About Richard Persek

Our family was raised on Long Island but when the summer came we headed for the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains. It was a great change from the city for us boys. We could fish, swim, and explore from early morning till night. And at night we usually had a campfire. It was always a great family vacation.

Richard Persek purchased this lodge in 2003

Why Richard Persek chose New York

Adirondack and Beaver Pond in particular offers 340 acres of private land shared by only eight lodges. In addition our home is on the lake next to the private dock and picnic pavilion.

What makes this lodge unique

The lake is great for fishing and canoeing. In addition, we have private hiking trails that we also use for ATVs and snowmobiles. We can see deer and wild turkeys crossing in front of the house going to the lake or grazing up the trails. In the Fall we go hunting out the back door and up over the mountain and into the 10,000 acres of Pharaoh Lake Wilderness Area. And at night sitting on the deck, we enjoy the absolute silence and the brilliant stars filling the sky. When we feel like tourist stuff, we can go down to Lake George or up to Lake Placid. We have everything you could want for a summer break.

Peace and Quiet in the Adirondacks!

  • 5 of 5

This log home is very well maintained and is nestled into a nice and peaceful area. The appliances are modern and there is laundry service in the basement. Both the owner and the realtor provided answers to any of our questions and were prompt in their responses. If you like to observe nature (we saw chipmunks, deer, ducks, an eagle, loons and a crazy osprey that liked to dive-bomb the water in search of a meal), then this is the cabin you've been looking for!

There are a few neighbors down the road (if anyone is staying there) and there are many 'regulars' residing on the main road, lakeside. Many were very friendly and polite when conversing. The owner has provided a large flat-bottom row boat which can be used on the pond and there is a sandy area to hand launch kayaks (if you bring them). The fishing was decent, depending on your target species. We caught bluegill, perch, crappie, chain pickerel and very healthy Large Mouth Bass (a tale of caution though, certain locals are very protective of 'their' bass). Don't plan on catching a few for dinner in this pond (we had very good luck catching dinner in lower Schroon Lake).

This property is on a private lake and located in between Brant Lake and Schroon Lake and the roads in are in fairly decent shape, many have been recently resurfaced. There are some local attractions and places to hike as well as some restaurants in Schroon Lake. We mostly used the grill on the deck, which is provided.

My only comment even close to a complaint would be the firmness of the mattresses, I would recommend bringing a mattress pad if you prefer a softer bed. If you like a firm bed, then you'll find it very comfortable.

I would recommend this cabin to friends and family and would definitely consider another week the following season! Thank you for allowing us into your beautiful cabin!

Wonderful experience

  • 5 of 5

The home was beautiful! Kitchen had everything you could need to cook a good home cooked meal, which we did daily, so it was a wonderful surprise to find many kitchen essentials. If we are ever in this area again, we will definitely be staying here again.

Wonderful Adirondack experience

  • 5 of 5

This Adirondack home was beautiful. It had everything we needed. The kitchen had everything we needed to host many meals for family and our bunch of 6. The views were splendid. The sleeping arrangements were perfect. There is no comparable privacy and quiet. All the comforts of home and then some. We will stay again!

Adirondack getaway

  • 5 of 5

This property lived up to our expectations. Lovely log home, overlooking Beaver Pond, we spent many hours enjoying the view from the deck. This property provided the privacy we sought with easy access to the activities we enjoyed. We played golf at schroon lake and top of the world...great bang for the buck at both but you can't beat the views at top of the world. We went whitewater rafting with Adventure Sports in Indian Lake, and had an experience we will long remember. Several walks along Schroon Lake provided us several beautiful sunsets with views of the mountains that I can not adequately describe.

This is my third experience with VRBO and I will continue to use this site for future trips.
