We loved the antiquity of the cabin, its eclectic, modern interior redo and the location!!! We had no idea that Cambria is an artist colony, and as a newly retired art teacher I was in heaven! Just wished a shower could be outfitted with tub. Husband didn't enjoy the bath only option. Discovered backporch had screens on windows, so we locked porch door, opened windows with screens, opened kitchen door for ventilation, and were very content.
Resonable price, but flawed...
This is a very cute cabin a short drive from Moonstone beach in Cambria. Lack of shower was annoying; my husband commented he was glad we were only staying 2 nights. But the thing that bothered us the most was a strong chemical smell when we entered the cabin. It seemed to emanate from the fridge - smelled like it had just been cleaned with bleach, but didn't dissipate over time. Based on the fact that the fridge was very noisy and ran almost constantly, I'm wondering if it was a Freon leak.
Can't beat location and price, but definitely has drawbacks.
The cabin is much as described, and was clean and tidy. When we first saw the cabin on VRBO, it appeared to us that it was more remote and not in a residential neighborhood. A question we should have asked about. We would agree with others who mentioned the shower. It seems that a shower curtain and a holder for the shower nozzle would have made it a lot easier to bathe. The most difficulty we had however was that there are no screens on the windows. Afternoons and evenings were quite warm during our stay, and we needed the ventilation. We got some bugs and mosquitoes if we turned the lights on while the windows were open. We really did enjoy our stay, just a couple of small changes would have made it better for us.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was our 20th anniversary and was a perfect getaway. Serenely quiet and such a throwback to a simpler time. Carol was easy to contact and a great host. We hope to come back soon.
Easy to find, great location and very comfortable.
Lovely old cottage
This is a great old house, beautifully kept, and very professionally managed. It's in the pleasant town of Cambria on a hilltop, just a bit too far from the beach or town to walk back and forth, but very manageable in a car. The images but not the description of the cabin reveal that it's a bath (with hose), not a shower; I'm not sure it's clear that the windows don't open; the remote controls could be explained more readily. Still, it's an especially pretty cabin, extremely clean, aesthetic and beautifully quiet, amongst the trees, and we would recommend it highly.
Cambria is a small village bordering the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by beautiful Monterey Pines. We have a wonderful mild year round climate and great natural beauty. Perfect for exploring the tide pools, beaches and marine life, hiking the forests, kayaking the cove, wine tasting, savoring the local restaurants. Only a 25 minute drive to the south coast of Big Sur.
