Lodge, 5 Bedrooms, 5 Baths, (Sleeps 16-20)
Hi. My name is Lance Cooper and I am the President of SalesManage Solutions, a sales consulting company based out of Knoxville, Tennessee. I was born here and have lived here virtually all of my life. I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee and a VOL fan forever. :) I love trout fishing especially in Tennessee. The Clinch River Lodge is a dream come true for my entire family. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. "The River Runs Through It."
Owner purchased this Cabin in 2008
Why Owner chose Rocky Top
When I was growing up, I enjoyed outings with a grandfather and father who loved fishing. We especially loved to go trout fishing in various East Tennessee locations. One of those places, The Clinch River, flows below Norris Dam. When we were young we saw the early morning fog on the river, the tell-tale dimples on the water, and got to feel the trout it help fighting on the end of our lines As I grew older, I returned to look for property along this beautiful tail-water. And, on my first revisit I found the land that The Clinch River Lodge now resides on. It was just 100 yards from the special pool of water that my brothers and I remember from days gone by - out in an early morning mist with our Father. We built our 5 bedroom - 5 bath log lodge out of Southern Pine with a wrap-a-round porch and view of the setting sun sending its colors up the river. The river truly "runs through it." And, we invite you to enjoy it as well.

We had a great time in a beautiful place
The property was well suited for are multi family group. The river was a sight to behold.
A Beautiful and very spacious property
Great cabin! We are a very large family and we fit perfectly. The place was beautiful, very close to the Norris Dam State Park which is spectacular, have your Camara out. Not too bad of a drive to get to Gatlinburg Smokey Mountain state park. We spend a wonderful vacation there. We really enjoyed it!!!
Clinch River Family Time
Our vacations are usually in Northern Minnesota, but to make it more convenient for all of us, we decided to take our vacation at a half-way point for our family. Clinch River was a truly delightful time for all of us, in a wonderful log home, with a very thoughtful host. The river did not disappoint us in any way and we became river "aficionados" of it's rising and falling. We were able to fish and enjoyed watching those who "knew" the river and what it had to offer. We were blessed to see River Otters right off the deck and we were able to use the deck as our walking platform. It was also nice to be able to sit on the deck and watch the rain/storms move through without getting wet! We all enjoyed doing what we wanted to do which was our main purpose. The Appalachian Village was very interesting and the restaurant served excellent homemade food. Having said all this, would we do it again? As they say in Northern Minnesota, "You Betcha!" Thank you Lance for sharing your home with us. Linda W.
We had a great time!
We had a very enjoyable long weekend with our extended family. We had 19 people (adults and children) staying in the cabin and we were all very comfortable there. We enjoyed watching the fog roll on the river, the yard around the cabin was great, and we were able to get some fishing in.
We were very surprised at the lack of internet on the property and that Wi-Fi was being provided by a Mi-Fi device. It is very difficult to get multiple devices connected using a Mi-Fi and several of my family members have AT&T which had very limited signal where we were. Also, none of the beds were made when we arrived, which was also a surprise. We were able to make all of the beds prior to the rest of the family arriving, but was very unlike all of our previous experiences.
The canoe being gone was also a bit of a sore spot, but completely beyond your control so I understand that. It would be good to remove it from a list of what is included though.
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your cabin, it was easily one of our favorite places. We will definitely be back!
“SPIDERS AND WEEDS”. The new name for this listing. Should be removed from VRBO
Your welcomed to this property by overgrown bushes through the front gate that scratch against your car. (Maybe a hedge trimmer would come in handy). You pull up to the cabin and it has a nice view of the clinch river. That’s where it stops. The landscaping is so overgrown with weeds some were 4-5 feet tall. The owner even had poison ivy growing in the landscaping. Strange choice for ornamental plants in the landscaping. Then we walked in the front door and DEJA VU! We stayed here last year because the house was big enough for my families to meet halfway between Atlanta and Cincinnati. However the place was a mess and not clean and had a lot of spiders. Live spiders. We decided to try it again because we thought there was no chance it could be like that again. I even emailed the owner and brought this to his attention so he could look into it. Well he did not. He said he was sending a cleaning crew in but this was not true. I walked through the front door into cob webs in my face. Cob webs everywhere. In every corner on all the pots and pans etc. We were stuck here so we did our best. That night my niece had to kill 2 spiders in her bed. That made that bed out of commission. The next morning 2 people had spider bites from the night. I had to go to Wal Mart to buy insect foggers, ant killer (yes 2 large ant nests outside) and hornet spray for all the wasps. It was simply an infested house that was not cleaned in weeks.
Case in point. My wife found long black hairs all over the middle bathroom along with dried urine on the toilet and the floor. We took pictures of this but not sure if I can post them. The toilet seat and the shower knob was also broke in this bathroom.
The remote for the tv was missing. There is no canoe by the way.
I have stayed at VRBOs across the country. This is the worst property I have ever been in. The owner simply wants his money and doesn’t care about the well being of his paying guest. He does the least amount of work necessary and keeps collecting that money. Should be removed from VRBO until the place is taken care of.
This gentleman sent a request in advance that our place should be cleaned for "spiders" before his arrival. We paid for a cleaning crew to clean the property a second time, which they did. We trust the crew. The guests, while they were there, drove off the driveway crushing and damaging its edge probably with a truck and drove across the edge of the landscaping and left a furrow in it as well. They did not mention this to us when they left but we found it afterwards. We sent them pictures. It's true that no one was able to cut the grass or handle the weeds in the landscaping prior to his arrival as we had had torrential rains for a week and a half. We have now paid more that a thousand dollars to weed the landscaping and the lawn is mowed. I called him while he was at the Lodge. No reply. I also asked what we could do to satisfy them. No reply. And, my family and friends love to stay here. Please consider the rest of our reviews. Thank you.
Fantastic vacation home
My family and I spent a very refreshing 4 nights in this home. I was worried it might be too hot to spend any time outside while we were visiting, but the cool fog off the river made our stay exceptional pleasent. We were able to spent countless hours outside on the wrap around porch and on the lower patio area having cookouts. Thank you for allowing us to have our family vacation at your beautiful home.
Bring your waders and when the water is at "0" generators below the dam, wade in right below the old Massengale Bridge at our property and fish in the very same pool as did I, my grandfather, father, brothers, and sons.
