This is such a naturally beautiful area, the perfect retreat from hectic city life, somewhere to relax and enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings, listen to the birds and the wind in the trees, gaze at the stars, view wildlife, watch the seasons change...there is beauty and solitude in every season here.
The cabin/home offers complete privacy and seclusion, yet is not too remote for enjoying off-site activities. The property features private walking trails and an outdoor fire pit, a small creek runs near the edge of the acreage, and there is a variety of terrain to enjoy, hills, flat areas, woodlands and open wildflower fields.
We don't know what happened to the fireplace screen. It became wobbly each time the fire was worked. We would not be offended it you kept the deposit to apply to a new screen.
Loved our stay. It was quiet and secluded. Enjoyed watching the deer graze and listening to the birds. Even our little Pug dog seemed more relaxed. The decor and cabin were much nicer than the pictures can relate. I thought it would be a rustic cabin in the woods. I was so surprised to see how modern, up to date and beautiful it was. My husband and I just smiled at each other and said how lucky we were to find such a gem. It was the most relaxing, quiet vacation we have ever had.
Had a wonderful vacation, the cabin is at the end of a driveway up in a hollow with no one around.
Oak Mountain Hollow Lodge was every bit as described. Well stocked, plenty of necessities already at the cabin. Very quiet and relaxing. The loft was nice, with its own little deck. It was only my husband and I so we had plenty of room, but for a larger group there are two nice bedrooms on the lower level. Let me add the water pressure in the shower is fantastic! We had our Golden Retriever with us, so the large crate provided was nice for when we went somewhere we couldn't take her along. The hot tub was nice and clean. It rained for a lot of our visit, but the cabin was the perfect place to relax. The owners provided lots of movies, games and music. On sunny days we took trips to Blackwater Falls and Seneca Rocks. We also visited Big Timber Brewing in Elkins. Very friendly people, and very good beer. Lots of shopping close by in case you needed anything or just wanted to go out to eat. There were about 5 deer who visited every day, and one night the owl was close by. This is a great place for a quiet get-away for anyone. Hoping to get back again sometime!
Oak Mountain Hollow Lodge is pretty much midway between where I live, in New Jersey, and where a couple of my oldest friends live, in Kentucky. We decided to meet there last weekend for a reunion, and it was the perfect spot. Away from town, but not too far, you have easy access to stores and restaurants if you want, but the kitchen is well-appointed and you can cook whatever you like. The sleeping loft is great and our favorite feature was the great deck and the hot tub.
We spent five wonderful nights here over the Easter weekend. This was our first visit to the lodge and I can honestly say we will definitely be back. We wanted for nothing the entire stay. Everything you need is there. The lodge is as pictured and described. The main floor separating the loft (which was totally cool!) and the ground floor bedrooms was a nice feature. The location was perfect and the fenced in yard and large pet crate were a plus. The early morning and late evening dips in the hot tub were great ways to start and end the days!! Many hours were spent on the extra large deck just enjoying being outside. The owner was quick to respond to any and all inquiries. Definitely recommended!!
