Paul & Angie. We love the sun, water, and snow of Kalkaska and Log Lake.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2004
We chose to buy this cottage in Kalkaska for our family weekend vacations Up North. We love to snowmobile and ski in the Winter. We love to kayak and swim in the lake in the Summer. It is the perfect location for us because we like the proximity to Traverse City for shopping and Downtown events like the Cherry Festival, but we also like the secluded small lake environment to relax. No jet skis or water skiers to worry about when the kids are out in the lake swimming. We love the area and hope to retire here in the future.
My family recently stayed here for a week in July, 2015 and had a wonderful time. The house was so cute, very clean, very well stocked with anything you would need in the kitchen, tons of blankets, lots of sleeping options. We spent many hours in the lake. My daughters (ages 3 and 4) had such a ball in the lake. Since they don't have much experience swimming it was nice that it's so shallow near the shore and they felt very comfortable in it. It's a very quiet lake with just a little noise coming from the campground but nothing at all bothersome. We took day trips to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Petoskey. They were all very easy drives, about 45 min to an hr away. We also checked out the Butterfly House and Bug Zoo just down M-72 in Williamsbug. Very cool place! We really enjoyed our stay in Kalaska. We typically vacation on the east side of the state so this being our first time to the west side, their were no disappointments! What a gorgeous area. We would definitely visit again.
The house was great for our family vacation, the lake was clean and beautiful, and it was nice to have the sandy beach for the kids. We were able to have a great variety of staying around the house and venturing out to Traverse City, and there were many modern conveniences nearby in town. Only downside was not having on site laundry, however the laundromat was right down the road and had everything we needed.
home was as described. very clean, plenty of kitchen items and bedding. outside was great with the decks and gazebo! kids had fun using the kayaks and row boat. fishing right off the dock was great with plenty of fish!! weather could have been warmer but it was pleasant enough to enjoy the whole place.
My family stayed here for a long weekend in mid october to check out the fall leaves. The house was easy to find and located just outside of town. It is near a campground which was closed at the time but i imagine could get noisy in the summer months? The house is definitely set up to host large gatherings...lots of beds, blankets, seating areas both inside and out, dishware, and the like. However, i felt that storage for our own things, luggage and foodstuffs, was very limited. The downstairs bath is a bit small but the half bath upstairs was more spacious. The staircase to the upstairs is a wrought iron spiral staircase and gave this mom of a 3 year old and an 18 month old a bit of anxiety as the master bedroom was downstairs and and the twin beds were all upstairs. Everything worked out fine however. The deck and yard were lovely, lots of flat grassy areas for the kids to run around. We enjoyed the firepit, fishing in the lake, and digging in the sand. Overall a great cottage for the price!
Very nice place to stay in Kalkaska. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you
The cabin was very nice and well taken care of but the outside grills were so dirty we could not use them. We were looking to do some outside grilling . The fireworks for the 4th were some of the best I have ever seen. The lake is very nice and clean and people around the lake are very nice. Thanks again
