About: My wife and I moved to Bear Lake about 5 years ago and started Bear Lake Cabin Rentals about 4 years ago. We love the Bear Lake area. The lake is such a beautiful blue and the area is so nice and charming. The winters can be cold but they are so peaceful and uncongested. It is a great place to get away from the busy city life.
Why Garden City:
We enjoy managing properties for people and not only building a relationship with the owners but all the great guest that stay with us. We have a lot of people that come back year after year to enjoy all that Bear Lake has to offer
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
During the summer months there are tons of great outdoor activities. There is the Minnetonka cave, tons of hiking and biking trails. A huge beautiful lake for boating, water skiing and wake boarding. In the winter Beaver Mountain is just 15 minutes up the canyon and is an undiscovered treasure for the ski or snowboard enthusiast. There are hundreds of miles of terrain for snowmobiling and some great sledding hills too.
Our family stayed at Chickadee Lodge in Harbor Village in early summer 2015. The view was Beyond Breathtaking! Our expectations were met and exceeded. The Lodge was very clean and well stocked with the necessary appliances, cleaning supplies, linens, and towels our large crowd needed during our stay. This lodge was able to accommodate everyone very comfortably without people tripping over each other. There were always quiet areas for solitude as well as large enough areas for groups and games. Everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly and left with wonderful memories.
The only inconvenience we came across was that the thermostats were confusing to operate and in the end, we did not master them. There was plenty of refreshing air conditioning, however at night, many people were either cold or were too hot to sleep, depending on which room they were in.
We wish there had been a yard/lawn area for the kids to play close by, but this may happen in the future. There was ample lawn for fun games down by the Harbor Village pool and tennis courts which we enjoyed.
For those with toddlers, I would recommend bringing age appropriate toys from home as there were no indoor toys for their specific age group.
The management company was Most Accommodating. They provided every service they could offer for a family member with a handicap, and they provided pack'n plays for toddlers at no additional cost. They were also very courteous in coordinating a specialized check out time for one family member with a scheduled business web meeting.
This is a perfect location for a large group to enjoy their Bear Lake experience. We highly recommend it and we hope future reunions bring us back to this fantastic lodge.
We had a group 23 and stayed from 7/14/2013-7/20/2013.
Pros: This lodge had a beautiful view of Bear Lake and the surrounding area. Large and spacious. Potential to be a real gem. The cabin was set back and in a quiet area. Plenty of parking spaces. There is a refrigerator and deep freezer outside as well as the refrigerator inside. Nice big walk-in pantry for storing lots of food. There was a TV & DVD player in almost every room. We really enjoyed using the fire pit on the front porch. The kitchen was huge and accommodated all of us for meals.
Cons: Desperately needed to be deep cleaned! For the price we paid, the cleanliness in the cabin was totally lacking. There was food and trash in between the couch cushions (applies to all of the couches), carpets were NOT vacuumed, downstairs shower had black mold underneath the mat, downstairs area rug was filthy (and underneath was worse), outside grill & griddle were COVERED in grease & grime, and all surfaces were dusty. It was despicable.
Both master bedroom mattresses need replacement - they're old & sunken-in. The couples that slept in these rooms ended up using air mattresses because they were so uncomfortable.
Both green couches on the lower level smelled like urine BAD.
1st Floor Master Bedroom closet smelled like cat/dog urine BAD.
The games/movies on the lower level living room were in shambles. There were movies missing from their cases & the games were in such disarray that they were all unplayable (fortunately, we had brought our own).
We recently stayed here for a family reunion which included 23 people. It was great! Beautifully decorated. There was ample space. It was well equipped; we had everything we needed. Used the voucher to rent stand up paddle boards on the north beach.
I have to think hard for anything that wasn't perfect. The hot tub wasn't very warm and we were unable to adjust it. Instructions for the hot tub would have been helpful.
Bear Lake is one of our favorite places! The weather was great, the accommodations were great, overall a great trip. Would stay here again.
My personal recommendations as to what everyone needs to do in Bear Lake includes:
-Eat a raspberry shake
-Visit Minnetonka Cave
-Boat or seadoo on the beautiful water
-Look for the Bear Lake Monster
-Watch a play at Pickleville Playhouse
-Snowmobile in the 100s of miles of groomed trails
