About Valen Brost

Owners: Linda and Valen Brost. We have 6 children. Every member of our family are avid skiers and snowboarders. We have had ski passes at nearby ski resorts for over 25 years. We love the deep snow. On average the snow reaches the top of the 2nd story windows of our lodge each year. In the summer we love to swim in the nearby crystal clear water mountain lakes and take hikes to many different mountain vistas.

Perfect for our large group "snow trip" year after year!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 5th year returning to this cabin. I feel bad not writing a review about it until now, but the cabin is so perfect that I almost don't want to tell anyone else about it. But that is not fair to the owners who have been very nice, professional and completely receptive to all of our needs for 5 years. So here is my 5 Star Review for this great cabin. This cabin is everything a large group could hope for! It has a large communal space, movie theater with lazy boy chairs, huge fully stocked kitchen, huge tables where everyone can sit down and enjoy dinner together, 2 dishwashers, great washer/dryer/laundry room, a big fire place and, best of all, the best sledding is right outside, next to the house. You don't have to drive anywhere! The kids (age range of 18 months to 8 years old) who belong to the 6 families that come with us LOVE the place! It is very kid friendly with games, books and sleds at the cabin. The owners obviously take pride in their cabin and put a lot of love and energy into it. The neighborhhod is absolutely beautiful too! Everything is white with snow and there is a lake that you can walk to that actually freezes over into a Winter Wonderland. The owners have told us that it is just as beautiful in the summer but we haven't made it there at any time except February. The only thing about the cabin that might throw someone a little is that you have to keep the fire burning all night and that the downstairs rooms do get quite chilly. But as long as you know about it in advance, pack warm pajamas and sleeping bags, you'll be fine. The owners have a ton of blankets available for use as well. The place is great and the owners have been extremely attentive and prompt at answering any small needs we've had over the years.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful review. The best way to assure the ability to enjoy year after year is to book early. You have brought up a good point to talk about, i.e., the heating system. The upstairs great room wood stove is the primary heat for the lodge and we, the owners, supply plenty of firewood. An air circulation system distributes the heat from the wood stove to every room in the house. The downstairs bedrooms will stay a bit cooler than the great room. For those that like sleeping on the cooler side (60 to 65 degrees), you should find the bedrooms very comfortable and sleep well. For those that like sleeping in a warmer room, each downstairs bedroom has an electric baseboard heater that is controlled by digital thermostat, and the guest is welcome to set the thermostat to the temperature they desire. Each bedroom thermostat is located next to the mirror by the head of the bed.

Fabulous

Our "company" trip was a blast! The lodge had all of our needs covered, from wifi to sleeping to theater.... we were very comfortable and well accommodated for all of our business and pleasure needs. Kitchen was very adequate for our large group and the management was very easy to work with.... five stars all the way around!

Excellent Rental is great location for large family gatherings.

306551 is an exceptional value. It's huge and has 6 bedrooms + a library bedroom upstairs with it's own fireplace. Everyone loved the place and was comfortable. The theater was a big hit with all of us but especially the kids. It's better than it seems in the photos. We had a great time and we all want to go back!

Great house for family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time there during summer time. We was looking forward to the theater but the lamp of the projector was broken and we didn't have a chance to enjoy it. Rather than that, everything else is great. Valen is very helpful with all questions that we had. Will absolutely come back this summer and looking forward to enjoy the theater.

Great Lodge for a crowd

  • 4 of 5

We had an awesome time at the lodge. We had six families and a large amount of children. The home says it will accomodate 30..they are not kidding. The kids had a great time in the theater, we hardly saw them the entire time. The lodge was very roomy with a large kitchen stocked with plates, utensils, appliances etc. The living area was large and comfortable with four couches.(the photo's don't do it justice). If you are going with a large group just know there is only one shower. The second bathroom has a big jacuzzi type tub with a hand held shower nozzle. The owner was very nice and flexible with us regarding check in/out times. We were close to Soda Springs' Planet Kids with sleds and fun snow activites. Can't wait to return.

Great stay at the Serene Lodge

  • 5 of 5

My friends and my family stayed at the Serene Lodge . The property was really good. House configuration really was the best and it allowed us to be together upstairs and retire for the night downstairs where all bedrooms are located. Very roomy bedrooms and spacious beds. The property was clean , well maintained with all facilities. The 12 seater theater was the highlight.

The owner was quite helpful in all respects. He explained everything from the home to snow conditions, to even offering us to stay over till the snow cleared , since it snowed that day. He also helped us with the heaters and its settings.

Boreal is really close by and sledding right around the road. I would highly recommend thsi property and will surely visit it again.
