David's cottage was perfect!
I was in need of a week of rest and relaxation and the cottage and all it offered was terrific. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything needed for cooking. Caught ocean breezes at the kitchen table and the outdoor patio area. The outdoor shower was amazing! I used the indoor shower only once the whole week.
Never needed the AC... the cottage is located perfectly for sea breezes.
1 minute walk to the beach.. and lots of quiet streets to walk and explore.
Have booked time for next summer. It was hard to leave.
Many thanks David for your thoughtful and kind welcome gift! It was enjoyed.
This is a wonderful one bedroom cottage in a great location, close to beaches and restaurants, and we thoroughly enjoyed our second vacation here! We found the cottage to be exactly as described in the listing, and it was immaculate and very well maintained. As a bonus, the cottage sits on a spacious corner lot, unlike most of the small cottages in the area. And there are three tables around the yard to sit and fully enjoy the 'foot traffic' heading to the beach. The owner provides excellent customer service and couldn't be more pleasant. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives. For those with bikes, the Cape Cod Rail Trail is a short drive away and a great place to ride. This year we parked in Falmouth and rode the Shining Sea Path to Woods Hole. A beautiful ride with ocean views! For those who enjoy fine dining, make a reservation at the Ocean House (Dennisport) early in the season (restaurant opens in April), as they book up very early for the summer. You will love it! Can't wait to return in 2017!
Blessed with perfect weather and a prime location, my boyfriend and I could not keep ourselves out of the water! The waves were gentle, warm and clean, and being only a few minutes walk we found ourselves jumping in two to three times daily. We also made great use of the outdoor shower; how lovely to bathe in the dappled sunlight of a shade tree! The cottage was clean and cozy, and even though it's on the corner of two streets we felt we had ample quiet and privacy. The consideration, helpfulness and hospitality of Dave is unparalleled. In addition to our "welcome" bottle of wine and bringing us fresh clams, when our vehicle wouldn't start and had to be towed, he drove us to the garage to pick it up. He's always a phone call away, ever ready to help however he can. He also mailed a hat we had left behind! We spent some time in Eastham and Chatham to visit old stopping grounds, but really, we really didn't need to go anywhere at all. This cottage has all you need for a revitalizing, unforgettable vacation!
We can't say enough good things about the cottage and the owner, David. The listing is accurate and better than we anticipated. Shad Hole Cottage is a clean, well-maintained, comfortable and safe cottage with everything we needed for the week. You will not find a more accommodating and congenial host than David who went out of his way to help us with linens, etc. Because we flew in from SC, we did not want to bring those items with us. The well-equipped kitchen, backyard grill, outside tables and chairs, beach chairs and umbrellas, etc. made our stay most pleasant.
Our ferry trip to Nantucket was one highlight of the week. On one of the busiest weeks of the season, the Steamship Authority Ferry from Hyannis was convenient, uncrowded and smooth. At Nantucket Bike Rentals near the ferry terminal, we rented bikes for just $27 each for the day.
Of course we spent hours on Sea Street Beach just a few steps away and an entire day at Marconi Beach which is stunning. We took the beach umbrellas, chairs and a picnic lunch. David provides a cooler!
Other enjoyable things of the week: Sunday morning worship at a very welcoming local church, Pilgrim's Monument, etc in Province Town, many lighthouses including the view from the top of Highland Light, Cape Cod Potato Chip Factory, ice cream, the outdoor shower at the cottage, day trip to Plymouth - don't miss the (Faith) Monument to the Forefathers, seafood at Kream 'n Kone, fresh local clams and much more!
We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the cape and David's lovely cottage.
My second summer at David's cottage was a welcomed retreat from weeks of work..
Had everything I needed for R & R.. and felt like I was visiting a familiar place..
The outdoor shower was great.. and walks to the beach in 3 minutes were terrific..
Quiet at night for sleeping.. and caught quite a bit of the cool ocean breeze.
Will be back in 2016!
We were so very pleased to have come across this little gem, as we've found it very challenging to find a comfortable, clean, conveniently located, enjoyable rental for just two people. This cottage was all that and more! The owner's description of the cottage, amenities, and location was 100% accurate. We were thrilled! The property was very clean and well maintained, and the yard is delightful. We used only the outdoor shower during our visit and miss it! It was very pleasant to have a bit of 'space' to enjoy the wonderful ocean breezes! The outdoor tables and chairs offer perfect spots for dining, relaxing, and watching the folks walking back and forth to the beach. So enjoyed being greeted with 'Good Morning!' from complete strangers! And we found the neighborhood to be very quiet...a 'must have' on our list. During our stay we tried many, if not all, of the restaurant recommendations suggested in the Directory we found in the living room. We would recommend them all as well! Whether you're looking for take-out, casual dining, a great bakery (Woolfies, just around the corner on Lower County Rd), or fine dining close by (The Ocean House--make reservations early before your trip), this location offers them all within walking distance or a very short drive. All of this AND the ocean is only a few steps away! To complete this pleasurable experience, we found David, the owner, to be extremely helpful, responsive, and very pleasant to communicate with. He goes 'above and beyond'! Thank you, David! We will definitely be returning!
The cottage is right at the warm waters of Nantucket Sound at the famous Sea Street Beach. You can't get much closer to the water without being in it! The neighborhood is Quiet, Friendly and Very Safe. Mostly foot traffic going to and from the Beach (which is free) and LITERALLY footsteps away - you can see the water from the cottage. There are 4 other Beaches within a 1/4 mile. The Perfect place for a relaxing and tranquil vacation. If you like the Beachy atmosphere, you'll love my cottage.
