The property was great, the views were spectacular and the owners were very friendly.
4-night stay in July
The communication with Cindy was excellent throughout the process. Property is well described and perfect for our family of three which included our ten month old. Beautiful sunsets from the back yard and the beach. We were lucky enough to be able to use the private beach during our stay despite the record high water levels of the lake. Quiet location between South Haven and Saugatuck. Would definitely stay here again!
Big yard with great view of Lake Michigan.
Great Weekend on Lake Michigan
Great Family Get Away
The Cottage on the Glen served our family well. The cottage was clean and cozy, providing most of our needs. The view of Lake Michigan is breath taking from the yard. We had a wonderful time by the fire pit making s'mores and watching the sunset.
Because of excessive rain prior to our trip, we were disappointed by the beach being overtaken by the water. Be aware of the weather before you visit.
Wonderful time at the Cottage in the Glen!
It was the perfect place for my Sisters and I to be. The view was perfect along with the privacy of the beach. Cindy was easy to communicate with. The cottage had the necessary things needed. It was close to South Haven and Dees market had yummy vegetables and jams which was maybe 1 mile away. Very Enjoyable!
Am so glad to hear you and your sisters had a wonderful time. It is always fun to have sister time! Hope you think of making this an annual event at the Cottage in the Glenn!
Glenn is a quaint 4 corner town called 'The Pancake Town'. On Dec 7 1937 a heavy snowstorm hit Glenn with snow measuring 14 -30 inches deep in many places After 48 hours when the wind finally subsided the local people opened their doors and ventured out into a winter wonderland with drifts as high as ten feet in many places.
This was many years before the interstate highway was constructed. U.S. 31 (Blue Star Highway) was, at that time, the only main highway on this side of the state and it passed right through Glenn. In the wake of the storm 100 cars and 60 trucks were stalled in the snow. Over 200 motorist found themselves marooned in Glenn.
Glenn, always known for its hospitable nature and community spirit did not hesitate in opening up homes and businesses to accomodate the stranded motorists. 'Pancakes, without sausage' became the daily special for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We still have the 'Pancake Breakfast' in Glenn to this day on special dates.
Other Activities: The Cottage in the Glenn is located in between South Haven and Saugatuck-Douglas. You have your choice of many fine dinig restaurants, wineries, antique shops, art galleries, theaters and shopping. Enjoy an evenings walk along the boat docks after dinner in Saugatuck and South Haven. Fennville is just a short drive away where you can go to the famous 'Crane Orchard' for lunch or pick in season fruit. Salt of the Earth restaurant in Fennville is another great restaurant. Michigan has many festivals such as the National Blue Berry Fest, Tulip Fest, the Maritime Tall Ships sailing, Venetian Night and waterfront Film Festivals.
Don't forget to visit Sherman Dairy in South Haven for the best ice cream cone yet! Their scoops of ice cream are the largest I've ever had!
In Glenn, visit Earls Farm Market or Dee's Farm for fresh fruit and vegetables.
Southwest Michigan is great!
