We currently live in Waterford, MI without two kids and two dogs. When our kids got super busy with sports we decided to share our home with others and it's been a great experience. Over the years we've been lucky to have people who have come back year after year. Several have fallen in love with the area and purchased places of their own.
Shelly Kesh purchased this house in 1997
We may be biased, but we feel like we have the best spot on the lake! Our home sits across from a nature preserve and it's on the widest part of the lake so looking out from the house you really get that up north, quiet feeling, even though you're never more than a short boat ride to Torch Lake where all the action is. The house itself has large windows and door walls and an all glass sunroom with gorgeous views of the lake. There's a huge deck very close to the waters edge and the way the house is situated you're not looking at the neighbors.
Great spot for biking, jogging, long walks. Close to Bellaire for shopping and restaurants. Visit Shorts Brewery and Lulus!
We enjoyed every minute our stay!!! It was a great family vacation and the space was utilized well in the cabin. Cleaned and remodeled. Breath taking views, enjoy fishing on clam lake and boating and swimming in torch lake. Easy accesses to everything. My family would definitely stay again.
Shelly was incredibly nice, and did a wonderful job getting us set up. The cottage is very nice, and can sleep 8-10 comfortably. We loved being on Clam Lake, as it is not nearly as busy as Torch Lake, but still within a 15 min boat ride of Torch if you want to venture out that way. We will definitely be staying here again in the future!
The property was as described; spending the week here was very enjoyable and being on the lake was great. Found our way into town to enjoy the little shops and restaurants and was close enough to Traverse City to enjoy a day trip. We would recommend this to anyone wanting to enjoy peace and relaxation.
The house was great. Perfect location to wake up and walk onto the porch for the sunrise and just a short boat ride to Torch Lake. Would defiantly recommend this house to others and come again!
Cottage was recently renovated and very clean and charming. We enjoyed being able to tie the boat to the dock. The only negative is the lake is mucky and weedy at the dock so we could not swim at the dock.
My family and I and a couple of friends stayed here, the house is very pretty inside and has all the amenities you will need. We choose this place because it was pet friendly and had the dock space for a jet boat and jet skis. The inside of the house was very clean and nicely decorated. The outside was lovely as well. We really enjoyed sitting around the fire pit at night and looking at the stars. You will have to provide your own firewood which there are a couple of locations nearby that have some. At one of the marinas down the road and then there is some at a private residents east of the property. We enjoyed our stay as we had great weather and the water was very warm. Just a warning if you have a jet powered boat or jet skis to be careful while leaving and returning to the dock as the bottom of the river has a lot of debris that can get sucked up, we had to pull out our jet skis twice to remove driftwood that got lodged in there. Also be careful if you plan on going into the water as it is very muddy and if you have sandals on you will lose them in the mud. This is only really the only downfall as it is very muddy and has a lot of seaweed so swimming right off the dock really isn't an option. If you go out where it is deeper you won't have any problems since you won't be touching the bottom. Shelly was very accommodating and responded to my messages very quickly. We had an issue with some wasp and that same day there was someone there spraying which took care of the issue, so thank you for that. Also thank you for allowing our dogs as they are part of our family and not very many places allow dogs. This is the perfect place to get away and just relax and enjoy beautiful northern Michigan. Have fun!
Northern Michigan waterfront at it's best. Peaceful, quiet location yet still close to shopping, golf and many other activities. Newer home with 2 story ceiling in great room, lake views from kitchen, sun room, great room and upstairs sleeping loft. Updated decor. Laundry room. Kitchen has all appliances, fully equipped. Just 5 minutes from spectacular Torch Lake, visit the famous Dockside Restaurant for casual dining. Turtle Creek Casino is 30 minutes drive. 40 minutes to Charlevoix and 40 minutes to Traverse City.
