This beachfront apartment is located at Playa Serena Residential Resort and is on Gorgona Beach. The apartment is in the low rise building that steps onto the beach. You can enjoy an beachfront experience in a resort environment. The apartment is fully furnished and has all the comforts of home including two HDTV's, two DVD Players (Living room and Bedroom), Internet, full cooking facilities, dining and living area and balcony with BBQ. The apartment is a one bedroom with a convertible queen sofa-bed in the living area and is approximately 1000 square feet. You will enjoy the beautiful beachfront setting as well as all the benefits of a Residential Resort. The complex contains 54,000 square feet of social area including a pool and Gym.
Gorgona is one of the most visited beaches due to its close proximity to the city. The beachfront in Gorgona is a mix of white and volcanic sand, and the various stretches of beaches go on for miles. Add to this mix, palm trees, and a tropical climate with temperatures typically varying between 80 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Summer seems to never end. Gorgona is an easy drive from Panama city and is located 10 minutes from the well known area of Coronado. Coronado offers amenities that include a full scale 24 hour supermarket, pharmacies, restaurants of every type and price range, with some of the best food around, world class golf courses, medical clinics and out door markets.
The climate in Panama is tropical and there are two seasons, wet and dry. The dry season is considered Panama's summertime, and lasts from January through March. The rainy season or what is considered Panama's winter, goes from April to December. During the wet season it does not mean that rain lasts nonstop for days, but that almost each day there is some rain. What you will see is a huge black cloud approach, a downpour of rain followed by sunshine.
The Panama Canal is central to world trade. The country has much to offer with beaches, mountains, temperate climates, Rainforest and world history. There is much to explore.

A Canadian Couple: Steve and Dianne. My wife and I are a Canadian couple who travelled to Panama in late 2006. We decided to travel to Panama because I had lived in Panama City as a child, had fond memories of the country and culture and wanted to share this history with my wife. Although English is spoken throughout the country, I resurrected what I could remember of my Spanish and put it into practice as we toured around. Not only did we have a memorable trip but we decided to make Panama our home during the winter months when we retired, even though retirement was some years away. As luck would have it, shortly after our departure from Panama we became aware of the Playa Serena Residential Resort Project, which was just getting underway with release of the first phase of the project. We were interested in the low rise beach front apartments. We decided to purchase an ocean front apartment in February 2007. In December 2008 we visited the construction site and, in the picture we are standing on the spot where the low rise building was to be constructed. We will be coming to this special getaway a few times a year, but we also wished to create an apartment that would be welcoming and offer a beachfront experience with a resort environment for others from around the world to experience this wonderful setting and everything Panama has to offer. Panama is a vacationer's paradise. Panama is famous for the Panama Canal but is fast becoming the number one vacation destination in the world. The country is attracting attention from every corner of the globe as Panama has a naturally beautiful landscape, many tourist attractions, National Parks and Reserves, world class Golf Courses, restaurants of all kinds and countless shopping areas. Gorgona Beach, which is considered to be in the dry arc of Panama and a 50 minute drive from the Tocumen International Airport. Gorgona is one of the most visited beaches due to its close proximity to the city. The beachfront in Gorgona is a mix of white and volcanic sand, and the various stretches of beaches go on for miles. Add to this mix, palm trees, and a tropical climate with temperatures typically varying between 80 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Summer seems to never end.

You will experience a tropical climate varying between 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit, Swimming pools, gazebo, thatched roof gathering areas, BBQ area, and Indoor Gym. Activities include Kayaking, parasailing, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, sailing, windsurfing, biking, hiking and deep-sea fishing. The Tourist attractions include the Panama National Parks, Islands, Mountains, Rainforest Reserves, Bird watching, Wildlife Refuges, World History, Jungle boat tours, Golf courses, Sightseeing Tour companies, shopping or visit a volcano at El Valle. There are a variety of restaurants and shops nearby with local prices. There is a 24 hour Grocery shopping in nearby Coronado a 10 minute drive or a nice bike ride.
My husband and I spent four weeks at Playa Serena and loved every moment. We have used VRBO several times and have never been disappointed. Steve and Diane's condo exceeded our expectations! The kitchen was very well equipped and the bbq was an added bonus. We cooked most of our meals at the condo .. I mean how could you not with all the fresh fish in the area. The king bed was so comfy .... the unit was very clean .... the ice maker was used all the time! We loved our time in Panama and are planning on going back next year ... but for two months rather than just one month. There is so much to see and do!
Steve and Diane went out of their way to make sure that we had everything for an awesome vacation .. from providing information about booking transportation to/from airport, to giving us ideas on which tours to take, and information on car rentals. We would highly recommend this condo!

My husband and I welcomed in 2015 on a sandy beach in Playa Serena, listening to the waves and watching the incredible fireworks under swaying palm trees. Yes, it was pretty much perfect! We rented Steve & Diane's condo for a month and thoroughly had a great time. All the amenities of home were provided, wi fi, magic jack, cable, dvd's and a well appointed kitchen. The bonus was having almost immediate access to the beach, the long walks every morning kept us in shape and the continuous dips in the ocean and pool were so refreshing. It became a tradition with a few of us to bring cocktails and appies and meet on the beach at 5:30 for the sunset, not to hard to take. Shopping and restaurants are only a 10 minute car ride and we discovered some good local spots as well, check out the fish market in Gorgona, excellent sea bass and shrimp. Spectacular views abound, day trips to Valle, Panama City and other attractions are very convenient. If you are looking for a relaxing, get-away-from-it-all spot, this is it.
We have just returned from one week at Playa Serena. Steve and Dianne’s condo was a perfect spot for our stay. The listing description was accurate and the photos do reflect the condo's appearance and amenities. The condo complex and this unit were spotless and well maintained. The condo itself is simply furnished but has everything you need that you would have in your own home including comfortable living room furniture and king bed, a great gas bar-b-que on the balcony, nice linens and beach towels, kitchen staples. The living room and bedroom are both big and bright. However, the bathroom is very tiny, which to me was odd, given the spaciousness of the rest of the condo. But it was modern and clean. The balcony has table and chairs, but white plastic - a bit more comfy furniture would be nice. Being on the first floor, it was an easy walk to the beach and to the pool, and was very private.
We were there in low season, so not too many people around. However, those that we met were very friendly and social. We were told that the complex is 60% Canadian and 40% US residents.
The property manager, Carlo, was a very nice, helpful man. Gave us some good suggestions and also helped us out when we had a car problem. He added that sense of security when you are in an unfamiliar place. The complex also has security features - gated at the entrance and at the beach. Any staff we met were friendly.
There was only one negative about Playa Serena, but it is temporary. There is construction going on. On one side, a house is being renovated and on the other a high rise complex is being built. So, everyday there is loud construction noise at the pool. At the condo, you could only hear the house renovation out on the balcony, but it was minimal compared to the high rise condo construction noise at the pool. We were told the high rise will be completed by March 2014. I think you would find construction almost anywhere you went along that coastal area. It seems that building is going on everywhere we looked.
A few things to note about the Playa Serena area: Nice beach for walking and enjoying the ocean. 10 minute drive to Coronado with modern grocery shops and restaurants. Within an hour’s drive to great hiking and waterfalls in El Valle and near Penonome. One hour outside of Panama City. In all, Playa Serena is a great place to base yourself for exploring the area. We would certainly come back to this condo.
We just finished a 6 week stay in this condominium in this condo. In short, we felt spoiled.
We found our condo to be superbly appointed, with special touches that makes it obvious the owners had made some very thoughtful decisions aimed at making the renter's stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. As a small example, we were supplied with 2 sets of keys at the outset, and a binder had been made with all sorts of pertinent information about the unit and the town.
In terms of appliances and equipment, our condo has a gas stove (absolutely love it - now feel spoiled), ice cube maker in the fridge (we went through LOTS of ice), dishwasher, washer and dryer (large units), and very high quality cooking and baking materiel, cutlery, plate settings, cutting knife sets and many handy kitchen gadgets - all there. The kitchen has ample cabinetry, including a deep floor to ceiling pantry that we could never hope to fill.
The living area is large and well decorated and has high quality furnishings, as well as a large screen flat wall-mounted TV, DVD, cable box, wireless Internet, two overhead fan/lights, dining table and chairs. The balcony, aside from its terrific view of the grounds and beach, is equipped with an overhead fan (for when the evening breeze fails) and one of the finest propane barbecue I've ever used. An outdoor table and chairs completes the picture (we ate almost every evening meal here, with surf sounds and stars).
The bedroom is also large, and equally well furnished - a kingsize bed, dressers, end-table and lights, walk-in closet, a programmable wall-secured safe, extra sets of sheets, pillows, bath towels, beach towels, and a second large screen wall-mounted TV and DVD. The bathroom is small, only in comparison to the ample porportions of the other rooms. Even this had some nice touches, including a motion-activated strong nightlight (at our age, this goes from luxury to necessity, but it is thoughtful nevertheless), a dual flush toilet and a strong bathing suit drying rack - in constant use in our case.
Both the living area and bedroom each contained powerful floor standing dehumidifiers, with water vented through the outside wall, so there was no need to constantly empty coll
My husband and I recently rented this condo for a month and could not have been happier. We have vacationed in Panama 4 or 5 times and knew the general area. You are literally "on the beach" and can enjoy listening to the waves. We took many long walks on the beach and some through the neighborhood. The Gorgona fish market is about a 10 or 15 minute walk down the beach where you can purchase a fresh catch (and ask them to clean the fish for an extra dollar!). La Ruina is a fun restraurant you can walk to and is open Thursday to Sunday. Make sure to ask for the "tour".
The condo is a very large spacious one bedroom supplied with all the comforts of home. Being able to barbeque on the balcony was a bonus, especially grilling our "fresh catch of the day" from the Gorgona fish market!
The social area and pool are a nice place to visit with other renters and owners. We met several nice people and enjoyed a couple dinners out with our new friends. Also a nice place to exchange information and get a shopping, sight seeing, or restraurant tip!
We both recommend this as a vacation destination. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners who happened to be vactioning at the same time. They make sure everything is in good working order and continue to give the unit TLC to ensure it is ready for the next guest to ENJOY!!!
So often rental properties aren't exactly as they claim to be. In this case, NOT SO! Everything was as the description said it was. Steve and Dianne have made this unit not a rental unit but your home away from home. They have taken great care in furnishing this unit as to making sure you want for nothing. They will answer any questions about the unit or area honestly. I would not hesitate in recommending Steve's unit and the Play Serena to any of my friends who want a relaxing holiday with plenty of sunshine.
