Cima del Mundo is a piece of heaven and Culebra is paradise! The house is located on a quiet hill with views of Vieques and the main island. The views of the sunrise and sunset were spectacular and at night you could hear a pin drop. It comes fully equipped with cooking appliances, TV, towels, beach chairs, etc. If you are looking for luxury this is not the place for you but if you are looking for a low key place for some soul searching, this is the place for you! Ann is a very friendly, accommodating hostess that gave us the privacy that we wanted.
This is a wonderful home to stay in while visiting Culebra. Ann greeted us at the jeep rental agency and showed us the way to her house. It was simple, beautiful, and had everything that we wanted and needed. Culebra shuts down fairly early during the week, so we found ourselves reading books and enjoying the view and deck each night. Ann, thank you for sharing this with us! We look forward to staying with you again.
We also appreciated having the beach chairs, towels, cooler, and insect repellent at hand. They were additional perks that made our stay even easier and more enjoyable.
I want to thank Ann for sharing her beautiful place with us. The views and the breeze at the top of the hill are truly unique. True to other reviews there is space for some updating of the property but the feeling of peace and seclusion you get at Ann’s cottage makes up for whatever luxuries you might want to find at this simple and welcoming place.
P.S. Morning walks to Punta Soldado were great but the steep driveway become a real challenge!
We loved the Round House. Simple living in a most beautiful setting.A great panoramic view with whale watching ,sunsets, breezes and lots of privacy.Beautiful how the light and the air comes through this special place. We had everything we needed except more time. We will definitely be back.
We had 7 nights at the Hilltop Home and wish we could have stayed there longer. The view is spectacular and the house is well equipped with everything you need. All the windows, and there are many of them, are covered with screens. You can control the airflow in the house (and privacy) just by closing some shutters. That was handy a couple nights when the trade winds picked up. Ann was a great host. She met us at the Jeep rental (get a Jeep! The driveway is steep and golf cart brakes are not great) and took us to the house, which was handy because it would otherwise be a tad hard to find. The location provided plenty of privacy and got you away from the noise of staying in town. The house is like a giant yurt made out of wood. There is really only one room and a private bath (as long as you close the shutters in the bathroom!). Water is from a cistern and is probably fine but we preferred to use bottled water for drinking.
One real nice amenity was the books on tropical fish. We snorkeled almost every day and it was great to bring back our underwater pictures and be able to identify the fish that we had seen, and we did see many fish, turtles, and rays.
Other things that were great... The wrap around deck was a great place to sit and relax and watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The view gave us glimpses of Vieques, Puerto Rico main island, St Thomas, and several of the small out lying islands.
We loved this place and will definitely try to get it again when we next visit Culebra!
This review is a bit late, but better late than never... I stayed at Ann's house the last week of January and the month of February 2015. The house sits at the top of a steep, curved road so a 4 wheel drive is a must. The entire house is surrounded by windows overlooking the water. Sometimes a rainbow on the morning, spectacular sunsets and after dark you can see the lights on the coast of Vieques. I traveled by myself with my miniature dachshund. She is well behaved, but there aren't too many places on Culebra that allow pets behaved or not! She spent many happy hours just laying in the sun that streams in through the huge windows. Ann is a great person and was always available to answer any questions.
