Edgewater is an upside down house on a lane with only two houses. Enjoy famous Madaket sunsets from the two decks that face west. The decks overlook conservation land with distant views of the ocean and islands. The house is .5 miles from Madaket Beach and Starbuck Beach. Millie's Restaurant and small convenience grocery store is en route to the beach.
First floor: master bedroom with a king bed and access through sliding glass doors to a large deck; a bedroom with twin beds; a den with TV; and full bathroom.
Second floor: bedroom with queen bed; full bath; kitchen open to great room with TV and stereo; access through sliding glass doors to large deck.
A car is not needed. Transportation into town (about 5 miles), and throughout the island, can be easily accessed by public transportation. There is a bus stop and the scenic Madaket Bike Path less than 100 yards from the house. Upon returning from the beach, there is an outside hot and cold water shower to refresh you.
Beaches, nature, arts, seclusion, serenity of the island
We found this beautiful Upside Down House to be perfect in so many ways. The location sits slightly back off Madaket Road but near the Island Bus Line and the bike path. It is private but with easy access to Madaket Beaches , Millies Restaurant or a quick trip around the Island or into Town. The house itself is well maintained , stocked and furnished for a fabulous beach vacation ( truly everything you need is available for food preparation or an afternoon at the beach) . The second floor porch off the kitchen and living area gives you a front row seat to the famous and beautiful Madaket sunsets. This is a comfortable home perfect for a family vacation or a couple or two couples wanting to stay in a location outside of town. We had a great time here and the owners were very easy to deal with and accommodating - - Really a nice vacation house , what more can I say
This lovely Nantucket home is located on a very private lot just off the Madaket Road. With convenient access to both the beach and downtown, we found this home to be a perfect setting for a family vacation. The upper deck offers ocean views and wonderful sunsets. The owners were great to deal with and we found the house immaculate and nicely furnished. The galley kitchen and pantry were well stocked, plus there is everything you need for a day at the beach.
Our family spent 2 weeks at that beautiful home out in Madaket. The home is even better than the pictures. Plenty of space for a family of 6 with gorgeous sunset views from the two west facing decks. The house was immaculate when we arrived and so well stocked. Madaket Millie's is a must! The only restaurant in the Madaket area and only a 1/2 mile away. Perfect for a casual lunch, dinner or just cocktails. The beach, as well, is the same 1/2 mile away. The bike path crosses the driveway. Left out of the driveway is a 1/2 mile ride to the beach, a right turn will take you 10 miles on the bike path towards town. Two full baths plus an outdoor shower are perfect. The galley kitchen & huge pantry were stocked with all your cooking needs. Nantucketopoly was too fun with a few other games as well. Madaket is quiet & tranquil, but a quick bus or car ride away awaits the bustling downtown area. We highly recommend this property and the owner was a pleasure to deal with.
This adorable house with great views, is perfectly located 1/2 a mile from Madaket beach with the bus stop right at the end of the driveway. The house itself was spotless when we arrived and just as described and shown in the pictures; it is perfect for families, couples, or a group of friends with ample sleeping options, 2 bathrooms, and an outside shower, and even a fun loft kids will love. The deck with views of the ocean is the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a glass of wine.
The beach is a quick bike ride or even quicker ride on the bus, which can be caught at the end of the driveway every half an hour. Madaket beach is a beautiful and can be walked for miles; we walked out to Smith Point and enjoyed swimming off the tip of the island with views of Tuckernuck. There is Madaket Millies, a great restaurant/bar right off the beach (where the bus drops you off), that has delicious food and makes great drinks, as well as a sandwhich shop where you can grab lunch to eat on the beach.
It's just as easy to jump on the bus and head into town for shopping and restaurants or to catch buses out to the other parts of the island. We biked and bussed all over the island, throwing the bikes on the bus when we were too tired to get back. There was never a time we needed a car.
It was a beautiful week and the perfect place to stay!
outstanding beach house with wonderful harbor views
very warm, roomy home with great location - 1/2 mile to beach
will return for longer stay next time
Thank you so much for a wonderful 4th of July weekend! The design of the house was perfect for catching fireworks, ocean breezes and fuchsia sunsets! We loved cooking lobster dinner at home in the big lobster pot in front of the fire and playing Nantucketopoly. We really like the Madaket location which is private and beachy, while still close to town. It was our first year coming where we had perfect sunny skies every single day, 11 Mississippi must be lucky J. We’re looking forward to our next trip!
