this is our home, now retired and travel.
peace and quiet !!! with utmost privacy
My husband and I had a small family gathering at Jan & Jim's gorgeous home for a long weekend. I cannot express how much we enjoyed our time here. Their home is much larger than the pictures show - spacious rooms and a large kitchen. The backyard is huge, with complete privacy. Views of Whiteface Mountain and Lake Placid from the large back porch (from comfy rocking chairs) are beautiful. The rooms are cozy, very unique and clean.
Working with Jan & Jim to organize the rental was a breeze. They were very friendly and easy going hosts, a real pleasure to meet. We'd definitely recommend this property and we'd love to go back!
We stayed for a week in August, and loved this roomy house! With its lovely classic Adirondack architecture, as well as the beautifully appointed rooms, it was the perfect place for our family reunion. We loved the spacious kitchen, and had meals on the porch in the lovely sunset evenings while the children played games on the large lawn area. It is in a great location, within walking distance of either Lake Placid, or Mirror Lake, as well as the town sights and amenities. We will be back!
We love this house! Great space, charming decor, and the absolute most beautiful porch, yard, and view you could imagine! We would definitely come again!
Lake Placid has been our Thanksgiving destination for almost 20 years! Our family has grown from 6 to 12 ( and of course the family dog) and Cedarcrest is by far our favorite location. This spacious and welcoming estate always thrills us when we open the front door. We know we will all have a comfortable, sizable bedroom, a kitchen not only with all the cooking utilities we need but a gorgeous view and space for many of us to be cooking at once. Both the kitchen and dining room table accommodates us all and the living spaces are varied for group tv watching (with a working fireplace) or quiet book reading. Cedarcrest invites us to truly "live" while vacationing with no worries of our grandkids running through the house or all of us coming in from outside activities. The property owners check in with us upon arrival leaving a number where they can be reached and the caretaker is just that: being sure there is enough wood for the fireplace, shoveling, plowing, and sanding if needed. We walk to our favorite Lake Placid haunts, yet at home we feel the quiet beauty of the Adirondacks. Thank you for sharing Cedarcrest!
Escaping NYC during the sweltering heat of the summer, found us in Lake Placid along with our four grandchildren. We rented this home base on the good reviews, but must admit we were a bit wary of the one scathing review on the site. Arriving at the home we felt the beauty of Nature and the seclusion of the setting. The grandkids jumped out of the car after the long ride and ran and ran around exploring the grounds. Going into the house we were greeted by exactly what was advertised, lovely antiques and period furnishings. I loved the themed rooms and could picture us spending long nights on the back porch with the kids playing below us. The house was clean and everything was in working order during our stay. Our time in Lake Placid, and of course visiting the North Pole, was just what we and the kids needed. It was always comforting to come home to this house after a long day of sightseeing and sports activities. The grand kids asked if we could come back again next year!! We will think about it, but may bring the parents next time!
We found this house to be wonderful. The kitchen had everything you could want. The dining room fit all 13 of us which was such a blessing. They had plenty of bathrooms and hot water enough for all. The rooms were well decorated and the fireplace was delightful. The hosts were really pleasant to work with. We had a great weekend here and would definitely return. You could stroll into town and the views were terrific. Loved it!!!!
