This is such a naturally beautiful area, the perfect retreat from hectic city life, somewhere to relax and enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings, listen to the birds and the wind in the trees, gaze at the stars, view wildlife, watch the seasons change...there is beauty and solitude in every season here.
The cabin/home offers complete privacy and seclusion, yet is not too remote for enjoying off-site activities. The property features private walking trails and an outdoor fire pit, a small creek runs near the edge of the acreage, and there is a variety of terrain to enjoy, hills, flat areas, woodlands and open wildflower fields.
I would agree with most of the reviews - the cabin was very secluded, private and peaceful. The main floor was very updated and comfortable with the living area, kitchen and dining room. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked, from cooking utensils and appliances to spices. The master was in the loft as stated, and was large and very comfortable. My husband and I decided to bring a mini inflatable bed for our 6 year old daughter in case it was hot so she could sleep in the master bedroom since it has A/C. Good thing, because it was not stated that the other 2 bedrooms were in the basement, which would have put her 2 floors down from us. I really think the description should state where the bedrooms are located - that may be a deal breaker to parents of young kids like us. The basement was a little claustrophobic - low ceilings and very small bedrooms. I would not have wanted to sleep down there. Unlike others who raved about the deck, we did not spend time there because the deck bows significantly down the entire length - we looked underneath at how the substructure was built and it scared us, especially with a hot tub on it. It looks like it has withstood the test of time, but I did not trust it.
We spent a week at this secluded mountain lodge. The spacious kitchen, loft and deck were very inviting. The house was away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Although we were there during the West Virginia flooding, the owners kept the gravel access road clear and maintained...we appreciated that. Plus there is a friendly cabin kitty...we loved that cat!! The owner was very professional to deal with.
My husband and I were looking for a peaceful getaway from our busy lives in New Jersey and boy did we find it. This beautifully located home in the woods was just perfect. From the minute we arrived we had everything we needed in the home. Large family gathering space inside and out on the deck, spotless interior and well stocked kitchen with all the dishes, cooking utensils and cookware one would need . We have been home for 24 hours and already miss our "little cabin in the woods" Thank you Teresa! We will be back.
We always enjoy our visits to this cabin each year with family, and this time we were happy to bring friends who had never been to West Virginia to come, grill on the porch, make s'mores at the fire pit, hike by day and enjoy the stars by night. Our two city dogs become so quiet and watchful here, preferring to be outside staring into the woods or collapsed happily in the sunshine. We were able to sleep eight no problem, with plenty of linens and blankets and towels for all. The guys fished each morning not far away, one morning even successfully. Stores are close enough by that when the teens eat everything we can restock as needed. But my favorite thing about this cabin is the wrap around porch - allows for yoga, book reading, drinks and socializing as the time allows. We always appreciate how warmly we are welcomed and hate to leave!
We don't know what happened to the fireplace screen. It became wobbly each time the fire was worked. We would not be offended it you kept the deposit to apply to a new screen.
Loved our stay. It was quiet and secluded. Enjoyed watching the deer graze and listening to the birds. Even our little Pug dog seemed more relaxed. The decor and cabin were much nicer than the pictures can relate. I thought it would be a rustic cabin in the woods. I was so surprised to see how modern, up to date and beautiful it was. My husband and I just smiled at each other and said how lucky we were to find such a gem. It was the most relaxing, quiet vacation we have ever had.
