About Dian Weeks

For many years I have worked as an artist/sculptor...designing elements for the home. And I have managed property rentals for over 25 years. We spend a few weeks each year enjoying our island retreat and getting recharged.

Dian Weeks purchased this cottage in 1987

Why Dian Weeks chose Waikane

We looked for a special location for over 4 years until 1987... when we finally found our perfect island retreat. We built a custom pole house(s) and appointed it with Indonesian/Asian furnishings from our travels and extensive tropical landscaping from local farmers. For years we have shared the guest house with travellers from all over the world...with many rave reviews.

What makes this cottage unique

This is a very unique, exclusive area...located about 10 minutes north of Kaneohe, in an area called Waikane which means 'Water of the Gods'. It's private; has a serene country feel embellished with gorgeous tropical vegetation & fruit trees. Being embraced by the Koolau Mountains and enchanting views of Kaneohe Bay...this property is like no other. Great location...10 minutes to Kaneohe town; 20 minutes to Honolulu & Kailua; 40 minutes to the NorthShore. And close to beautiful beaches all along the coast.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Welcome!! Hope you have a fabulous stay at our beautiful island home! Please leave us a comment about your experience here in Kaneohe...we appreciate your thoughts and kind consideration of our bayside retreat.

Aloha & mahalo!

:) Dian

Very relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent 5 days here, our first time to Hawaii. The cottage had everything we needed in the kitchen. We loved the open concept between the kitchen, dining and living room. Sitting out on the deck with a glass of wine in the evenings was spectacular. I was glad I read other people's reviews before booking so I knew what to expect before our arrival ie., wild roosters, beach trash, wild lizards (cute little guys). We have traveled around the world in many other countries so none of this bothers us. It actually gave a sense of the local flavor of life in Hawaii! MUCH better than a sterile hotel room. I highly recommend.

We loved it. Perfect spot for getting around the Island

  • 5 of 5

This home was clean, lovely. We enjoyed having coffee in the morning on the Lanai. Very accessible to beaches and sites. The property is well maintained. The roosters do not bother anyone except when they start crowing early morning but after the first day we were able to sleep through their wake up calls. This is a very nice part of Oahu, laid back and quite. We enjoyed the time here. Thank you Marie and Jim Hellertown, PA. 2/13/18-2/20/18

I Loved this place. Clean and comfortable. It was great to be in the country.

It was so relaxing. The views were incredible. We got up every morning at 7:11 we’re at the beach to watch the sun rise. Unfortunately we were there for the bomb scare. Thank goodness we had such a great place to calm down at and we not part of the city scare. Will be back for sure.

Amazing !!!

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with this cottage, as did all of our guests during our month long stay. The view and the grounds are even more beautiful than photos can show. My favorite spot was the comfortable deck furniture on the huge deck looking out at the bay. Everything we needed was provided! We cooked a lot of meals and were amazed at how well stocked the kitchen was-cookware, utensils and dishes. No dishwasher, but that wasn't a problem for us. Loved having the washer/dryer as we had different guests during the month and were able to wash sheets and towels. The location is the perfect split between Honolulu and the North Shore. We especially loved being on the bay and in the country. We even figured out how to get the roosters out of the nearby trees before they settled in for the night. We still heard them in the morning, but not right outside the bedroom windows! We will remember this vacation forever!!!

Owner's Response: Sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the beds. I'm surprised since they are newer-from May 2015. They are medium firmness, so maybe you prefer softer beds. And, we mention in the description that the shoreline is not good for swimming-shallow & silty. And, that there's a nice beach 3 miles north at the Kualoa Beach Park. Also, the high tides/storms bring in debris, which we clean up periodically-but have no control over. May we kindly suggest you stay in a hotel next time.

Loved how homey it feels. It's close to all the beaches. And, waking up every morning to China man's hat was very special.
