About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 5.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

If you're looking for a spectacular home to enjoy the serenity and beauty of Nantucket then come to Madequecham Village. We’re surrounded by conservation land and are 7/10 of a mile from our very own beautiful beach.

A private circular driveway leads up to this gracious, pristine new home with three floors. The tiled first floor entryway has the laundry room immediately to the right for ease in washing and drying beach towels directly from the beach. The entryway opens into a sitting room that opens to a covered porch overlooking a large landscaped back yard, perfect for playing badminton or croquet. There are three bedrooms with two full baths on the ground floor.

The lower level is the entertainment space. There are French doors that open to a flowered, tiered garden patio. The large room contains a pool table, full entertainment center—60” flat screen TV, sauna, full shower bathroom and a workout room with exercise equipment and TV.

The upper level leads to a brightly sunlit, cathedral-beamed ceiling with open living space. There’s a full dining room, well-equipped kitchen with granite countertops, a living room with fireplace, and a powder room, and the master suite has an Olympic queen bed with its own private luxurious bathroom with large shower/steam and two-person whirlpool Jacuzzi. There are French doors that lead out to the deck from the master bedroom, dining room and living room.

The upstairs deck contains a large table, chairs, lounge chairs and umbrella for eating outside with a lovely view of the ocean. There's always an ocean breeze that keeps you comfortable, but should you need it, the house has central air. There are also ceiling fans in every room. There’s another deck off the front of the house which allows you many areas to sit outside and according to the direction of the wind, you can choose which side is more protected.

The cozy, private studio which is about 100 feet from the house has a room containing two twin beds with a futon couch that opens to a double bed. There’s a small full bath with shower.

About Suzanne

My husband and I have been married for 35 years this coming July. We have a son aged 30 who lives in Oregon and a daughter 28 who's out in California. We have been living in the Boston area since 1983 and have spent every summer for at least two weeks on Nantucket Island for over 40 years. It is a very special place for all of us. After renting for 25 years, we were fortunate enough to find a piece of land on the Island that we loved. We started building in 2005 and moved into our home in 2006. The beauty, peace and serenity are appreciated during every season of the year. We feel incredibly fortunate to have this little piece of paradise.

Suzanne purchased this house in 2004

Why Suzanne chose Nantucket

Nantucket is an incredibly special place for our entire family. Our children have been going since they were born. There's an indescribable feeling when you get on the ferry to come to the Island. We were thrilled to find this piece of land in Madequecham Village and couldn't be happier. Nantucket's beautiful beaches, fine restaurants and quaint town are a perfect getaway from the day-to-day stresses of everyday life.

What makes this house unique

We are surrounded by conservation land, have an ocean view and the privacy and peacefulness are so wonderful. The upside down architecture has the majority of living space upstairs where one can appreciate all its beautiful views. There are high cathedral ceilings with lots of windows and french doors so that one feels as if the outside has been brought in. I love the sunlight and ocean air breezes that we get year round. We are surrounded by nature. It is absolutely wonderful!

Lovely Home. Peaceful Setting.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for the July 4th holiday week. The home was an excellent fit for two families (5 kids total). Plenty of room for the children to play both inside and out and beautiful deck for the adults to enjoy as well. And the kitchen was spectacular with all amenities provided. The home is immaculately kept and the owners provide beach towels, chairs etc that made the trek on the ferry much easier. The nearby beach is serene and secluded. The owners also provide information on everything one would want to know about the island in a handy binder. We are two families that have travelled together for 10+ years and are very particular about where we stay. This home is extremely well kept and organized and the owners are very personable and accommodating. We felt as if we were home. We had a great stay. I can't say enough about the home or it's owners.

Nantucket Perfection

  • 5 of 5

Our large family enjoyed an idyllic week at this beautiful house. The house is perfectly appointed with lovely large and comfortable bedrooms, several welcoming seating areas and an expansive deck overlooking the large grassy yard. The kitchen and dining room are outfitted with every possible convenience for cooking and entertaining.

The house is situated on a very private piece of property near the unspoiled Madaquecham beach. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is a must.

Suzanne was a delight. She helped me arrange everything - from figuring out where everyone would sleep to bringing in her housekeepers for a mid-week cleaning. We all hope to return to this amazing retreat.

Paradise on ACK

  • 5 of 5

We have been going to Nantucket for 8 years renting houses in several different areas through a broker. This was my first time trying VRBO after our realtor messed up our 2012 rental.

I hesitate to even write a review because I want to keep my summer paradise a secret. This house has it all. Decks on every level, views from every window and sunset from the widows walk is not to be missed. The layout is great for couples, families with kids even a guest room above the garage for distant relatives. It is by far the best house we've ever rented on the island, which is why we returned for a second summer. You can tell the owners take pride in their home and in ensuring you have a great stay. We love to eat out at all the amazing restaurants but we also love to stay in and eat out on the deck. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could ever need for a dinner for 2 or 20 (the last house we rented didn't even have a blender). If its activities you're into there's a great lawn and a room stocked with everything from paddle ball to croquet. There are a ton of beaches to choose from just down the dirt road, we've tried them all and one is better than the next. The finished basement is great, especially if you encounter a rainy day with kids. I can't say enough about the house and the experience we have had with the owners. We hope to be returning for many years.

Fan of Nantucket

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been coming to Nantucket for over 20 years and have rented all over the Island in a variety of homes. This property was by far our favorite for a number of reasons. The location was ideal as we could walk to a beautiful south facing beach, ride our bikes to Sconset, and stroll adjacent to pristine conservation land. The house takes complete advantage of the lovely Nantucket light and had every amenity you could imagine. We hosted several barbecues for family and friends and took full advantage of the fabulous kitchen, spacious outdoor deck areas, game oriented back yard, and regulation size pool table. The flow of this house is wonderful and can be enjoyed even on those rainy days that force you indoors. I highly recommend this home and plan to return next summer.

July 4th Getaway

  • 5 of 5

In one word - WOW! This house has it all and my fiancé and I had a spectacular time. We arrived for the 4th and couldn't have been happier. Walking distance to the beach!! There is nothing better than sipping coffee on the 2nd tier balcony porch with views of the Atlantic. We watched gorgeous sunsets from the widow's walk! And rain didn't bother us as we played pool and darts in the lower level room while dancing to music through the incredible sound system. My fiancé and I are health nuts and were able to work out in our very own gym as well as utilize the sauna! Like I said, this house has it all! Can't wait to go back!!!

I have had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful property on numerous occasions and have found everything about the property perfect for enjoying a wonderful family vacation on Nantucket. Large, well-manicured lawns and gardens surround the house and there are spacious second floor decks and first floor covered porches on both sides of the house that allowed us to enjoy the outdoors in any kind of weather. The home was perfect for our group since it has several different areas where people can be together or be on their own – There is the living room on the second floor where we spent a good deal of time, however, there is a reading/game room on the first floor where you could get away and enjoy some quiet time and then the large entertainment room on the lower level was perfect for watching movies or playing pool. The kids had a blast down there in the evening. The large upstairs area, which includes a gourmet kitchen, had everything we could possibly need. We appreciated not having to buy all the spices and basic cooking items since the owners were kind enough to leave them for our use. The open layout with the kitchen to the living room and dining room worked really well for our dinner parties. There is also a great workout room with exercise equipment and a sauna that got a lot of use. The location of the property is wonderful too since the entire neighborhood is in a quiet, serene setting, surrounded by nothing but thousands of acres of conservation land, and you can drive to Town in less than 10 minutes. You’re also less than a 5 minute drive or a 10-15 minute walk down a quintessential beach road from one of the most beautiful, less populated beaches on the island. I couldn't think of a more beautiful place to stay.
