My husband and I spent a week in this beautiful house, it is very clean and well equipped. John and Kim are very gracious and we enjoyed our conversations with them. Another couple stayed a few nights with us, there was plenty of room and privacy. The house is in a nice peaceful setting making it a wonderful getaway. I enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the birds and squirrels, we even saw an eagle flying over the cove. The deep water boat dock is very nice even though the lake was low we could navigate to fish. The drive and yard around the LAKE house is somewhat steep, but we just looked at it as good exercise and walked it a lot. We hope to stay there again someday!

Very nice home, super steep lot, no fire pit

  • 4 of 5

We just had a family weekend at this cabin with 3 generations. The cabin is very nice, new, clean and comfortable. The beds and furnishings were very nice as were the owners. We had 6 adults and 4 little children and found separate spaces for all the kids - one stayed in the bonus room, one stayed in a pack-n-play in the laundry room, another in a pack-n-play in the spacious and nice master closet and the final baby in a pack-n-play in the master bath. If you have young children, these are good spaces for them to sleep. The photos of the listing were accurate and the lot is INDEED very steep and goes down to the lake (stressful with you have 2 2-year-olds). Also, one of the things we love most about renting a cabin in the fall is having a fire pit each night to sit around, enjoy the outdoors and make s'mores. This house didn't seem to have a fire pit at all and the owners didn't want us to create one because its been so dry. That was something the whole family was looking forward to and missed, so without a fire pit, we would not visit again. The house was well appointed in the kitchen and baths but the lighting was very poor in the kitchen making it hard to see to cook. Seating at the kitchen table is for 6 + 2 additional chairs at the bar, so I'd say this is a comfortable house for 6 adults if you want private sleeping spaces. We drove over to the Lake Barkley National Park and enjoyed their walking areas and playground. This house would be better for a family with older children who were going to go on the lake.

Owner's Response: In regard to the lay of the land to the boat dock, anyone that stays at this home, will find the walkway to the boat dock, is approximately 20 degrees from the house, and I doubt that you can find 10% of homes on this lake any better. We have other homes, that are 5 times steeper and if they want, they can drive their car to the other boat dock, but most people walk. When this customer booked the house, she was informed that there was a no burn zone in effect, as it has been so dry, there is also a $500 fine if you are caught burning. We regret that her small children were disappointed, that they didn't get to cook their smores! We did take time, to call the State Forestry to lodge her complaint and explained why ( and they hung up on us!!!!.) We DO try to please our customers!

Beautiful home

  • 4 of 5

Our trip was very enjoyable- staying in this beautiful home. Owners very helpful. We had 4 generations in this home - ages ranging from 17 months old to 86 yrs old. The main level was spacious for us to enjoy each others company. Wonderfully equipped kitchen where we prepared all our meals. The only drawback was the steep driveway & slanted concrete by the front porch- a little difficult for the elderly, who use a walker or cane.

Wonderful Week in a Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

Our week could not have been better. This is a beautiful house in a near perfect setting. We had 5 adults and 2 teenagers in our party and there is more than enough room. The home is impeccably maintained, stocked with everything you need except food, and the owners are friendly and gracious hosts. We need only to pick the dates for our return trip next year.

Owner's Response: We really enjoyed having this wonderful party and look forward to having them back in the future. Meeting wonderful people, that we would otherwise, not have the opportunity to do, is what we enjoy the most about this endeavor! After all, our guests are why we are here, and we greatly appreciate their business!!

Fantastic family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a week at this house and everything was absolutely outstanding! The home is beautiful and has direct access to the lake. We definitely got our use out of the private boat slip and swimming dock and used both daily. We plan to make another trip next summer (hopefully to the same house) as we had such a great time. The owners are friendly, attentive, and live in close-proximity to the rental if you need them. The home is on a rather steep grade so it may be difficult for young children or elderly family members to access the lake. Nonetheless, I have a 6 and 5-year old and they both made it around the property with ease. This really is a great spot and well worth the rate.
