This is 'Cielo Vista' our bayhouse located directly on Rollover Bay in Gilchrist, Tx. and easily reached from Houston, Galveston, or Beaumont. Crystal Beach is about 6 miles away. However you'll have uncrowded beach access to the Gulf of Mexico only 500 ft south of the property.

House features a 360 wrap-around deck so you can 'chase the shade'.

Excellent Fishing and Crabbing just out your back door from your own private lighted pier with power, water, fish cleaning need for a boat. However, if you do have a kayak/ can access many great fishing spots just minutes after pushing off from the bank.

Enjoy all the wonders of the Beach without the congestion of other more popular beaches.

Historic Galveston is an exciting ferry ride away. Visit the historic Strand, Moody Gardens, Seawall, or Schlitterbahn water park.


1. NO MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE at “ANYTIME” on the property. We have full-time neighbors and they’ll give us a call if this is violated…you’ll be asked to leave the property and forfeit your remaining rental days and deposit. Don’t be offended…this has rarely been an issue because 80% of our renters are repeats…but we’ve had a few very disappointing episodes.

2. LINENS can be found on top of the utility room counter. Additional linens can be found in plastic bins located under the bunk room beds and master bedroom bed.

3. PLEASE REMOVE SHOES before entering the house.

4. NO FIRES may be built anywhere on the property with the exception of the BBQ grill for cooking.

5. NO MOUNTING of any items onto the pilings under the house or located above where the house is located.

6. NO TRASH left in the house, on the decks, under the house, or on the Pier. It all goes in garbage bags and placed in the twin green receptacles street-side

7. NO DIRTY DISHES in the dishwasher or in the sink

8. NO CRAB TRAPS left in the water. Please remove them, along with any bait, and stack under stairs.

9. STRIP BEDDING, TOWELS, DISHTOWELS and leave on floor in utility room. You DO NOT have to wash linens (nor should you…you’re on vacation)

10. KAYAKS ARE NOT FOR GUEST USE Thanks for not disturbing them.


12. REPLACE KEYS in lockbox when you depart at the end of your stay


1. MOSQUITOS I must admit I’m amazed at some renters who have complained about Louisiana’s state bird  In the summer months more so these can be pesky. A BIG help to you will to bring down a Raid Yard Sprayer or similar product. It will attach to our hose you’ll find downstairs and by spraying the entire yard you will notice a huge improvement. There is also a hose upstairs and you can spray the deck as well…but the grass is usually your biggest culprit. You’ll also need to apply a deet-based spray to yourself as well especially in the evenings but the yard spray will be your best friend.

2. WHERE TO EAT Stingaree is great…right on the intracoastal waterway…and about 6 miles or so from the house headed West on 87 Steve’s Landing is really good and on the intracoastal waterway and in Crystal Beach Tiki Bar is also good…it’s a bit further and just past Crystal Beach road on the right Fantasea BBQ is within walking distance just before you get to Rollover Pass on the right. Excellent Burgers and other things but are usually closed in the Winter and early Spring months.

3. WHERE TO GET GROCERIES Gulf Coast Market west on 87 about 8 miles on the right…they have anything you could possibly need

4. WHERE TO GET BAIT and ICE Capt Jacks is just down the road on the right before rollover pass Ms. Nancy’s is on the left just as you cross Rollover Pass

I'm Paul Reed the owner of Cielo Vista our awesome bayside home in Gilcrist TX. We finished building our home 7 weeks before Hurricane Ike hit. We were one of the lucky ones that sustained little damage. We think this is the best home to enjoy your vacation at because you have access to Rollover Bay and private pier from your back yard and better yet Gulf of Mexico drive-on beach access just 500 ft out the front door.

Great getaway

The house has a huge island great for bringing people around during dinner. There is only one main common area, the living room/kitchen. This creates a space for people to be forced to hang out. The amenities was fabulous. The set of rules given prior to arriving at the beach house was rather unwelcoming though. Overall, great rental.

Always a great time

Paul has been and is always the most caring host. If you want to just relax, or enjoy an awesome fishing experience in your backyard, this is the perfect house for you. I've recommended this place to many people already and will continue to do so!

Perfect Location with great fishing.

We loved the Cielo Vista! Great accommodations, friendly management, property is very nice and furnished with everything you need. The property is very well maintained. There is a great private pier where you can catch all kinds of fish in the bay or take a short walk to the ocean side for surf fishing and beach combing. We can't wait to go back for another stay!

Beautiful Vacation Home

Absolutely beautiful. Watching the tugboats going by at night, the kiddos crabbing and fishing all day on the nice pier. My family and I absolutely love it! The beach is literally two minutes away!. It's nice when you don't have to worry about beach traffic but can still look at the beach from the nice deck. The little neighborhood is very quiet and the neighbors are really friendly. The house was very nicely stocked, it felt like home, and not a hotel. The one thing we didn't like was the fact we had to leave.. we will definitely be looking to stay again! Thank you!

Not good when we first walked in. There was a very bad smell.

Walked into a bad smell throughout the house. Found out later it had been fumigated for a bee hive. We got some spray and candles and pretty soon was able to get most of the smell out. House itself was ok. No wow factors inside but the wrap around deck had awesome views and the crabbing and fishing from the dock was great. If more wow factor was done to the inside and make sure everything is smelling good. I would come back to this house.
