About Diedre Galardi

Conscientious homeowners who are pleased to own on Kiawah Island

Diedre Galardi purchased this condo in 1998

Why Diedre Galardi chose Kiawah Island

We fell in love with Kiawah Island while staying in a friends villa. We'd never experienced anything like it - and we didn't want it to end. So we bought! Now we get to share this awesome experience with others.

What makes this condo unique

We bought this villa particularly for the VIEW and LOCATION. We looked at a lot of villas, but this is the only one surrounded by a private lagoon. The awesome view and nearness to the ocean, courts, market and tennis won us over.

We have stayed at your place for the last three years. It is comfortable, homey, full of amenities and the private lagoon, wildlife and closeness to the beach, tennis, markets, etc is amazing. We will keep coming back!

Well maintained, homey and very comfortable villa.

  • 5 of 5

This is our third year of staying at this villa. It is well maintained, well located and very comfortable. It is close to the beach and bike paths that make it very easy to navigate the area. Freshfields village, a shopping complex, is within easy biking distance. Saw dolphins the first morning while walking the beach. Saw deer several evenings. Great place to stay for a quiet get-away.

A Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Diedre's beautiful and quiet Villa! I especially enjoyed the views out the back and side of the villa overlooking the lagoons and quickly learned where the herons liked to spend their days. I loved watching them! The Villa had everything that we needed and was even better in person than the pictures showed. Diedre was wonderful to work with and all the information she supplied in her e-mails was good to know. We had a wonderful January get-away - Thanks Diedre for sharing your little piece of paradise with us!

The unit was lovely. It was conveniently located and very clean.

  • 4 of 5

In regard to the unit itself, I have no complaints. The screened porch was a treasure. I love nature and boy did I have it sitting on the porch. The trees were magnificent and seeing the deer, well, I wanted to pet them so badly. How wonderful that the island has been kept as such a natural habitat.

However, I do have a complaint. The neighbors above were quite noisy. They were not partying or being verbally loud. It was the noise from heavy footsteps, the sliding door opening & closing constantly, chairs being pulled out (I assume at the table) and the heavy footsteps going down the outside stairs. They were like a herd of elephants! During our week, they appeared to have 3 sets of guests at 3 different times. The cleaning crew came twice with vacuums going across the floor and various other noises. The last guests to leave awakened us at 3:30 with 3 trips down the outside stairs - never trying to be quiet and beeping the car locks each time. Sound proofing of the floor is definitely needed. I would gladly stay in the unit again if it were not for the noise in the unit above.

The resort is fabulous and I can't wait to go back! In fact we are already planning a long week-end this fall with some friends. (One thing I wish the resort would change is the lighting. We arrived at night and had a most difficult time reading the signs, which have no reflective lettering or up-lights. It was very difficult to find our way around being unfamiliar with the island.)

All in all, we enjoyed the stay. Thank you.

Owner's Response: While we had the opportunity to choose from several other villas, we choose this one in partiuclar for the view and location. It doesn't get any better. We are glad to be able to share it with our guests. We also strive to provide a well appointed, comfortable and clean villa so that our guests can kick back, relax and vacation. There are things that we can not control however, owning a vaction rental. One of those things is the noise level of our neighbors. I am so sorry to hear that you experienced what seems to be a louder than normal amount of noise. We have owned our villa for twenty years now and I can say that noise has not been reported as a problem. We are a bottom unit and people enjoy the convenience of not having to constantly climb steps, especially with full suitcases and groceries. But that means you may have guests in the upstairs unit. I agree about the lighting, however I understand why it is kept at a minimum. As you have experienced, people come to Kiawah to experience nature. It is a cherished commodity - one that has to be protected. So Kiawah strives to keep the island in as pristine condition as possible for the animals to live in as natural habitat as possible. The sea turtle for instance, lays its eggs on Kiawah Island. When those eggs hatch, they migrate out to sea by night following the glow of the moon. If lights are left on, particularly along the beach, the turtles will go inland, following those lights. That would mean the demise of those turtles. Other animals as well are affected by lights. Perhaps sensors of some type could be looked into. There is much to learn and enjoy on Kiawah Island. We are delighted that you got to experience it and look forward to your return.

Perfect for what we were looking for.

  • 5 of 5

Awesome villa and it came with awesome resort privileges. The Courtside Villas were perfect for our vacation, since our kids were playing in the Jr. tennis camp daily and the tennis courts are literally right next to the villa. The beach is a 3 minute walk and we'd go every day 2x. Once to hang for a few hours, and then again at night to feed the deer and take a nice sunset walk. Just gorgeous! You won't regret booking this villa.

Car: recommended

You may never want to leave the island! But should you decide to go exploring for a day, we recommend historic Charleston, just 26 miles north. An attraction for Civil war buffs, antebellum enthusiasts, avid gardeners and plantation perusers, Charleston boasts something for everyone to do. Looking for all-scale shopping, a plethora of restaurants, antiques or art? Downtown is the place to go. It has theatre, museums, IMX cinema, aquarium, and tons more stuff that we haven't even explored yet. The surrounding area offers bird sanctuaries, Civil war forts, parks, golf courses and more.
