We're a family of 3 who love the open spaces and waterways of the Eastern Shore. Native Marylanders, we have been here for over 30 years.
Leslie Passano purchased this farmhouse in 1982
This unique farm is central to 3 towns, yet you quickly relax when you enter our world. The feeling is so tranquille that you hope you don't have to leave!
The quiet, screened-in porches for dining or reading your favorite book, allows Guests to totally relax. When outside adventure calls, the Pool is most popular. With a canoe, kayak and rowboat at the dock, Guests enjoy our private creek for fishing, crabbing or birdwatching. But the most amazing part is the wide open space with stunning views across the fields and water. Come see why people fall in love with this area.
"We wanted you to know we enjoyed so much your Fox Trappe farm house. The uniqueness and peaceful setting on the creek was delightful for us. We got to Cambridge to the sailing museum and lunch at Suicide Bridge which we enjoyed . Thanks so much."
If you really want to get away from traffic, noise and neighbors….if you have ever dreamed of living in a restored historic house on the water surrounded by acres of land……this is it! You don’t visit Fox Trappe Farmhouse….you experience it! The house itself is furnished in antiques, original artwork and heirlooms belonging to the owners…Leslie, Thom and Molly.
There are many sitting areas inside…kitchen, dining/living room, family room and library….plus 2 screened porches and two outdoor seating areas…all with water views. Everyone can find a place to chill and read or just watch the water and wildlife.
The quiet at Fox Trappe Farm was a much appreciated shock to our suburban senses.
The pool is huge. We estimated a minimum 40x20 feet. It is crystal clear without the chemical smell as it is a meticulously maintained salt water pool. There is furniture, 2 umbrellas, lots of pool toys and a great outdoor shower. Bikes were very fun. Beautiful hydrangeas and other flowers abound.
The charcoal grill looks brand new, but we brought a small gas grill and used it as hubby prefers gas. The fire pit was great.
The house is on a creek leading to the Choptank River….the creek is very wide, and the river is close. We enjoyed visits from a large heron, an eagle and a raccoon hunting in the river….and the rabbits that were out every morning in the yard.
Take time to read the books about the history of Trappe that are on end tables around the house. You will see some of the landmarks mentioned if you drive through town…drive slow... and always wave to folks when going down Main Street. They wave back! Visit the Unicorn Book Store and meet the owner!
Phone, TV and Internet service are great. The owners are very responsive during the reservation process and are readily accessible if you need assistance during your stay.
Leslie recommended fresh caught local fish at Kool Ice in Cambridge and Highland Creamery in Oxford for our daughter’s birthday. Both were awesome!
We visited Assateague Island which is an easy drive….left the house at 7:30 and no traffic problems. Since two family members had never seen Ocean City we drove through………NO WAY is that a vacation…….but you could do a day trip if you want to…..but why would you want to?
We were so glad to return to Fox Trappe Farmhouse.
Thank you to Leslie, Thom and Molly for sharing your lifestyle with us. We hope to return.
What a fantastic vacation spot. We loved this house. It was very spacious and as described in the pictures and listing, even better. There were so many different spaces to sit and read, play games, or watch the outdoors. There are great water views from many different rooms of the house. The house is fully equipped with everything we could need.
We really enjoyed the salt water pool and spent alot of time swimming. We did enjoy the canoe as well.
The home is dog friendly. We brought 2 four-legged friends who also enjoyed the farm.
We enjoyed short trips to the towns of Oxford, Cambridge, Easton, and St Michaels. We chose to take the ferry from Oxford with the car to Bellevue and then drove to St Michaels for a fun experience. There is alot of brochure type information provided in the binder at the house. This was very helpful in making plans. Leslie was also very kind and helpful with suggestions for places to go.
We highly recommend this serene idyllic vacation spot that was difficult to leave.
We really enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. The house itself is very nicely equipped with everything you'll need for a hassle free stay and the location and grounds are great for canoeing, bird watching, biking or just spending a day relaxing by the great pool. Day trips to nearby Oxford, St. Michaels and Easton were fun and we can also recommend the Scottish Highland Creamy in Oxford for great ice cream right on the harbor and the BBQ Joint in Easton has some of the best barbecue around. Our daughter and her friend loved helping out with the horses on the property and Leslie hooked us up with a great local riding instructor for a few lessons for the girls. Communication with the owner was prompt, courteous and detailed and they couldn't have been more welcoming. A great place to recharge the batteries.
The Fox Trappe Farm was the perfect setting for us to spend some quality time with our son, daughter-in-law and 18 month old granddaughter. It allowed us to get away from it all in a warm, “homey” environment with all the conveniences we needed. We loved taking little daytrips to the surrounding communities of Easton, St. Michaels, Oxford and Cambridge. We enjoyed sunset cruises, a local farmer’s market, shopping, restaurants (Schooner’s in Oxford was our favorite, along with Scottish Highland Creamery ice cream) and eating lots of fresh corn on the cob and crab!!! The side trips were great but we did not want to stay away too long from our “home away from home” because the peaceful beauty of this property is spectacular. We enjoyed the swimming pool, canoeing, kayaking, barbecuing, lawn games, walks, bike rides & little red wagon rides with our family on the trails, reading on the delightful screened porches and just sitting in absolute peace and solitude. We looked forward to watching the daily flights over the water of three bald eagles. The owners were welcoming and most helpful when we asked them for their recommendations and local knowledge. In the fields nearby, our granddaughter was captivated by the owners beautiful horses, Star & Gracie, as well as Daisy, the dog and Cindy Lou, the friendliest cat ever! Our time at Trappe Farm was not long enough but filled with great memories. We sincerely thank you Leslie, Thom and Molly for sharing your beautiful home and hospitality with us. We highly recommend and can’t wait to return to The Fox Trappe Farm.
What an absolute treasure!. It is as if Leslie and her family had tiptoed out, and we moved into the farmhouse. Everything for a fun holiday is there ... spices for cooking tasty dinners; bikes for taking long rides; canoes for paddling up the river; a swimming pool for hot summer days. One of the best holidays that we have ever had. Go and enjoy! .
Leslie, Thom & Molly,
Thank you all so much for making your house available for rental. It is one of the most pleasant, comfortable homes that we’ve been in. The grounds, with the brick paths, the boxwood and hydrangea bushes, the pool and the yard sloping down to the dock & cove, are perfection in usability and privacy.
The salt-water pool was wonderful and got a lot of use. We both made use of the canoe and rowboat, rowing out to & around the island in Dickinson Bay, capturing photos of the 50-60 turtles there. Back at the dock, there was always the resident Great Blue Heron and a Great Egret. We biked 30 miles roundtrip to Royal Oak via back roads and the Oxford ferry. Joanne enjoyed walking your bridle trails, and also walked into Trappe and back. My 92-year-old Aunt Lois and my friend Alicia who visited mid-week loved the farmhouse/cove/pool and the chance to talk with all of you about early days in the Trappe area.
We really enjoyed seafood from Kool Ice in Cambridge….. steamed crabs for lunch and delicious rock fish cooked on the grill. Hidden Gems was great for waffle breakfast and both of the Route 50 weekend chicken grills were quite good. Of course, Mitchum’s is the Shore’s best in fine dining.
I was particularly interested in visiting the replica Choptank River Lighthouse in Cambridge. But mostly, we just enjoyed kicking back, lolling in the tranquility of Fox Trappe Farm. Thank you for the experience.
