About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Our house is a traditional Icelandic cottage and is situated in the charming historic center of Reykjavik.

The apartment has two floors. Upstairs there is a spacious master bedroom with a queen-size bed and a large closet. The bedroom has a south facing balcony. The bathroom is upstairs and has a shower and a jacuzzi-style bathtub.

The downstairs has a bright living area with a convertible sofa, dining table, and a full open kitchen. The living area opens out to a south facing balcony as well.

The apartment sleeps 2-4 people comfortably. Towels and linen are provided. The stairs up to the bedroom and bath are quite steep so the place is not suitable for small children.

Enjoy staying in a typical Icelandic cottage, steps away from great restaurants, museums, shopping, and the harbor area with its Puffin express and whale watching tours.

We have rented all over the world but I am always a bit nervous before arriving. No need to worry. It's exactly as described, immaculate warm and clean clean clean. Great location; in the heart of the tourist area-great restaurants and shopping nearby. Picture perfect and made our stay even more enjoyable

A true gem!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the cottage for a few nights back in July and everything was as promised, and better! Location is perfect, the place immaculate and well appointed. Great shower, lots of light, decent shades in the bedroom (they may not black out the light, but definitely no complaint there), hair drier, heat in case of chilly days (not necessary in July, but good to know for winter stays), good wi-fi, and a very responsive owner. There is a grocery store not even 5 min away, and Center Hotel just around the corner is a great meeting point for any organized tour and the airport shuttle. Plus, did I mention all the great restaurants within walking distance? Thank you, and we will be back someday!

The perfect accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this "Gem" for one week - and we could have happily stayed much, much longer! The space is bright, clean, very comfortably furnished and the central location cannot be beat. The owner was very responsive to our emails and quite professional. The entire rental process went very smoothly. We can't wait to return!

Truth in Advertising,A Gem for sure!

  • 5 of 5

Promised at lot and still over-performed! Open , clean wonderful little house in RockCity, the oldest part of Reykjavik. All of downtown is within walking distance, with a parking spot right in front of the red door( for small and mid cars)There must be 30 restaurants within walking distance. Our favorite was Kopar,at the Harbor. Nespresso maker is nice, and after Gooling French Press instructions, gave us a different coffee style. We walked to a concert at Harpa, had an ice cream a day at Valdis and the Citywalk tour went right down our street. There is now a clothes washer(no dryer)which is handy, but we didn't know and went to Laundromat Cafe , which is great. The bands at bar around the corner can get a bit loud late Saturday night, but are fine the other nights. Don't hesitate to book this gem!

Excellent home in an excellent location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this home for 1 week of our 2 week adventure in Iceland. The home is centrally located in Reykjavik. When I say centrally located, I mean VERY centrally located. It's right downtown, literally 2 blocks away from Parliament, or half a block away from the Tourist Information. There is a coffee shop / pub literally next door, and about a dozen restaurants within 2 North American city blocks. Right across the street is also a micro brewery / bar, which was fun to go to.

As for the home itself, it was clean, well furnished and easy to "move into". Very recently there was a washing machine installed in the bathroom, which is GREAT because public laundromats are hard to come by (there is one that I know of called the Laundromat Cafe, about 2 blocks by foot). One of the best features is also a parking spot out front. This was supremely important for us as we had a rental car and trying to park elsewhere would have either cost a lot money or been quite the walk. Keep in mind - the parking spot is very small, so larger SUVs will not fit. We had a Peugeot 108 four door and it was a very tight fit with maybe 1 or 2 feet to spare to the road. The bed was very comfortable, there were lots of towels available, and everything was stocked nicely.

Internet was stable, reliable and fast. No issues at all connecting to anything back home to my office, or using any social media sites.

The only issue we experienced was with the jetted bathtub. The tub was perfectly fine, but the jets did not work. We don't fault the owner of the home for this at all, as this has happened in nearly every VRBO that we've stayed in that had a jetted tub. I think it comes down to guests not knowing how to use the tub and ignoring the one and only rule when it comes to jetted tubs - don't turn the jets on before they are submerged underwater, as this burns out the electric motor. In any case, it didn't affect our ability to "use" the bathtub, so it was a very minor detail and has no impact on the 5 star rating.

For anyone wanting an easy to "live in" home right in the middle of downtown Reykjavik, with an included small parking spot, don't look any further. I would highly recommend this property and would absolutely stay here again.

Great House in a Great Location!!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here in early April with my wife and 2 children (9 and 10). First, it is in an awesome location right at the square in the downtown area. This place was very comfortable for a family of 4. It was very clean, had one of the few king sized beds in all of Iceland that I could find and all the amenities one would expect. The check in process was a breeze even at 7 am. Off street parking made the rental car a no brainer for getting around.

We are going to be back in Iceland in 2017 and I would love to stay here again.
