Hi Bob , I put the house key in the mail today . We all want to thank you for renting us your beautiful house. We enjoyed the time we got to spend there , the "game room " in the garage was all the guys could ask for but all the ladies loved seating by the fireplace , watching movies and taking walks on the beach .We hope to have a chance to come back in the summer . We can only imagine how much fun it is to be there at that time of the year. We have rented so many houses in the past 7 - 8 years , but yours is the winner !
Thank you so much Bob and Have a Happy New Year !
I've been coming here for years!! Well, this was our 3rd year staying & boy was the family pumped!!! Driving up, the car stereo was playing "Holiday Rooooooooad" the whole way up as we anticipated a family fun vacation!
Big Bear Lodge......has now become an annual trip for our family for a little summer vacation! I already reviewed this lodge a few years ago, but thought it was due for a quick updated 2014 review. The lodge is very spacious and has lots of sleeping areas (please scroll thru the online photos for a better idea). Our family had 8 adults & 3 small kids.......so there was plenty of room. Heck if you want you could even crash on a couch if needed! or if the wife/girlfriend gets mad at you, you can sleep on the front porch or screen room!
The house looks the same with several couches to sit on, a flat screen tv, several chairs for the front porch, & big kitchen table for all your eating needs or even late night games of Uno!! The walk to the beach isn't that far away, but be careful when walking there as some drivers go kinda fast! The beach itself is very nice. Now please don't be fooled by the amount of rocks you may see down by the water. That my friends is because the water level in Lake Michigan is either rising or going down. It was rocky the first day we went down but then all sandy the next day! You are minutes away from several fun activities, such as going for a tasty burger, or to the grocery store, or to New Buffalo, or for ice cream and even to go golf! The Lighthouse Mall is probably the furthest we had to drive. Overall, everything is pretty close! The only negatives was the ice maker on the fridge wasn't working (luckily we bought some ice bags anyway) and the couches had a few holes in it. Couches may be in need of an upgrade, but over all everything else was great! One thing we learned, Indiana does NOT SELL ALCOHOL ON SUNDAY'S! So please plan according if you're looking to tie one on!
You can take the bikes out for a spin, or shoot some pool and the addtion of the huge beach umbrella to take to the beach was awseome! Just awesome! secret tip, the tv in the upstairs bedroom also plays PAC MAN! That came in handy after a few cold beers several nights! As always it was a good time had by all. I'd highly recommend this house to anyone who is looking to get away for a little R & R. Big Bob, we thank you again for letting us rent out the house for our 2014 Family vacation!
We stayed at Big Bear for a week over Christmas and the house really made our holiday. It is a beautiful, clean house with plenty of room for our family. The layout made it perfect for us to have our small baby in the master and allow for the younger crowd to enjoy the upstairs without having to worry about noise. They even had a Christmas tree up! We had everything we needed to relax and enjoy the holiday with the rest of our family in the area. Thanks, Big Bear. We would definitely stay again and hope to visit you in the summer one of these days!
Thanks Bob for a great weekend. My sisters and nieces and I had a wonderful time sitting in the great room and enjoying the fire. We had planned on having a back yard fire but the weather did not permit. Instead we took a quick walk down to the beach (dodging rain drops) and marveled at the beauty of Lake Michigan. You have a great property and we will be back soon.
Our 3rd stay at Big Bear and each time, we're blown away by Bob's generosity. He has bicycles, a regulation pool table, beach supplies, games galore and a GARAGE for your personal use. The kitchen/dining area is both huge and cozy at the same time. Living room so spacious you could throw a party (no worries, we didn't). Fireplace is a plus, as well as the fire pit in the back yard. And leaving the ingredients for smores was so sweet - pun intended. House was immaculate upon arrival. The beach is just a short stroll from the house; loved coming back after watching sunsets to find deer grazing on neighbor's lawns. I would recommend Big Bear to any and everyone.
Eleven of us stayed at Big Bear Lodge for our annual Girl's Weekend! Although we refer to ourselves as Girl's most of us are in our 60's! We loved the open floor plan, and spacious kitchen, the screened in porch was also nice and relaxing! Spent lots of time sitting around the dining room table playing Trivia and snacking. Took in the Light House Outlets and The Blue Chip Casino! The beach is a short walk and we encountered many friendly neighbors, a few deer and even a friendly fox! Skipped rocks at the beach and took lots of pictures. We were blessed with wonderful weather and had the best weekend! Thank you Bob for sharing your comfortable home, and we would love to come back!
My family and I have been renting in Long Beach for the past several years and we all agreed last week that the Big Bear Lodge was the best rental experience we have ever had. The home is wonderful for families to bond and have fun together. The lodge has everything you need to have a great time. The screened porch, the deck, the kitchen, the dining area, the living area and the bedrooms are just perfect for a large family vacation. Also, the garage is a wonderful large area for a game of pool or foosball...yes there is a pool table and a foosball table along side several good bikes you can use for a bike ride. Stop 31 is one of the best beaches....it only had 5 steps down to the sand. I highly recommend the Big Bear Lodge for a wonderful family vacation! We hope to book again next year!!!!!
