There is no better place to count your blessings. Lay in the hammock or swing on the porch while you experience this magnificent mountain view. Play in the waterfall or hike down to the waterfalls! The many trails on the property are accessible from your private covered porch. Enjoy moonrise from the hot tub after spending your day shopping in Hendersonville, horsing around at FENCE, or visiting the Biltmore House in Asheville.
We are nestled into 70 acres of mixed hardwood forest amid creeks, waterfalls and trails. Easily accessed from North Carolina's I-26 or from historic US 176, this cabin by Cottages of Dark Corner is minutes from excellent biking, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, scenic drives, kayaking, live entertainment, and fine dining. The Pout House is stocked with basic household supplies for your comfort and convenience.
The place is ok, nothing spectacular. We would have been happy with our stay if we weren't charged unexpected fees that we greatly disagree with. The owners were barely in touch with us. They charged us a pet fee but then charged us for fur and scratches that were NOT from us. We were barely there and our dogs were never inside except to sleep. Be careful of extra fees and lack of communication. The place is decent but it's on a small piece of property with many steep cliffs surrounding it. There is also a poor dog with an injured leg that roams the area. It's very sad to see.
This rental had all the amenities you could ask for. It was small, but included all the necessities for a comfortable stay. The hot tub on the front porch is a great perk, especially after spending the day hiking in the mountains. If you're looking for a quiet place off the beaten path, yet with easy access to Asheville, Hendersonville, Chimney Rock, etc., this is a great spot. The downtown of Saluda is also adorable and a quaint spot to explore!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Pout House! So much so we plan to rebook when it comes time to take the kids for a mountain vaction. The owners have went above and beyond stocking this cabin with little things that make it feel like home away from home. Right down from filters and sugar for you coffee to extra towels for your wet shoes or dog. Peaceful and relaxing is the only way I can describe it. My husband kept asking me if I wanted to go out sat night after our Biltmore tour but I just wanted to hang out at the cabin! Hopefully next time I can find the waterfalls lol
No complaints, everything was there for our small family( 2 adults, 2 young children ). The kids considered the bed setup in the 2nd bedroom as a "bunk bed" so they really liked that. The kids also liked the small hot tub, they thought it was a pool, it was big enough to have the whole family in it at the same time. The views of the mountains are nice, it's really neat to watch storms come in over the mountains. No mosquitoes at this elevation while we were there. We also enjoyed the grill and very large porch. There is a short walk to a small waterfall and creek. The internet is real cable internet not satellite internet, it's fast when it was working( we could stream video on 2 devices at once ) which was most of our stay. The internet did go out from time to time, probably because it was raining a lot while we were there. Satellite TV works great and has enough channels. We thought it was a great value, I think it would be hard to find a hotel with a 2 bedroom setup and kitchen near this price, not to mention the nice view, grill, privacy, large porch with a porch swing and hot tub. There is a Dollar General very nearby, convenient for quick purchases. Saluda is a great little town, don't miss visiting Pearson Falls which is a short drive and reasonably priced.
The Pout House is a nice clean place to get away from it all. It was very private and the porch offered great views of the nearby mountains and valleys. The hot tub was ready to go when we got there and we were able to enjoy it after a long drive. We noted a few upgrades to the property that are not reflected in the on-line photos. There’s now an automatic dishwasher installed and a wrought iron table with chairs have been added to the porch. The outside table enhanced our visit considerably. It was a nice treat to enjoy the mountain views as we ate our meals together. We ate all of our meals outside for that reason. A second LP tank was readily available in case the gas grill happened to run out of fuel, which I thought was a nice touch. I would describe the setting as "rustic" and the amenities as “acceptable”. Our bed was clean and comfortable and all the appliances we used performed well. The location was convenient to many local attractions and the property functions well as a home base so you can explore the area. All in all, we were very pleased with our selection - we felt like we got our money’s worth and we had a great time relaxing there during our stay. We would definitely recommend this property to a couple or a small family.
Such a cute cottage with a wonderful view. Plenty of linens and the essential kitchen needs, as an added bonus the beds were super comfy. Great communication with the owners. There were lots of great outdoor activities just minutes away to keep our family busy. The nearby downtown area of Saluda had some great restaurants and cute shops. We hope to return soon!
