This is such a naturally beautiful area, the perfect retreat from hectic city life, somewhere to relax and enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings, listen to the birds and the wind in the trees, gaze at the stars, view wildlife, watch the seasons change...there is beauty and solitude in every season here.
The cabin/home offers complete privacy and seclusion, yet is not too remote for enjoying off-site activities. The property features private walking trails and an outdoor fire pit, a small creek runs near the edge of the acreage, and there is a variety of terrain to enjoy, hills, flat areas, woodlands and open wildflower fields.
My 2 dogs and I stayed at the cabin for 3 nights to get away from the stress of the city. It was a fantastic cabin at a great price, with the added benefit of no pet fee (which is rare). We all had a wonderful, relaxing time. I would love to go back again!
Rustic, charming and comfortable, we felt at home. Tucked back in the woods we enjoyed the quiet and the visits by deer while relaxing in the hot tub. We enjoyed dining and theater in nearby Elkins though we eat in frequently enjoying the roominess and fully equipped kitchen. We visited West Virginia in the fall and this was a central location to tour by car both the north and south portions of the mountains that are beautiful at that time. If we lived closer we would definitely stay here again.
This cabin is truly secluded and well appointed! Close to everything in the area but when you are in the cabin, it's a real retreat. The home was loaded with everything you need to be comfortable. I am a cook and needed nothing from home to get the job done! The games were much appreciated too. We enjoyed the fireplace and gathered around for much family conversation and catching up. We watched a family of deer get up one morning from where they were bedded down, remarkable. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for privacy and comfort. The rustic feel of cabin is what we liked. It is not your typical "luxury" rental but an authentic secluded experience! The place is so clean and welcoming, you can really unwind and unplug! Thanks for sharing your cabin Teresa! We will be back if in the area again.
Having to tell others just how wonderful something was, how perfect it was for my wife, I, and my two dogs. How peaceful and quiet. How restful and relaxing. All the while knowing this may affect your future ability to book the date you want. That is bitter sweet. We did really love our stay there. Everything you need is in the cabin. Secluded, but within minutes of anything you might need. State Parks, skiing, fishing and hunting within minutes.
Really like to keep this one a secret.
Where do I even begin!! We needed a cozy and kid friendly place to stay while visiting family for a long weekend. We love seclusion when we have getaways so this caught my eye immediately. Teresa's quick responses made the booking process easy and fast. Her driving directions were the best I have ever seen for such a tucked away little spot. When we arrived we were greeted by deer eating the brush and everything was pristine. It truly felt like home away from home . My 5 year old opened his room closet and was so excited to see all of the cool things inside. We opted to use the two lower level bedrooms due to my son's age and we did not feel comfortable being two levels up from him at night. He tends to wake up during the wee hours when we are away from home. The kitchen was well stocked with pans, utensils and such. Since we were just visiting for a small amount of time and had family to see we didn't spend a lot of time on the property during the day and due to rainy nights we didn't even get to enjoy the hot tub. The cabin kitty did kind of steal our hearts a little. Such a sweetie and was there the same time each morning waiting on us. He even took a stroll on the trails with me one morning. We also found out some of the grounds history and it turns out that the property was once owned by someone in my husband's family and that's where his cousins grew up as kids. We try to visit once every couple of years and will definitely be returning to the cabin.
We loved this cabin in the woods! We live in the city and it is never really dark- In this cabin, on the deck, you can walk out and feel as if you can touch the stars. Beautiful experience. The sounds of the night creatures played like a symphony. It doesn't get any more romantic than that.
On to what the next traveler wants to know. lol, I read these before renting anything btw.
The place was remarkably clean.
Plenty of kitchen utensils - (enough to comfortably make/serve a Christmas dinner :)
The linens were not worn out.
The bed upstairs was smooth (no lumps/no groves) - I didn't sleep downstairs so I have no opinion on those.
The bathrooms / kitchen were very clean and tidy.
Down Points.. While listening the night sounds or Silence the hot tub would kick on and jar you out of the mood. I don't know but maybe the option not to even have it on would be great? Teresa? Next year when I return can we turn it off for the week & not spoil the water in it?
2nd down point.. When rushing to the restroom in the middle of the night - watch your step on the stairs. With Clean and shiny comes slick & shiny. Maybe a little less shine on the steps.
Side note - Phone signal on the front deck - no internet
Overall I gave it an Excellent :)
