pure clean well water is truly delicious. Wade in the shallow creek and dunk in the deeper pools. Play with clay from the banks, hug those trees, and touch the stones, bones and cones you will find. In Winter, fire-up the sauna and experience the refreshing feeling.
This is the third time that we have stayed at the Wood Cliff Cabin. As usual we had a very good time both relaxing at the cabin and the stream and bicycling the Rail Trail from Lewisburg to Miflinburg. We would stay here any chance we get & would highly recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to relax and participate in any activities in the Lewisburg area.
we had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin that was very lovingly built. quiet little wooded area with a path down to a creek that you can hear from the cabin above. very private. we spent the evenings grilling food and listening to the creek and the birds. on Saturday we went on a ten mile hike through bald eagle state forest - which is just a 5 minute drive down the road. the hosts are very nice people
We had a great time at the cabin. Everything was ready to go for us and Micheal met us upon arrival. I recommend staying here.

The cabin is a small, warm and cozy handcrafted retreat. The bed feels like heaven and all the accommodations make you feel right at home. It is a blessing to wake up to the sound of the stream and travel less than two miles away to the bald eagle state park for a day of adventure. The host are a very sweet couple and extreme hospitable. Do yourself a favor an escape your reality for a few days here at this amazing cabin.
