About Merrie Yelvington

Merrie and Conway grew up in a sleepy east coastal town in Florida. They both love water sports and never really thought about having a place in the mountains until a friend bought some property in SC. So they decided to check it out on a camping trip. Riding around, driving down roads trying to get lost, they came across Eastatoe Valley and River and totally fell in love with the area. Next day they found a Realtor and he showed them several different properties but none compared to what they found on our own (but they did not see any for sale signs). Anyway, the Realtor said that he just listed this piece of property the night before, the sign was not up yet, and he ask if they wanted to go see it. Well, long story short, Merrie and Conway had been to the property the day before and it was the same property they had seen on their own. Needless to say, they were extremely excited! They felt it was meant to be so they bought it. It was more property than they wanted so they developed and sold a couple lots and kept the best 10 acres for them. This is where Green Bird Trail Cabin is!

Why Merrie Yelvington chose Lake Keowee

The area has mountains, hiking, fishing, boating all within a few minutes of the cabin

What makes this cabin unique

We enjoy hiking up to Table Rock, Twin Falls and the trails on Ceasar Head. I guess our favorite thing to do is fish the streams and the river, just below our cabin. We love the fresh trout we catch (lightly floured and pan fried in a little butter - yum)! All the windows in the cabin have views of the mountains and we find ourselves mesmerized by the surrounding natural beauty. Another past time at the cabin is it is a great place to unwind and catch up on a good novel.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect. It was well stocked with any kind of utensil one could need. There was plenty of space for everyone, the master bedroom is the only bedroom on it's floor so it was like having one floor to yourself. We loved the spacious backyard and were even able to play volleyball there. The cabin is very centrally located. We were able to visit TableRock Park and Jocassee lake and twin Falls was just a couple of miles away. We had a blast staying there and the cabin is more spacious than you imagine it and that is definitely a great thing for a large group of friends on a trip.

Wonderful for families

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this property twice now and love it so much. My family (my husband, me and our two sons ages 12 and 9) stayed here in the summer and loved the place. It's secluded but with a lot of space to run around. We decided to come back for New Years with another family (2 adults and 3 girls). The kids had a great time playing ping pong in the basement and running around and exploring the property. Loved the fire pit outside and the fireplace inside. We had everything we needed and the cabin is beautiful. We will definitely be staying there again.

Perfect Homebase to Explore Upstate SC

  • 5 of 5

This clean, beautiful, well decorated, well appointed home was the perfect place for us to stay as we explored upstate South Carolina. The house was recently built and had everything we needed for an easy, comfortable (luxurious) stay. The porches and views are wonderful. We watched the sunset every evening over the mountains and listened to the crickets and coon dogs singing in the valley. We were perfectly placed to explore Table Rock Park, Lake Jocasse, Pretty Place, Lake Keowee, Caesar's Head, Hagood's Mill and other up country attractions as well as Greenville and Asheville. Merrie was easy to work with, responsive and very helpful.

More Than Just A Getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in April for a long weekend getaway and we've been talking about it ever since. So quiet, peaceful and serene... and words can't describe the feeling when walking into the great room each morning which also provided a perfect sound environment for playing my guitar, inspired by the mountain views from every window. I would absolutely LIVE in this house if it weren't for the 800 mile commute to work! :)

Everything is just perfect and was considerately thought out. You'll have just about everything you need already there. Our favorite highlights are the master suite (and shower!!), the deck out back (perfect for morning coffee and breakfast), and that amazing great room!!!

Thank you so much. We'll be back again in the fall!!!!

Beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay here - the new renovations on the ground floor are amazing! There's a wonderful executive suite downstairs and a neat bar, all it needs now is a small fridge :)

Our group comes here for spring cycling training. You can't ask for a better location, close to all the major climbs and some excellent forest roads out the back door. If I could request one upgrade it would be a jacuzzi off the lower level ;)

Very Nice Cabin

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to visit! We had two families (8 total people, 4 adults and 4 kids under 5) and it was the perfect place. The owners have thought of everything. We said time and time again how comfortable the cabin was, it was like your own home. The place was very clean, very well furnished, and very comfortably furnished. The ability to have fires at night was nice too. There was plenty of firewood provided. We have rented several cabins over the last five years and we will certainly be back. Great location, and a great owner. Thanks again for a wonderful weekend.
