Lovely place and great host.

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Thomas for , being such a gracious host on our recent trip to Victoria. Your place was very clean and, even though small, it accommodated the 3 of us very well.

The beds were super comfortable and we had everything we needed. We especially loved the short walk to the Fishermans Wharf and looking out into your beautiful garden (wish we could see it in summer!)

Great location

  • 4 of 5

very compact, modern, well appointed. easy walk to much of Victoria. Construction in the area in March made for confusing road access at times.

Owner's Response: I totally agree with the guest that the sewage pipeline construction on Niagara street makes road navigation confusing for guests and residents as well. What the CRD is doing to us living in James Bay is totally unacceptable and inconsiderate to all of us. I am only glad I don't live on Niagara street, the residents there don't even have access to their homes and driveways. All this inexcusable fiasco was totally avoidable with much cheaper and environmentally friendly alternatives that were ignored. Hopefully James Bay will return to normal by the middle of April.

Very disappointed

  • 1 of 5

I spoke back and forth about using chemicals and unscented products and we were very disappointed and mislead. I have severe chemical allergies and explained this and how severe it was. When I asked to rewash our bedding ,right out side our door was a table full of cleaning products and same as in the laundry room. The washer and dryer highly scented. There was no live tv, we are news watchers. We like our bedroom cold ,thermostat for the unit is in the bedroom ,therefore the living space was cold. Location great. Cooking facilities cramped and awkward. The host brushed us off the first day and never saw him again. The value for dollar very questionable

Owner's Response: I am also very disappointed with this guest’s response and lies. I went out of my way washing the sheets, pillow covers and duvet cover and all towels in unscented detergent and giving it extra rinse, but nothing was good enough. I even stopped my trip and came back when the guest called saying they could smell chemicals and I offered to wash it again and I offered my washer and dryer. The suite was cleaned using baking soda and vinegar exactly what the guest wanted. Saying that they were mislead is a pure lie. We did everything they wanted but it was not good enough. The guest eventually accepted sheets that were washed few months before and did not have any scent. There were no cleaning products in the room with the washer and dryer, I removed them because of the guest and I also removed all shampoos and soap from the suite. The cleaning products all closed in their containers were on the shelf where they always sit outside of the suite. I wonder if the guest thought I would throw them out. How could a closed bottle of cleaning product be harmful? The washer and dryer were not scented, what a nonsense. Nobody scents washer and dryer. Even the detergent I used was unscented. I showed the guests twice how to use the Apple TV with many news channels. They also had user manual for Aople TV in the document I sent them. One Nest thermostat for a small suite was not enough for the guests? It did not occur to them to open the windows in the bedroom and leave the thermostat set to comfortable temperature for the living room? Or turn it up when they get up? Thermostat is for regulating temperature up and down. I have never heard such ridiculous complaints. I stopped my trip and came back to take care of the guests and their complaints and gave them access to my suite and the washer and the dryer and they call it brush off? It is totally impossible to please some guests no matter how hard one tries.

Very good location.

  • 3 of 5

I had a pleasant vacation in Victoria. For a senior citizen, some of the electronics were inconvenient, but generally the suite was pleasant, clean and warm.

Owner's Response: Not only did I provide user manual for all of the "inconvenient" electronics such as induction hot plate and Apple TV, but I also showed the guest multiple times how to use them. I wish the guest would have left the induction hot plate as clean as it was upon arrival instead of leaving it covered in grease, not even wiped off.

Great cozy place to stay with a backyard full of lush green plants and fruit bearing trees, Tom is very hospitable and approachable man. We'll be planning for our next visit to stay for a week or more👍🦀🐳🐠🛳🇨🇦

Nice and clean unit

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was clean, stocked with toiletries, kitchen had everything you would need for heating a small meal, serving it, making a hot tea and such.

Pros: heated floor in the bathroom, close to the water, the owner is a nice person with a cute and friendly dog. Parking was never a problem, we could easily find a spot along the street. We went in January and we could heat the apartment nice and toasty as we like it.

Cons: The door that separates the owner's living space from the rental unit is frosted glass so you can hear the dog sniffing at the door from time to time. Suggestion: Maybe it would have been better to have a wooden door to help with privacy. Not a huge deal for us, though.

Overall, it was a nice experience.

Owner's Response: Fleka is a lab and a trained truffle dog, so wooden door would not help her sniffing. Strange that no other guests complained about my dog sniffing at the door. Maybe the guests were cooking something delicious so she could not help herself, ha.
