The Ashcraft family ( Father and three sons)purchased the property in 1995 and built the house and cottage in 1999. Since then we have enjoyed Conch'd Out with family and friends and rent the property to allow others to appreciate the beauty of the location and enjoy the island of Eleuthera.
Gary Ashcraft purchased this house in 1995
The Ashcraft family spent many years cruising the Bahamas , fell in love with Eleuthera, and decided to jointly buy and build a home.
Conch'd Out is uniquely located an a small coral point and slightly elevated. There is access to beaches on each side of the point. A Palapa is located on the tip of the point-allowing spectacular 270 + degree views up and down the coastline.
Carla and I couldn't have been happier with the entire trip. It truly was a dream come true. I had been wanting to visit Conch'd Out for over 2 years, since the first time I found It online. It was everything I had hoped for and more. Rita and Drew were incredibly welcoming, sweet and helpful. They took a personal interest in making sure Carla and I were having the time of our lives.
The home was beautiful and couldn't have had a more breath taking view. It was well supplied with everything you would want to live there as if it were your own home.
A special thanks to Craig for squeezing us in on such short notice. You allowed Carla and I the opportunity to create some incredible memories we will not soon forget. We plan on coming back soon to create even more...

We absolutely loved both Eleuthera and Conch'd Out. You have a gem, as you know. The beaches are beyond compare and the lack of density of people makes you feel like you almost have the whole island to yourself. Wonderful! We believe the combination of view, pounding waves to lull you to sleep, access and privacy of the beach, screened in living area and kitchen that lives like a lanai, etc. made for the best combination of benefits we've experienced, and we've been fortunate to travel quite a bit including to Hawaii, Costa Rica, the Keys, etc. One in our group in his early 70's commented the trip was 'First page of the memory book. First page!'. Thanks again for an absolutely wonderful property, the pre-trip planning information, and dining advice. All spot-on.
First of all we would like to thank Andrew for his warm welcome. We really enjoyed our stay in Conch`d Out. The property is located on a small peninsula with 2 beaches (morning sun and evening sun). The house is well equipped with everything you need for a nice time. we stayed there with our family, and even our son (7 months) enjoyed the stay. An important advise would be to bring insect repellant, as the no see ums can be really annoying. Greetings from Switzerland, Michael
We loved our stay at Conch'd Out! The house is clean, comfortable and well appointed. There are fantastic views from inside the comfort of the house as well as the breezy palapa nestled among the palm trees on the point. We stayed in the main house with 4 adults and 4 children (ages 6 – 9) and there was plenty of room and lots to do. The caretakers, Andrew and Reta, were always available and helpful with booking fishing trips, finding restaurants (gotta have the cracked conch!), and finding basically anything we needed.
During our stay we visited many beaches on both the Carribbean and Atlantic sides of the island (Papaw, Cocodimama, Club Med, Whiteland, Lighthouse). All were beautiful, but my favorite beach was the one right outside of our house! The beach was smooth pink sand, perfect for building sandcastles, lounging and swimming. The water was clear and calm. We were even visited one afternoon by two dolphins that swam around our children playing in the water! Snorkeling on the reef at the house was spectacular - the colorful coral was interesting in shape and there was a huge variety of beautiful reef fish. We also saw conch, lobster, sea urchins, sea anenomes, crabs, sea slugs and other interesting sea life all within swimming distance from the house. We appreciated the kayaks and beach chairs that were available for our use.
Fresh fish is available at the dock in Governor’s Harbour near Norma’s Gift Shop mid-day most days. We cooked most of our meals during our stay (the kitchen had everything we needed). We stopped by the Bluffs Grocery Store near the North Eleuthera Airport on our way in to load up on food (there is more variety and better prices here than at the local stores in Governour’s Harbour and Palmetto Point… there is also a larger store in Rock Sound, but it was closed when we drove by). There were plenty of great restaurants nearby if you are not into cooking. We recommend the poolside bar/restaurant at Sky Beach on Fridays – say hello to Sammy if you go! He is full of great stories.
I would absolutely recommend Conch’d Out! My daughter cried when we left she was so sad to leave. We are already planning our next visit!
We have stayed here several times and I have to say, this place never lets us down! The water is so crystal clear, the beaches are beautiful and it is such an amazing place to create memories! Whether you go for a walk on the beach, a snorkel or have a drink under the palapa, this place is heaven!
The house is well maintained and stocked with everything you need to make this your home away from home. The views are awesome from every room in the house, both with fantastic views of the ocean and beautiful landscaping.
Andrew and Rita were great, as we have come to expect from our stays there! They are such wonderful people and are so welcoming, helpful and a joy to be around.
We rented paddleboards (we found a place at the buccaneer in Governors Harbor who delivered and picked it up!) and had a great time. The kayaks were awesome, too!
As always, we enjoy eating at Tippy's for great music and an island feel and have recently discovered 1648, a great place to eat, awesome service with more of a resort feel.
We would definitely recommend Conch'd Out to anyone who is looking for a quiet, serene place to unwind with family and friends!
This place was perfect for us. We've stayed at several properties in Palmetto point and double bay over the past 8 years and this is our favorite spot. The things we love about it:
- Frontage on 2 different & perfect beaches
- Since it is on a point, is a bit elevated, and has a fairly open yard, you almost always have a strong breeze which feels great and reduces any bugs.
- very nicely maintained interior and incredible grounds.
- good fishing and snorkeling right out front
- Your caretaker Andrew is super helpful and an incredible guy.
