About Rebecca Schellings
Hello from The Schellings. Our family of 5 enjoys traveling and lots of activities. Since we have 3 boys, spending time outdoors is a MUST. That's why we love spending time at the Moosehead! We built The Moosehead Cabin 2000. We wanted a place we could get to easily from Seattle (less than 2 hours), and had lots of space for our boys to run. We also wanted to be on a lake where we could enjoy activities like water skiing, fishing, and canoeing. When we stumbled on on Bay Lake, we knew we had found the place. Steve was nicknamed 'moose' throughout his school years, so we thought it would be fun to build a mini-lodge with a moose as the centerpiece. And so it began. The Moosehead Cabin has been a labor of love, and we enjoy every minute we're there. We hope you do to.

Why Rebecca Schellings chose Lakebay
Close to Seattle. Lots of privacy. Lake allows motorized boats. Great Southern exposure with lots of sun. Good restaurants and shopping in charming Gig Harbor.
What makes this Cabin unique
PRIVACY!! When we looked at other 'destination' places, most of the houses were all close together. We love the fact that no one sees us on our property, and we feel like we're miles away...yet really not at all!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Wonderful Family Getaway
Our group of six adults and four kids had a relaxing long weekend at Moosehead. The lake was quiet and we had so much fun exploring and playing on the large lawn. This was our fourth time at the cabin and each time has been great.
We experienced some trash/pool maintenance issues likely due to being the first group after the Labor Day holiday. The owners were lovely and responsive.
A great time was had by all!
We had a great time at the Moosehead Cabin! Great multi-family getaway with lots to keep us entertained. Kids had a blast in the pool, fishing, and playing in the huge yard. A great time was had by all, we will definitely consider coming back in the future!
This is our 3rd year in a row to visit the Moosehead. Even the grandkids talk about our adventures all year long. It’s always a sad day when we have to pack up and say goodbye to to “bear” and “moose”!😢 We fill the cabin with laughs and joy!🥰
Perfect multi-generational family time!!
We have loved staying at Moosehead Cabin for several years now. It is just about perfect from the pool, to the lake and boats, outdoor and indoor eating space, ping pong, nearby state park, large kitchen for our enthusiastic cooks, trees and blackberries. Thank you to the Schellings for sharing their wonderful home.
Great Family time
We had such a great family time at the cabin, we will definitely will be back!
Great property but difficult to fish
We rented this property for annual fishing trip with my kids. The property is great and having the pool and hot tub was great! However, we rely on the dock for fishing with the kids as we only have a small boat. The dock is missing a piece and we were not notified otherwise we would have cancelled . Due to the amount of weeds in the lake it is very difficult to fish (not the owners fault obviously) but even harder when you can’t get to the deeper part of the dock. The barbecue was also out of propane which was a bummer. Also only a few TV channels just in case that matters to anyone reviewing.
The owner is responsive and the property is a great getaway....tons of birds and it is peaceful
The beds are comfy and the home is clean.
I’m surprised you say you would have cancelled if you knew a section of dock was missing as the dock is still more than 40’ into the water and the section missing was near the end (the water at the end is not any deeper than where the dock currently stops ).
Also, the row boat can easily be launched from the shore which is where it is stored anyway.
Due to the recent hot weather, there is milfoil bloom which is common in most of Washington’s lakes now. You’re right in that there is t much we can do about that.
Bay Lake is a shallow lake and has mostly large mouth bass which are not deep water fish like trout. So keep that in mind when choosing this lake for fishing!
The guest book explains that we do not refill the propane tanks because we don’t live nearby, but that propane is available 5 minutes away.
We only provide basic cable (due to the cost of cable and we try to keep our rates affordable), however it is a smart tv so you can watch Netflix, Amazon, etc. We also provide a DVD player with a lot of movies.
I think you will agree that given the privacy, views, pool and hot tub, large piece of property and home, the value and price for a stay here is quit the deal!!
Ten private acres on BAY LAKE. Best of both, freshwater (lake) and salt water beaches up the road at PENROSE STATE PARK.
