Come relax and unwind in a tranquil cabin in the trees. Located just a mile from downtown Guerneville near the idyllic Russian River, this charming hillside cottage is perfect for a romantic retreat, an outdoor adventure, or working on that novel you've been meaning to write. You truly feel away from it all in this peaceful setting with stunning forest views. Simple vintage furnishings and a lack of distracting technological amenities allow you to enjoy the quiet curled up on the couch in front of a fire or lounging on the spacious, private deck with outdoor shower and tree swing. Take a short stroll to the neighborhood beach at Summer Crossing, or explore the many wineries, restaurants, hiking trails and antique shops in the surrounding area.
Built in the 1930s as a summer getaway, the cabin was beautifully crafted from local redwood trees with a number of delightful details that make it unique. The lower level has a cozy bedroom with a built-in full size bed. The bathroom has tiled floor and a redwood shower. Exit the lower level to go up the stairs to the upper level, which has a spacious open living, dining and kitchen area. The living area has a comfortable convertible bed in front of a wood stove. Sit on the stool at the bar while your loved one prepares a meal in the kitchen equipped with refrigerator, stove, oven and utensils. Enjoy your meal at the dining room table while looking out over the trees from the giant picture windows.
****PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING****
Please read this description thoroughly, as well as traveler reviews, to ensure our cabin is the right fit for your traveling style and expectations. This is a homey, unpolished cabin in the woods. Those who love peace and quiet and rustic getaways from modernity LOVE our place, don't mind the stair workout to get there, and keep coming back. Please read on for important things of note:
Kids and pets are welcome at your own risk as there are no child safe railings on the deck and no fenced-in area for dogs. The cabin is on a quarter-acre of wooded land on a hill. There are about 80 steps from the parking area to the cabin (see picture #14), so it is definitely not wheelchair accessible and may be difficult for the elderly or those with knee problems. The privacy on the hill is worth the trek!
Due to its lack of central heating and insulation, the Treehouse will not be available for rent in December and January. Due to popular demand, we have extended our season to include November, February and March. We do this with the caveat that it may rain and could be chilly, but if you want it, you got it.

We fell in love with this cabin the moment we saw it. It is absolutely charming and we feel removed from the stresses of the world while we are there, yet we can head out and be at any number of amazing restaurants in minutes. With the Russian River just a short walk away, the beautiful coast a mere 15 minute drive, and the amazing unpretentious plethora of wineries nearby, this location has all the best Sonoma County has to offer. We have traveled extensively, and we feel it is truly one of the best locations in the world.
We have intentionally kept our cabin as simple as possible. While we are there, we don't want the distractions of television or the internet. Other places may offer more amenities, but our peaceful place is perfect for reconnecting with nature and one another or just enjoying a good book in silence. Plus, there aren't too many places private enough that you can enjoy a shower in the outdoors under the redwoods.
We had a wonderful, rejuvenating experience for 5 days by the Russian River. The cabin is very much like a cozy tree house perched on top of a hill. There are 2 cabins connected by a wooden stairway. A smaller one with a captain's bed and a bathroom and a larger space with kitchen, living and dining area. Windows look out on tall trees all around you. There is a large wrap around deck that feels completely private with views of the trees and hillside. There is even an outdoor shower for rinsing off after river adventures. I felt like I was in an organic shampoo commercial showering in the middle of a forest! We loved the rustic feel of the wooden cabin complete with a wood burning stove. As many reviewers have mentioned, there are a lot of stairs to climb and getting back and forth from the driveway will get your heart rate up. And no TV or internet access. But we felt it was well worth it for the magical feeling you get of being high up among the trees. The cabin is also a 3 minute drive from town and only a 5 minute walk from the river itself. I would highly recommend this place as a romantic getaway or a fun cabin to share with a small group of friends.
Very clean, well supplied and comfortable EXCEPT for the bed...Not comfortable! That being said, I have no other complaints or negative comments. Very private and relaxing. Outdoor shower was super cool! Yes, there are a lot of stairs, but I just considered it a short "work out"....good exercise. Wonderful retreat!!!. Please consider replacing the mattress on bed, I want to return someday, but my back can't take it.
My husband and I stayed here for 2 night our 13 year olds and it was awesome!!!! I could have sat on the deck and read forever and been happy. Such a nice get away from the hustle and bustle of life!
The cabin was exactly as described. The perfect getaway. Intimate, clean, private and well-situated.
We will probably return soon!
It's a tough little walk up to the house but it's worth it. We spent a couple wonderful summer afternoons and evenings reading on the deck after morning hikes in the Armstrong Woods. A cute little place to get away with lots of little quirky touches. We'll be back.
Everything about our stay was perfection! Yes it's true there is a good amount of steps leading to the cabin, but the pay off is worth it. The house is charming, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed was cozy. It was wonderful having no TV or Wifi (actually there is one sliver of reception but I'm not telling where) We walked to the local beach everyday it was so peaceful. Over all the tree house exceeded all my expectations and my family wants to come back every year.
Short walk to Russian River (less than 5 minutes to Summer Crossing, a local gravel beach where dogs are welcome)
