Texas Hill Country Cabin Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6

Come sleep in one of our Geronimo tipis! The tipis are amazing. There are 5 in total surrounding a stock tank pond located on 4.5 acres (Geronimo Creek Retreat) that borders the beautiful spring-fed Geronimo Creek. This Tipis has 2 queen beds and a pullout couch. Great for family getaways or rent all 5 tipis for larger groups! They look like a traditional tipi from the outside but inside they are fully furnished and have all the conveniences of modern day living including air conditioning, heating, basic satellite TV, kitchenette with sink, under-counter refrigerator, stove top and extra large toaster oven. Each Tipi comes with its own private bathroom with a large walk in tiled shower. The bathroom is located in a separate building, all of the tipis have their own private bathroom.

Geronimo Creek Retreat is an oasis of peace and fun nestled in the pecan trees overlooking a babbling creek in the heart of nature and on the edge of Texas Hill Country. We also have 4 tree-house cabins (1 bedroom with a loft) on the property and a 3 bedroom house for rent, these properties can also be found on the HomeAway site and our website.

Do you long to swim and fish in the creek like you were a kid again? Want to throw some horseshoes or drink a cold one while you chill out in a lawn chair enjoying the feel of warm Texas sunshine on your face? Envision your own cozy tipi with plush furniture, fully equipped kitchenette, private bathroom and gorgeous view, not to mention BBQ pit for grilling, picnic table and fire pit for chatting or just relaxing with your friends and family. Imagine escaping from the real world for a while.

The retreat also has a community game room with big screen TV, ping pong table and a large covered area with picnic tables and a community hot tub. The creek has excellent fishing. We have a dock with kayaks and kayaks for guests use. We also keep tubes, lawn and lounge chairs, and life jackets for your convenience.

Why Best Texas Travel Representative chose Texas Hill Country

New Braunfels and the surrounding area has so much to offer: tons of Live Music venues, Schlitterbahn Water Park, Gruene Hall (which is the oldest dance hall in Texas), the beautiful Guadalupe and Comal Rivers which have excellent tubing, the picturesque Canyon Lake and Lake Placid which offer fun daily boat rentals and the many great restaurants located down town as well as the great tasting local BBQ and burgers in the area! We are also a short drive from the San Marcos outlet malls as well as San Antonio to see the Alamo, River Walk, Sea World and much more.

What makes this cabin unique

In one word: Tipi! Why stay in a condo or hotel when you can have the unique experience of staying in a plush and air-conditioned Tipi which sits on a beautiful property

The Geronimo Creek is a gorgeous spring fed creek lined with centuries old great big pecan trees. The water is cool and inviting, our location has been a favorite Texas swimming hole since the 1930’s though all of the accommodations are newly built.

Do you long to swim and fish in the river like you were a kid again? Want to relax with a cold drink while you chill out in a lawn chair enjoying the feel of warm Texas sunshine on your face? Geronimo Creek Retreat is such a peaceful, beautiful and relaxing property that people just fall in love with it and want to come back right away.

Though you feel like you are way out in the county when you are on the property, due to the silence at night and the bright stars overhead, we are conveniently located just minutes away from all the fun activities, shopping and great restaurants that New Braunfels, Gruene and San Marcos have to offer. Lake Placid is also very nearby and has boat rentals for you to enjoy! Seguin is conveniently close with an HEB supermarket, Walmart should you need groceries or forget anything.

Reviewer Comments:

It was a wonderful experience. Our Grandbabies had so much fun, and loved being in their Tipi's. It felt really secure. The hot tub did not work, that was disappointing, but we moved on to the creek. The blankets were had some stains, on won't detail what it looked like, and the blankets looked really worn, like they have been there a long time. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time. It is definitely a very beautiful place to enjoy fishing, and feeling like we were waiting for Indians to show up. We never saw Management, if they were around they didn't introduce themselves. I have one suggestion, there were no brooms. Because we came in and out of the tipi's. We had one broom to share with each other. I think there should be a broom for each tipi.

Dirty.

  • 2 of 5

We stayed at Holmstead House the weekend of March 21st and 22nd, 2016. We were looking forward to a relaxing weekend with friends. We arrive at the property and the initial impression is very nice. Quiet, large trees, water nearby, what looks like a lot of extra activities, and a very nice cabin. However, as the weekend went there were a lot of issues. We paid 650 for 2 nights. The house was not clean for that price. The stove had food and debri all in the bottom, so much so that we refused to use. The refrigerator would not cool down, and was not cleaned. There are plenty of dishes in the kitchen, however, most of them were very dirty, and make sure to bring your own sponges/dish scrubbers, because the ones provided are disgusting and the dishwasher is broken. (According to other reviews it has been broken for over a year) The air conditioner in the back bedroom leaked water into the sockets all weekend leaving our floors and suitcases on that side all wet. Puddles of water were collecting under the bed. We had to call about the small bathroom shower, because it had obviously not been cleaned. It had hair and toothpaste from previous guests. We went with a group of 8 people seeing as the accommodations were up up to 8 guests, but that's only if you would like a guest to sleep on the couch. It does not pull out. There is a unsightly non-working hot tub next to the house, that per a customer service person from Best Texas Travel has "not worked since 2000". The "working" hot tub the website boasts, was filled with leaves and bugs and cold. It was raining that weekend so we decided to go to the game room. There is a ping pong table (broken in the middle), a dart board (no darts), and every paddle was broken. There were no board games as stated online. We spent several hours trying to get a hold of someone to fix the issues we had when we arrived, and were not given the courtesy of a call back, but a text instead. Peggy helped us immensely and was very nice and tried to get a hold of the owner to fix the problems, to no avail.

We had fun during the weekend, in spite of everything. However, it was not worth the money and we won't be going back. We go on vacation and spend our hard earned money to not have to worry about these types of things.

Reviewer Comments:

The property was beautiful! We enjoyed the experience & hope to invite others to share a tree house next time. The bed was comfy (i think it was memory foam) & the bath was well appointed. The only suggestion i would make is more thorough cleaning. If you are going to require guests to pay an additional amount then perhaps the staff could ensure that cobbs, carpet stains, poisen oak & ivy are properly removed. People like to feel like they are getting what they pay for... They don't mind paying for conveniences if it's clear that they are getting them. I also didn't think i should be asked to take out trash. I paid for the stay & for cleaning so why am i being asked to do anything but enjoy myself?
