About Alyce Etxebarria

As a native Nevadan I treasure my home and this beautiful area. It is so near all of the Reno activities that I love to participate in! I have lived in this home for 20 years, until a recent love interest has taken me to a new adventure. I have done all the 'remodel' work myself. My home is perfect and ready for guests to enjoy! I have really been lucky, with the best people, it has been a pleasure so far.

Alyce Etxebarria purchased this house in 1990

Why Alyce Etxebarria chose Reno

When I was a kid running around Reno, I remember saying that one day I would love to live in this neighborhood! This home is absolutely the perfect Reno location for work or play. The house is a short few blocks from downtown Reno. You could arrange a whole life within biking distance! Across the street from Renos oldest park, Idlewild Park and the Truckee River. Amazing thing is you can still go to one of the many little riverside beaches and be the only one there! Freeway I-80 westbound to Tahoe is minutes from the door. All this, and yet the house is in a very secluded old S.W. area of town. Traffic does not 'just wind up here'. You must wiggle your way in!! Excellent!!

What makes this house unique

The location is really unique. Reno's Downtown/Midtown area is just blocks from the quiet seclusion of the old neighborhood. Take the retro-cruisers out to explore. You will surely find something special.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My friends and I traveled to Reno for the Tour de Nez and had the pleasure of renting and staying in Alyce's parkside retreat. Alyce was wonderful; she was flexible with our arrival and departure times, and even left us a pitcher of sun tea on the back patio to enjoy! The house was perfect for two couples with king size beds, plenty of privacy and full of ecclectic charm. It is a beautiful peaceful space right on the Truckee River and just a short 15 minute walk to central Reno. It's perfect for your summer or winter trip to the Reno/Tahoe area!

Pictures can't do justice to this amazing home that is a work in progress! The whole time we were there my eyes kept flicking brightly as I would find another treasure, ha! My husband said it made him tired as I kept asking "Could we do this?"...The house had everything we needed & much more + the best temperpedic beds... We had a fire in the back one night & cooked our chicken ( purchased at the Co Op just down the street) over the coals . We were in Reno to check out all of the new craft breweries , the standout being St. James Brasserie , we were not disappointed . Reno has seemed to have evolved in a good way since we were last there. Loved that "our" house was close to everything ! Can't wait to come back & play again!!!

I can't wait to come back!

  • 5 of 5

Alyce's house is a pure joy to stay at. Warm, comfortable, homey, and so unique. The beds are extremely comfortable, the bathrooms and kitchen are exquisite. The details inside are endless and almost all of them were made by Alyce herself, who is an amazing artist. The location was also very quiet with driveway parking and a large backyard. Strong wi-fi and Direct TV was a big bonus. Conveniently located, a short drive into downtown. Alyce was beyond accommodating and very responsive throughout the whole process. I definitely hope to stay here again someday.

As promised - and more

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more delighted with the property. Everything was exactly as described - with more things to explore all the time. I've recommended it widely and we hope to come back. The house was clean, comfortable, and anything you needed was there. And there were artistic touches to be discovered everywhere. The yard was perfect for our "children" who enjoyed their 1st snow. While we were not able to enjoy the proximity to the river, that's a definite selling point.

Our home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We love Alyce's place! We have stayed here probably 5 times over the last couple of years! What do we like about it? Everything! The home is exactly as described, fully furnished with many added little touches that make the house a home. It seems that whatever we need is always there in the house, whether it be coffee or paper plates. It is perfect for one or two couples and two small dogs. It is cozy in the winter and pleasantly cool (with the new central AC) in the summer.

We love the fact that it is close to the casinos and the nightlife, yet in a residential area right near Idylwild Park and the Truckee River where our dogs love to go for walks!

We have been to the Reno Hot Air Balloon Races, watched the 4th of July fireworks over the Nugget, ate at the Friday Night Food Trucks at the Park, spent New Year's Eve at the Silver Legacy, and just saw the new Star Wars movie at the out-of-this-world, Galaxy Theater!

It is our go to place whenever we want to get away from the rat race, relax and have a great time!

Simply fantastic

  • 5 of 5

We were here for four nights beginning on Christmas. I had not paid much attention to what my wife had booked but I was simply floored when we arrived. The neighborhood is a simple neighborhood but the house looks a little different from the outside but once you enter it is just awesome. We had our small dogs with us and Alyce had a dog bed ready for them and their own treats. Everywhere you look , in the house, you find new and interesting touches. The tile work is unbelievable. The house was warm for our entry and very comfortable the entire time. The shower alone was worth the trip. Having a fenced backyard made exercise for the dogs super easy, especially considering that the temperature was in the teens much of the time we were there. We ended up staying in the house for the majority of our trip. Direct TV, snow and cold outside, unique warm and engaging interior all added up to it being more fun to hang out in the house. Markets were very close by and the river is only a few minutes walk. It seemed like every time I opened the back door I could see or hear Canadian Honkers landing on the Truckee. Highly recommend staying here.

Owner's Response: Wow! So delighted with the appreciation you had for the house! Thank You. Reno has not had such a 'real' winter for several years. I know your visit had been to check out Reno.Dang. That means you will have to come again when you can get out there. You will love it! The house sends out this relaxing vibe. Very happy you guys were able to tap into that and enjoy!!

Notes:
You will find everything you need to make a full course meal. Bedrooms, baths are comfortable, with new fresh linens. This small, quality home is ready for entertaining! The layout is open, the atmosphere is warm and peaceful. Carefully thought after property provides a retreat stay in Reno. I have had gatherings of up to 25 people quite comfortably. Summertime, the back yard is perfect for a wedding or reception. I recently hosted a family reunion here. With Idlewild Park, and the Truckee River right around the corner, it is perfect location! I don't know of any hotel in the area that is as nice, plus to have the luxury of home cooking / dinning in , relaxing in the private yard. This home has available option to have maid service.
