Best location for your visit to San Francisco. Enjoy the convenience of an easy walk to Financial District, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, Union Square, the theater District, or just simply take the Cable Car.
This is the ideal place to have the quintessential experience of living like a local in San Francisco. Have a nice cup of coffee in the morning with the Cable Car bell sound outside your window. Explore the many famous sites around the city, then come home to a quiet evening. The use of 2 transit cards are included to make exploring the city easier.
The flat is a spacious 750 sq. ft. (70 sq. M) located on the top floor of a 4 story building, away from the street. The flat is very quiet. You will have a great night of sleep on the queen sized bed with 800 thread count sheets.
The living room is next to the bedroom, with the option of pocket doors to separate the rooms. Enjoy sitting on the comfortable couch by day and convert it into a queen sized bed by night. The living room is also furnished with a beautiful dining table and chairs, as well as a 40' flat screen.
The kitchen is stocked with cooking pots, pans and utensils, as well as basic spices.
The full bathroom has a shower over tub.
I grew up in San Francisco. Love this world class city for all it has to offer.
Mike & Amy purchased this apartment in 2003
It is centrally located. You can walk every where, or take public transit. Our world famous cable car is just right outside of the building.
Union Square, North Beach (Italian District), Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, Financial District and world class restaurants are all within an easy 20 minutes walk, or take the Cable Car.
Really enjoyed our stay here. The location could not be beat. Being surrounded by the beautiful architecture and having the cable car right outside really helped make our trip an experience to remember. The transit passes that are provided are a wonderful bonus - we used them to get everywhere and it was relatively easy to do so.
The unit itself is nice and has all the necessities. Beds were fairly comfortable and noise level was okay most nights. The stairs to get up here are a little daunting but after a few days of climbing the hills you get used to them.
Mike was great and made sure we had everything we needed to get into the unit okay, even though we came in quite late. The pot for the coffee maker was missing and Mike replaced it the very next day.
All in all, a great place to stay.
We had a great stay! Lots of pros: roomy for the family compared to a hotel room, good location, loved having a kitchen, washer and dryer. The cable car ride in to town was convenient and easy to catch (although often the lines to catch it home were long). We did use the transportation cards that were included, and we also recommend the Citypass (includes several key SF attractions and transportation). There weren't many restaurants nearby. We rented a car, and fyi, the recommended parking lot is a very steep 5 block walk and $25-30 per night. No street noise, but one of the neighboring units was loud some nights. The pullout bed was more comfortable than most and large (I think a king size). The only cons we noticed were a low shower head (we are tall, but it was noticeably short to our 5'3" daughter), no dishwasher, and dirty blinds and couch cushions. There is no a/c, but we found it wasn't needed during our stay.
We enjoyed the coffee shop across the street from the Cable Car Museum and a restaurant named The Italian Homemade Co. in North Beach (20 min walk).
I would highly recommend this apartment for anyone to rent. The flights of stairs were scary at first but by the end of the week were no big deal. Mike was there to greet us when we got there and made sure we had everything we needed. There is a Binder in the apartment with information that is a must read when you first arrive. The location was fantastic! The Clipper cards saved us $80 something dollars. We still had to purchase 2 more for the kids at Walgreens. The cable cars and buses make it east to get around the city but study the routes before you go. We were able to get to Muir Woods by taking a Muni bus to Crissy Field, walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, caught a Golden Gate Transit bus to Sausalito and caught the shuttle from there to Muir Woods. We then took the Ferry back to San Fran. Totally recommend bringing at least a small backpack to wear daily when exploring the city. My across the body bag got in the way when hiking up and down the hills of the city. The beds were very comfortable. We opened the window in the bedroom and the window in the living room to allow for cross ventilation. Since it is on the top floor it got very hot at times. However, we were not there except to sleep. They do have a coffee maker now. There was a wonderful bakery in North Beach ( not very far and a cable car ride away) called Victoria's and Original Joe's was fantastic if you want Italian. The apartment was very clean when we arrived and the fact that it had a washer and dryer with laundry detergent provided was so nice!
If the apartment had a ceiling fan or an oscillating fan, it would be perfect!!
My husband and I spent 6 nights in the apartment on the top floor back. It was clean and comfortable, a great place to come back to at the end of the day away from crowds. It has everything you would need to make your stay easy. We shopped at the local Trader Joe's for coffee and breakfast items. We used the complimentary Clipper Cards to ride the trolley every day to different areas we were exploring. The TV was fine with channels we were happy with for the end of day wind down. The area is quiet and safe and centrally located to nearly every neighborhood we wanted to see. The views from Nob Hill are amazing! Amy and Mike were wonderful hosts that provided lots of information and were extremely easy to work with.
Mike made the transition very easy and the location was wonderful the cable car outside was an easy ride to fisherman's Warf or union square .
china town was within walking distance if you like walking down hill :) the apartment was very nice all the things you need for a nice stay the stairs were a hike but we staid out for the most part until we was ready to retire for the evening the trans passes were A BIG PLUS we got all over the city with no issue over all great place thanks mike.
We are family of 4 , and stay for a week , we really " score " in this place , is super convenient to Everything : Chinatown, walk down Union Square ( or cable car ) , walk to fisherman wharf ( or cable car )---the 2 cards for use on buses was a Super Plus -- , place clean , all working perfectly , comfy bed..super comfy sofa bed , TV with plenty channels , Super Quiet ( amazing ), a lot of restaurant around with easy walk distance ...I know you go up and down but is San Francisco way, the neighborhood was very safe .
